[Innova] Banshee replacement??

Banshees are much easier to find online, certainly. My brother throws DX Banshees and really likes those, cycles them from brand new to some that hold a laser-straight flight out to ~320' to a couple of turnover ones. His Champion max weight ones are insanely beefy. I would just keep picking up Banshees. I'm not sure what others are saying that they have a + rim. None of the new ones I've seen have a + rim. New Banshees seem to be more beefy IMO than the older runs, so I'd suggest finding some in the 160s.

Newer a la flight numbers www tooling and marked Fairway Driver. That's been going on for some years but since OP said "old Banshees" I'm assuming those would be new to him. When I think old Banshee I think pat#s at the very least, if not also CAL and Distance Driver marked.

I threw Pipelines for a while and was VERY excited for the Banzai. It is not Banshee OS... It is a slightly more OS Pipeline (with an odd angle on the wing). I think that was DGA's intention (and how they market the mold - the "Banzai Pipeline"). It is also another good illustration of the variable nature of flight numbers across different manufacturers.

I would compare the First Flights/John Dorn FFs to stable Thunderbirds.

As with anything I write here (or anywhere), this is just MY personal view.

but the rim profile has that almost Banshee look to it so that is why it got suggested by me. I noticed however looking at the flight profile for both companies, the Teebird and Banzai have almost the same flight path. The problem is finding a Bashee flight disc to the old Banshee flight. New flight of the Banshee with the dome is what other companies replicated rather then the old heavy OS but not mega hyzer disc like the other discs on the market now. That is near impossible to find in a disc and about the best one is an Eagle X low dome almost flat top that was almost an old low dome Banshee, but that is hard to find now too, a low dome in Eagle seems to be in only L mold.

So I threw Banshees for years. Loved them and had no intention of replacing them. Then Reptilian Disc Golf released the Raptor. Of course, the future of that disc is slightly in doubt (probably due to the release of the Discraft Raptor) but if you can find one, it's the perfect Banshee replacement.

When the person said old Bashee and was responded to, he went on about the old Flatter topped Banshee. Those flatter topped low dome Banshee are generally from the 2000's from what I saw, the Champion discs molded up flatter then the newer discs or the DX at the time and both were less beefy then the newer big Domed models as those are fairly domed like trying to get a 5 on the last number as the wing became odd after cooling to fit the amount of dome on the disc so the wing placement makes the disc fly more OS then the flight numbers on the disc.

The closest "non" Innova disc I've found was beefy Discraft Ti Stalkers or a Discraft Reaper.

Innova disc that's easier in to find in stores than a Basshee, no DX? I mean, you have them. Firebird/TeeBird/EagleX. If you want to expand to non-Innova discs there are options, but looking for only Innova discs you can find easily in stores limits you to those three.

A lot of us that throw Banshees have tried the Millennium EXP-X as a Banshee replacement with a lot of success, but good luck fining a store carrying Millennium. You might as well still be looking for Banshees. At any rate, Champ Banshees got domey with a plusy feeling rim so a lot of us switched to the EXP-X; still molded by Innova, very similar flight.

I would try this mold, he really knows what he is talking about.

You might can contact online places and see if they have any of those older Champ Banshees left in stock. I have some Champ Banshees, and a couple of them are like that.

My first thought when I read your post was that the Lat64 XXX might be a good replacement. But I think they're also OOP, so I don't know what might be in stock anywhere. My second thought is to try to find a high PLH Champ Eagle or Champ Teebird that might be an acceptable substitute for you.

XXX is still in print - it is much more massively overstable than a Banshee with a significantly wider rim. Not a great comp.

I was the first to respond to him (about Banshees). Domey Banshees weren't coming out in the 2000s you're correct. Sure there may be flukes but domey, +, and less overstable were 2010ish and later. Never seen a domey DX Banshee in my life. Can't comprehend the rest sorry brother...

EDIT: It was PDGA approved in January of '98 (had to double check to make sure I was right)

Second last two posts. I personally use a MVP Resistor in this slot, though it definitely doesn't feel like a Banshee. I have also thrown a friends Spark a few times and it more like a Banshee IMHO.

The XXX is NOT OOP. The Trident is also available again. So, you have three Lat64 options.

Not to derail the thread, but I'd love to know where Tridents are available at the moment!

Tridents were my original love, and once they went OOP, Banshees took their place for awhile. The Banshee rim bothered me more and more though, so I've now switched to the Resistor, and it's 100% perfect for me. The Spark I tried (post-Feldberg I assume) wasn't OS enough.

The Rest was about how modern Banshee are like a 5 on the last flight number. Some are so beefy that only big arm players can use the disc without it just doing a C shape or backward C shape Shot depending on what hand he is throwing the disc. The Banshee had/still has? the normal domed DX Banshee height which is the not high dome like the modern Champion but rather like the Dome on a Star Shark so not a ton of dome but not flat either.

Wait, new Banshees are beefcakes? How did I miss that?

exp 1 or just throw star firebirds

personally i would just buy some pds in c s p and drop all other fairways

Infinite has the latest run of metallic Opto Tridents with a toothpaste stamp: over 100 available, all 177g.

Tridents are the bomb diggety! I love the Retro Trident: got a small stack when they were released, and #1 is still kicking headwind butt almost 2 years later.
