[MVP] MVP Disc Sports (Part VI)

Not that it's news to anyone but the Pyro's strong in the wind. Several good approaches today but this was easily the best.

I've had a Plasma Pyro 179g since September and is an outstanding all wind disc, and heaviest disc in the bag. I had used it for touch shots and get out of trouble up until a month ago until I picked up a plasma entropy.

I've only had it a month, but what appears to be another good all wind disc is the Neutron Terra. Dead straight with a little fade, wind direction doesn't seem to matter.

On a different note, for anybody that has pre-ordered a Plasma Zenith. I received an e-mail from OTBDiscs that mine has been labeled and should be delivered next week. I think I'm going to be having a Plasma Photon war with it.

Recently I grabbed 2 Craves - a 172 proton and a 172 Hokom Neutron. The Neutron is pretty high speed stable, probably closer to 0/1 or 0/1.5. The Proton flies a lot more like the rating of -1/1. Is this pretty standard for Craves? I don't really need straight stable (that's what my undertakers are for) but if that's how those Neutrons always fly then I probably will avoid those in the future.

Patent Pending Craves used to be 0/2 for the most part. When they brought production in house, it's been kind of all over the place. I have a run of Hokoms that is -1/1. The first run of Hokoms were more like -2/1. I have a Plasma that is closer to what you're saying though, 0/1.5

Basically, with Craves anyway, MVP is a bit like Innova. Not all that consistent.

My experience with PFN Craves is Neutrons and Protons tend to fly 0/2 and Plasmas -1/1. Don't know how much that holds up these days as all my Craves are old.

well I might scratch that mold off the list to fill that 'tweener' role then. The parting line heights between the two are essentially identical, so it was surprising that they fly so differently.

There was definitely at least one run of Plasma for the PFN Craves that was maybe even a tick more stable than 0/2. I have one of them, and even very beat in it's still 0/1.5

One of the admins of the Mvp Facebook fan page who i believes works for Mvp confirmed today that there will be a Lizotte music city open commemorative disc. He made fun of that people will always complain about the stamp or mold. I'm thinking itll be an anode. What do yall think?

I received my plasma Zenith today. I'm confident I've not been very public with my apathy toward plasma plastic but I suppose I will air my grievance today. Plasma is some of the prettiest plastic on the market but it just straight up lacks in grip. Side by side my neutron Zenith's are definitively grippier. I wonder, though, if that little bit of slipperiness of the Plasma will help with a more consistent release or if it will result in early release. Unsure but I will need to field test. And, as is most often the case recently with MVP, the PLH on the neutron and plasma are near identical. What is interesting is the plasma seems to have a bit of dome compared to the Neutron. Now, that said, neutron Zenith's certainly aren't flat by MVP standards but they do still have a fairly flat profile. It will be interesting to see how it flies in the field.

Oh and fission hex with these swirled/marbled rims are incredible looking.

The parting line height on overmold discs is deceiving. You're seeing the parting line of the overmold, not the wing of the disc. It's possible that one wing is lower than the other, but the line in the overmold is the same.

I don't have a problem with faster discs in plasma, but I've given up on plasma putters. Their flight plates just feel stiff, thick, and very slippery to me.

Yes with the new runs, I agree. My new prism plasma envy is slick!

The old plasma though is grippiest even in wet conditions. I think neutron gains an edge if it's hot enough to get soft but I'd take a nice worn plasma on any rainy day. Though I gotta give a nod to the new neutron these days, my 167 N JC wayfarer misprint has been my steady envy in the competition bag lately.

I've worn my 3 favourite PP plasmas into be a little flippy. Kinda like a fresh firm electron flight. I love them, for many reasons but I was getting murdered in C1 I needed a touch more of late fade but something still good for stable distance. I always pack a electron.

A little behind on the crave talk, my new off the shelf a few months ago Hokom has a PLH only matched by my beefy Plasma. My protons are consistently close to the numbers and are a good -1 1 or -1 0 middle of the road flight. Early Hokoms and R2 being the flippest out of the box.

I agree on the plasma, it seems to have gotten stiffer over the last runs. I cannot say much about grip as the older discs I can compare aren't craves, and are a little worn in, which likely improves grip.

I saw a post about OTB wave 2... one site golfdisco or something has the 2.0 eclipse uplink listed, so I will probably buy a few of those :D weeee just need an eclipse rhythm or relay and I'm a happy camper. The craves alright but it's tough when you've seen 2.0 to be happy with the first versions, my old eclipse envy never get nighttime play anymore.

Yeah, my 1.0 Eclipse Envy is only used as a putting putter. I drive/approach with the 2.0 Envy. I would love to see a 2.0 Crave as well. I have the Halloween 1.0 Crave, but just use my Lizottle where I'd usually use it because I don't want to lose it. I'm pretty happy with my glow setup otherwise though. Don't think I need an Uplink/Paradox, or other really US mold.

pyro made the bag. goes further than a deflector but sits down faster than a Reactor. had some decent shots with it my first day throwing one.

thinking about taking the dimension out until I build up more arm speed. my plasma mayhem is pretty beefy and seems to fill the moderately overstable distance slot better.

I'm in a bit of a funk. This past weekend I was finally able to get an Uplink and Paradox (dang, those can be hard to find). But now I'm oncall for my job and can't be more than 15 minutes away from my home. I'm just itching to get out to the field and see how these two discs fly compared to my other 5 speeds. Will they make the bag? Will they go on my shelf? What purpose will they serve on the course? I'm hoping one of them or both are truly understable for me (ending their flight to the right when thrown RHBH).....if one or both do that, I have a friend I'll introduce to them. He's got a poor forehand and his RHBH anhyzer leaves a bit to be desired....he really struggles with holes where the disc has to go right. If the Uplink or Paradox do that, I might get him to start bagging MVP/Axiom. But mainly I want them to work for me. Next Tuesday can't get here fast enough....that's when I'll be off oncall status and can get to the field.

Sorry about your funk, I've been in a little bit of one as well. I went out to a course I haven't played in a while and got destroyed...so that helped the funk in some ways and made it worse in others

As far as the portion of your quote I highlighted above...if the paradox does not perform understable for you, you are either throwing <100ft or you have some form issues we need to investigate :D In all seriousness the paradox is super understable. It's a very fun discs but I didn't play many rounds with it because it was just too much. The uplink was the perfect 'refinement' of the paradox. Sometimes I still take the Uplink out there but the glow hexes are super workable and I am trying to work with angle control more lately.

I have a (measured) 42 mph backhand throw. I'm getting 250 (rangefinder/uDisc measurements) with my 5 speeds. My Hex is a mainly straight flying disc. I have a pretty decent forehand, but there are sometimes that I need a backhand throw to go right or even a forehand to go left....I'm hoping the Uplink and/or the Paradox fits that spot. I can't throw anny....my body and arm really aren't happy when I try it...so I'm trying to find the disc that will fly like an anny throw without having to be put on an anny line.

And....I do have form issues...mainly consistency which I am working on.

My mid experimentation continues. I pulled my Matrix for a Reactor, and can confirm that despite the very similar numbers, my Matrix is a good bit more OS than my Reactor. In fact, I could probably carry Matrix/Reactor/Hex/Uplink.

Interesting. My Matrix's are from the first run and they all show more high speed turn than any Reactor I've thrown. Maybe they've tweaked the mold over the years.
