[MVP] MVP Disc Sports (Part VI)

These Beauties were waiting for me on the front porch when I arrived back home from the practice field. fission rhythm 171g and now my third plasma servo 166g having lost the first two in the river on my home course. the rhythm is my second fission this one's almost as flat as a neutron and heavier than the one I had back in the summer which had a little bit of Dome and flippie. which I had a hard time keeping from turning and rolling on me so we'll see what happens. And I think it will do well with the wind.

First time throwing in about 11 days recovering from covid brought a plasma crave and neutron relay with me start off with. some nice and easy and then I started snapping those discs again felt really good. Spent about an hour on the field, looking forward to playing the next couple mornings it's going to be in the 60s.
That is sooooo yellow.
Nice.

You gotta love this, stopped in the local PIAS for the first time in two weeks, had at least 50 MVP/Axiom discs on the rack. As always chatted with the manager/owner its a family business, I've already have known from more than a year and a half ago that MVP brands are there fastest selling discs. The manager tells me he has ordered an MVP rack that will hold a hundred disc, and with it a hundred disc :) including Pixels on pre-order. He wasn't aware of the Eagle Envy, so I showed him a photo and explained about Eagle, told him to pre-order at least 30, they'll be gone quickly.

It's getting harder for me to find a disc I don't already have or just the wrong plastic for a mold I like such as Plasma over Neutron Tesla they had at least 6 Neutron Tesla's on the rack, and an overabundance of others, next time in there I'll coach him on it. I was lusting after a Prism Plasma Envy orange plate and orange rim with the always sparkles, just beautiful. But I've had mine for 16 months love it, dropped a 67-foot putt with it today, no way is it getting replaced. But I can't stop thinking about that orange one, I may go back and get it tomorrow, and just look at it every once in awhile:LOL:.

Just wanted to let everyone know that according to a few "newbies" in the MVP communities, I've been "gatekeeping."

Because... apparently you're supposed to bend over and take it when people promote bad information as a new player and not try and help them....

Please tell me more oh fan of MVP for the last 2 weeks how were all "wrong" about this and that.....

Oh whats that? Eagle said it?
Oh my bad.
I'm sure eagle knows way more than the rest of us who been here since 2015 or even later.... We don't know nothing. Of course not.

Haha I thought that was you... i didnt see you smack down the noobs, i mean the other post. Facebook is a waste of time unless you like pretty pictures and idiots.

Much like the Simon influx our fan numbers have grown another 10%+ overnight. I had a nice fellow I was playing show and tell with on messenger looking for a trade, he's like show me some envy... so I showed him what I'd part with and my melon envy was there for scenery, he's like would you let that go? And I'm like yeah I guess but I'm into it for about $X dollars... and he's like woah! I just wanted something for my bag. I explained it was made over 10yrs ago and was the one of the first melon discs...

Meh if they don't know, they don't know. Kind of like the rare and experimental plasma those had a lot more value 10yrs ago... if you bought one back then you'd be lucky to get 25% of your money back. I'm gonna throw more of my rare stuff I guess haha.

Who am I kidding, I threw most of it already haha. I only have a few things in bags mostly envy and Comets, the other stuff I just hadn't gotten around to throwing.

What's a 1776 inspire worth with white stars? Haha.

Still waiting for my proton "rhythm"....

I finally played a round throwing the Glitch. I used just it and a Wave on a local course. I've had one for a while but I hadn't really thrown it. Just here and there but I had wanted to really get some throws in with it to see if it matched the hype I've seen and heard.

the Glitch lived up to the hype for me. Nothing I've ever thrown has gone as crazy straight as the Glitch did today. At full noodle arm power it just went straight for a surprisingly decent distance without any noticeable turn or fade. A few sharp hyzer approach shots landed exactly were I put them.

The only negative I have about it was I didn't putt well with it. I missed several putts I feel I would have hit with my Ions. Loved it as a straight throwing slow glidely disc but just didn't click with me for putting. I could atill see using a Glitch for a one disc round if needed.

It's fun to throw and really goes were you put it. I thought it was over hyped because of Simon, but honestly, it's not.

What's the one on the right?
Fission 155g envy... I'm getting a feel for it.... still not my favourite for driving.

I was going to get my soft 165 plague doctor one out because it is also orange... might do that next trip downstairs. It all started because I was feeling bad for not throwing the rhythm, I stashed it in the truck with an OTB envy in case of emergency a few months back and I took my better discs to the basement when we hit the minuses....

No disc golf emergencies occurred and I really wasn't jazzed about what was in the yard box. I'm making up for the snow melt and feeling better (probably covid) I crammed in another 5 glow holes while the chickens took their sweet ass time.

Hey did anyone else think that glitch was some weird looking samurai?

I've done a Glitch round, and so have these guys:

Glitch World Championship

It's awful to putt with IMO. Any wind at all and it's less than worthless.

I watched that video a few months ago. It was fun to watch Landon Brooks shoot lights out with his Glitch.

It's basically a 150 class putter so will naturally not be a good putter or with any kind of wind, I don't think that is why MVP made it. Drew Gibson claimed to be the best Glitch thrower, but he admitted he is not a good Glitch putter, lol. Simon is probably the only person who can putt one of them things.

I have 2 150g Glitches, my yellow one seems to be more stable than the blue one. My 162 g glowie is more overstable than both, and can be a serviceable putter. Like my Zephyrs, it is fun to watch the Glitch fly when conditions are right and it is thrown correctly.

Windy yesterday (15-18) which made for great mental exercise. A lightweight (160/1ish) Plasma Photon held up quite well. Pulled out the Fission Defy a few times as well. It's always a little touchy, but cuts like a knife when thrown level. Best shot of the day by a mile was an escape on Oregon Gold 9 from basically the first available to based with a Plasma Motion.

Short approach in the wind is nerve wracking. I don't know how folks keep their wits about them in Emporia. The Tempo was getting moved around and so everything was basically Entropy/Pyro which still pushed straight.

Soon as the Watt came out, I dropped the glitch like a hot potato.

Watt does everything the glitch does, but its max weight and less fussy.

Glitch isn't bad disc, I just don't get that hyped over it.

And yes, its hard to putt with 150 class putters.

Haha I thought that was you... i didnt see you smack down the noobs, i mean the other post. Facebook is a waste of time unless you like pretty pictures and idiots.

The conversation started on reddit as people suddenly the accepted cross over from G-Star is ... no longer plasma...
I'm like.. Okay since when.
"they are nothing alike."

Okay... I throw G-star and Plasma.. and they are pretty close.

Then someone came back with "Gstar is always flippy, plasma isn't." And... I got really confused, cause they obviously haven't thrown any new Gstar, cause ... the new g-star mamba's... lawl. I can backhand roll a firebird easier than those suckers.

So then that turned into "Soft neutron is closer to g-star"....... and so now I'm really confused and just gave up on the conversation.

The only thing neutron is close to is K1 plastic. Those are 2 unique plastics on the market. G-star isn't "unique." Everyone has their blend of that.

My only conclusion at that point is these were new MVP fans from 2 weeks ago who were gonna tell everyone how wrong they are or something. I've been throwing MVP 8 years... I guess I don't know the crossovers for the plastics?? Everyone else for the last few years have been suggesting the wrong plastic, plasma, for anyone asking about G-star? All us old heads, were to dumb and fuddy or something?

Anyways, yeah, I was gate keeping with my facebook posts cause I was "discouraging" new MVP throwers.
No, I'm not going to bend over and take it up the ass for you to say dumb shit. Am I wrong sometimes? Oh sure, but correcting people isn't "gatekeeping." Now that thread is absolutely filled with some of the rarest of rare discs you'll ever see from people who've been tossing MVP for years. And some of the most coolest stuff you'll never know about.

But not a SINGLE question from any of these "new guys" about any of it.

I showed him what I'd part with and my melon envy was there for scenery, he's like would you let that go? And I'm like yeah I guess but I'm into it for about $X dollars... and he's like woah! Yeah, they think that stuff is just some other disc. I've gotten it a few times where people get upset about the price. "I can go buy that disc on amazon for 15 dollars."

Okay, go buy it on amazon for 15 dollars and show it to me.
You can go buy a "new" version of the disc for 15 dollars, but you cannot buy this 1 of 500 collector version of the disc that values around 100-150 dollars on the market. I think it was 500 on the Envys.
Theory was 300? I forget these. I never was a melon collector. I just bought the theory and proxy when I collected my set because they were the only way to get that disc in proton for the full set.
I think a melon paradox is all I have now.

Collector value on stuff will come back again. Just going to take some time.

Gotta remember all the eagle fans are like 12.
So, they dont have any money.

I don't bag either, but I could actually use a Watt. I have a couple of Glitches(people keep giving them to me for some reason) and can't throw them that well, but a borrowed a Watt and it's actually pretty good.

Watt with SE stamp.
The other right dumbass.

Haha yeah the theory was the highest fetching but I'd be surprised if the envy would fetch over $100. I've seen a few things come up where I expected a lot more. The disc market for old stuff is in decline.. but you can buy a variant lizottle hex for more than you can probably sell a melon envy for.

MVP is cashing in on the idiots (unintentionally). They have literally said they will make enough so everyone can have one. I'm surprised the FR time-lapse is still holding value with the stock run out.

The 167 SE Watt started out good for me, I wobbled it a little with bad storage it was showing turn before that, now it's worse, i had already secured a 172 watt before "the incident". My glitch still holds straight, the Watt likes to wander, but the Watt will still handle more torque as long as you expect the flip up.

The Watt started more like a baby buzzz or tangent but now it wanders like an uplink.

The eclipse 162 glitch is pretty awesome though, soft eclipse works wonders. A little more stable and a lot more putt-able
