Sula Open, DGPT Silver Series

VERY few FPO players :( just 10 in total and none of the top pros , only two players rated +900
And one of the 900+ players isn't even in 100% shape. Rachel threw with a run-up only on one hole at Tyyni Open because of knee problems, all others were standstill.

EDIT: Kat Mertsch and Nikko Locastro were signed up but have apparently withdrawn.

Strange, Udiscs says that the last round will be live on DGN. . but i just got a mail that the first round is now live on DGN. . not home so i cant check

Fun to see that Kristofer Hivju is playing, must be the biggest star in a Pro Tour event?

Feels like "free pro tour points" if just ONE of the pros on the FPO side would have played. . wierd that they didnt, . . AND its on DGN so you get 4 rounds on filmed rounds, isnt that the point to be on DGN fimed cards for a pro?!

In bounds shots get a yellow smiley face flag...OB shots get a black skull and crossbones flag!
(at least on the one hole I saw flags being used)

Air travel is crazy in the U.S. with massive flight cancellations due to uderstaffing. I suspect this played into top U.S. players not coming.

I'm kind of wondering if US players just didn't sign up for the Sula Open???

29 USA men and 5 women signed up for the European Open compared to 10 men and 0 women at the Sula.

If alla the MPO players could get to Sula, so should the FPO…..and many FPO will play the European open, so kind of strange to not play the Sula…..but not even Eveliina and Henna is playing, or the Swedish players..just weird

Sure it´s hard BUT it´s a $2000 price and a title on the line for a FPO player that might not have that many chances for a DGPT title. . .i get that Paige, cat and the top pros skip this one, but for the top 10-30 this would have been a great chance for an "easy Pro Tour title"

A quick peek at airfare from Ohio to Norway shows the average cost is about 1300 bucks. Seems fun for a course bagger on vacation, but pro disc golfers are working. They are trying to make a living. With the current purses, short tour lengths, and cost of playing overseas, combined with money lost by way of forgone options in the US...it simply makes no sense for a touring player to go overseas.

BUT. . many of them are playing at the European open (and Persident cup) in just a week time, not THAT far from Norway to Finland ( and i guess many of them have a stopover in denmark).

I still think its wierd that not a single of the FPO players that will be at Euro Open took an extra week in Europe and played the Sula Open.. . . .or even Henna or Eveliina

I wonder if European players view the Open as their World Championship (a fair view), and if so, would rather have an extra week or 2 practice time there than a Silver Series event that most of the top players honestly don't need the points or cash for.

Probably more like USDGC.

It is what it is. . .but if i were a "mid field player" with a sponsor. . i sure would like a title in a DGPT event to show my sponsor.

Strange results on the MPO side, most players have one really good round and one terrible one.

Oakley R1:62 R2:54
Calvin R1: 64 R2:54
Conrad R1:56 R:62

Oakley was out of the top 10 after R1. . after R2 he´s in the lead!!
I think that out of the R3 leadcard 3 of the players was out of the top 10 after R1

Whilst Sula looks visually amazing, there is one helluva lot of fluke on that course. Baskets on rocky outcrops incredibly close to OB and the like. It's going to create that kind of scoring. 2 one round 5 the next for essentially the exact same throw.
