[MVP] MVP Disc Sports (Official Thread) (Part V)

I am hoping James hand picked one/some more on the OS side and that mold variation will allow me to throw one.

Noticing also that the Terras are all comfortably north of 170 which might be a JC preference as well. We'll have to see how that translates to the Zenith, but my interest is definitely dampened if it's a 174g kind of proposition. Too many good options that are lighter weight and more in my wheelhouse.

It seems like a lot of MVP's new molds are being produced in higher weight. They don't usually debut in fission, neutron is the preference. Maybe part of it is making sure it flies true to numbers.

In other hoarding news and a lack of lightweight envy, and an effort to get my full 9 cat lifetimes supply of envy.... I snagged two misprint 167 N's for less than reg retail at $26 can

That's a gorgeous burst. If it's me, the stamp's coming off post haste so that I can enjoy the patterning without a middleman.

The eagle eyed among you are already asking yourselves what on God's green earth is he doing with five Craves in there? To be honest, I'm not sure. But was throwing things back in the bag after missing all my putts in the backyard and thought to myself: self, just try it on and see how it fits. For the record, the red Hokom is crazy understable, the pink and blue Hokoms are money, and I have lighter and heavier (162ish and 172ish) Fissions for good measure. May try this arrangement over the weekend just for fun.

But yes, I do think it's a nearly perfect disc.

The TK review is out on the Zenith. Man am I ever disappointed. Left of the Photon which I have always felt was too far from the Wave. Oh well.

Insanity

I was thinking about getting a MVP Insanity in Cosmic Neutron plastic but I've never owned a MVP disc. How do they compare to other discs? You don't really hear that much about MVP..

Generally speaking they are unkind to "nose up" throws. Typically dropping a few grams from your normal weight will smooth the transition, gyro feels like it throws a little heavier.

Insanity is a great place to start, don't be afraid of MVP's lighter weight stuff they aren't flip turds. Great disc!

What are you throwing now and how far? If you are under 300' look into a plasma insanity as a starting point if you want angle holding linecarving. Cosmic or neutron will give you a more stable experience, less front end turn.

Hey man, yeah if you aren't throwing that far I'd look at an insanity in the 165g weight if you are used to heavy discs. 155g would be good but probably be tricky form wise.

You might benefit the most from a Relay. Great low speed disc, I can use it from 120' to 300' (my max) Real far flyer as well. It's a staple in my bag.

Looking that way.

Full click up on the turn, half click down on the fade. I think you're right that most mortals will experience that as more stable even if both numbers are technically inching closer to zero/neutral.

Dang, what is it with MVP (actually gyro plastic itself)? A couple of years ago, I tried some MVP and didn't like it. The ones I recall the most are the Axiom Fireball and MVP Resistor. They were pretty flat and should have been awesome for my forehand. But, nope, couldn't throw them worth a darn. Ended up giving them away. Then the December Holiday happened....Jessie of TrashPanda had a Holiday Swap where you sent another person a used disc (Jessie believes in recycling). I got the MVP Servo and I ended up LOVING it. Lost it, bought another one in a lighter weight, got the first one back, lost the new one.....anyways, I now have two lightweight ones (one is always in my bag, the other is 'in case I lose the main one')...and the original one stays lost.

Then I found an Axiom Insanity. No name or number, but I posted that I found a disc and where, no one claimed it...a month later I started throwing it. Loved the flight, lost it. Bought a new one in a weight I prefer for my drivers.

Now, I'm thinking gyro might not be too bad. I took part in the Circuit Challenge....got the Axiom Rhythm and am loving it. The MVP Atom is also in my bag as a throwing putter. I'm not liking the Streamline Echo that much...it's on my shelf.

My bag now has several gyro discs: Axiom Insantity, MVP Servo, Axiom Rhythm, MVP Reactor, Axiom Hex, Axiom Envy, MVP Atom. Out of the 15 discs I normally bag, 7 are gyro. The Insanity and Servo are forehand only. The rest are thrown both forehand and backhand.

It's got me thinking about the other discs in my bag....maybe I might start replacing them with gyro some time soon.

For those of you that have thrown Neutron soft. How is it in cold weather?

I have been throwing Electrons in colder weather, but I snagged a Neutron soft and I am loving it.

I want to know how it grips cold and if it still flexes at all cold? However it's August in Indiana, it will be quite a while before I can test it myself.

The Crave changed my life, but weirdly it's out of the bag as the Roadrunner seems to fly the same line but a little longer for me.

How is the Rhythm? Very curious to hear about it. The Signal is a little unpredictable for me, and I haven't gelled with the Ascend. I have a pair of Underworld's that cover my flip up to right finishing RHBH shots at the moment.

I'm liking the Rhythm. Weirdly enough it should be a forehand disc for me as it is pretty flat, but it works better backhand. I throw at 42ish MPH and it goes pretty straight for me. I'm still working with it and need some more field work with it.

It's excellent in cold weather, still feels softer than a neutron in August in Canadiana :D not quite asmuch grip as an electron when wet but is very durable even in the cold, more durable than neutron in sub zero.

I was hoping to hear that! That is exactly what I was looking for.

I'm with you here. I really wanted to like to Signal, but I had a problem being consistent with it.

I do like the Ascend better than the Signal. I am anxious to get my hands on the Rhythm.

Bill, I am encouraged by this and looking forward to getting one once they become more broadly available!
