Vandalism (A.K.A. Vadalism)

Battery powered reciporicating saw for sure. In the south they call them "sawzaws". Pretty easy to come by. With a replacable multi pupose blade, they probably didnt bring an extra and they could only make it throught six baskets before the blade wore down. This puts it in prospective for me. Id much rather have to clean graffitti off the tee signs than frequently replace entire baskets. Jeez.

I think the term you are looking for is "sawzall" and it is not a southern term. I first head a reciprocating saw call a sawzall when I lived in Ohio in the 70's.

Indeed. I agree. I only tried to spell phonetically in relation to how people say it here. But yes! I will agree for sure. I actually used to live in cincinatti and they also use that term.

Somewhat expensive, but 18 trail cams would definitely help with catching someone doing this in the future. My home course used to only have those as the security cameras; now's there's a nest of four of them by the parking lot, but there are still trail cams throughout the course (there was an issue with spray painted graffiti on several baskets, tee signs, trees, and the rocks on an island hole).

we discovered it Sunday morning when arriving for the fundraiser. All baskets were loaded up and taken to a secure location where they are currently being welded. The club is buying new poles and going to get this fixed. Discussed multiple options of strengthening the poles thru either rebar and concrete or an outer sleeve. But not sure its possible to avoid this going forward. we can speculate all we want about who did it but with no solid proof its a waste of time and energy. would rather spend our energy making this course great. Washington park is 30 years old this year and is in the best condition i have ever seen it since i started playing.

the only evidence we have at this point is they used a blue blade. We also call them sawzaws in the midwest. Police report was filed and they have their best detectives on the case : )

side note the amount of support from surrounding clubs and the disc golf community in general thru donations and advice was pretty awesome to witness and be a part of.

We have had this discussion locally when a basket gets stolen. I think the concrete/rebar solution could work but would be a pain to move the baskets around if the course has multiple locations. Trail cams could be a good idea. If for nothing else, the "Smile you're on camera" signs tend to help...;)

Interesting. I didnt know that.
I apprenticed in the late '80's. The Makita 9.6v cordless was just coming into shops then.
My Sawzall, 1/4 inch corded drill and 1/4 inch close quarters cabinetmakers drill all date from 88-89 and continue to cut and drill. Other than replacing a cord on my drill, they have never required a repair. Milwaukee was pretty much the go to choice then. That said, most all of the tool manufactures make quality tools. Guys in the trades simply won't settle for crap.

The Milwaukee Electric Tool Corp. makes the Sawzall. It's trademarked.
Hitachi, Ryobi, and other "reciprocating saws" came later.
I did not know this for sure however, I do remember that Milwaukee was the manufacturer of the sawzall my step dad owned so it makes sense.

You could advertise free filming of each round with every visit!

Or maybe signs that say, "Smile, youre on Jomez"

I bet it was Colin Kaepernick angry at those red white and blue baskets, making them kneel before him.

How about poles like this

Don't you think there is enough ignorance already without adding to it with your foolish social commentary? FYI Colin is protesting police brutality and racial inequality. Maybe you should refrain from commenting on things you know nothing about.

Why not just electrify the poles? Sawzall blade hits it and BAM! they'll never want to touch a disc basket again. :D ;)

You probably didn't read post #3, John, and you clearly didn't pick up I was commenting on 2 DGCR treads yesterday that got off to goofy starts due to misspelling. That's what set off my satirical slant. So, yeah I forgive you for taking me out of context.

I read post #3, and I also notice the frequent misspellings on this site. They're pretty comical. However, post #3 mentioned commies, but you took it to a different level when you labelled them as "slanty eyed". Not very comical. My wife is Chinese, so I took offense to the statement. Furthermore; there are probably visitors to this site with Asian roots, and your statement is probably not appreciated by them, either. I'm sure you are aware there are many communists from "round-eyed" countries, too. But, yeah, I guess I should forgive you for not realizing your racism
