So my buddy that i play quite often with recently said he lost a disc. When i asked him how, he said he threw his first disc and then threw his a second just for fun, and he threw it wide right of the hole by a little bit. The hole in question has trees lining the right side of the fairway til where the hole is, where it opens up and hole 2's fairway is near there. So he approaches with his first throw and goes to get his second. When he looks for it, he sees these two fat drunk guys, so he asks them if they've seen his disc, and they say no, but he could tell they were lying about it. The thing is though, me and these other guys I disc golf with are all soccer players, and small guys in general, I'm one of the largest at 5'9 145. This guy is 5'8 130 or so... So what was he supposed to do in that sort of situation? Intimidation clearly wouldn't work, and if he paid him off, that's just encouraging taking peoples discs. What was my buddy supposed to do about these douche bags?

Start carrying handguns....

wait, no, forget that.

Sometimes in life, things happen that I like to call "life lessons." You could get angry at these punks, kick 'em in the nads yell "Give me back my disc you scum suckers..." and then find out the disc is lying right there behind that tree over there. -or-
Threaten to call the cops over a $15 or so piece of plastic. -or-
Just chalk it up in the "sometimes life hands you situations that suck, and there's not a whole lot you can do about it, so suck it up and move on" column.

Jukeshoe: <--------Starting a clinic on "Life Lessons." ;)

Yeah I suppose just have to chalk it up as a bad situation. i guess he could have maybe pressured him a little more. Yeah it is only a 15 dollar piece of plastic, though me and my buddies usually only use 2 discs when we play, driver and putter. And it was a perfectly broken in boss that this guy threw pretty well most of the time. It just sucks that some guys with like 25 discs would steal a disc from some guys that have only 2 discs. My buddies just had to leave since they didn't have another driver. Oh and it's possible they didn't take it, just really unlikely since 2 doesn't have any trees at all anywhere on the fairway, and the disc kinda sticks out. Let's just hope he continues to play disc golf :-(.

Yeah, that sucks. Could be that those guys have 25 discs simply because they are douches and steal others'. I had a similar situation once where someone stole my only driver on the first hole of a course, I confronted them, they denied it (badly), and the rest of my day was ruined (both the score and my attitude.) But I rest easy at night knowing a special niche in Disc Golf Hell is reserved for that be-yotch.

Real men return discs.

My buddy had someone steal his perfectly beat in Boss once. He was pretty annoyed but he asked the dudes if they had it. He didn't wanna be a jerk though, so he took it as a loss.

Lol don't get me wrong, I think my buddies could have beat them up, especially since they were drunk, but there's no intimidation. So I guess bigger friends would help...

That's why lil' guys need scary, visible tattoos of things like giant octopi grappling with whales...for the intimidation factor. :|

lol or if we started playing in our soccer cleats or something. haha octopi grappling with whales. i dont' think that would fit on anybody's arms that i play with though.

You've got to put it on your forehead for the full effect...:p

If they've done it to you, they've probably done it to others. If you've got a camera phone handy, snap a pic of them.

When someone stole one of my discs last year, I went back to the parking lot and took down the plate number of every car in the lot. Then I followed them around the course. Eventually they had to leave in at least one of those cars. Once I knew what car, I knew what car to look for next time they were there. Of course, I haven't seen them back since.

I saw these drunk guys blowing an air horn a couple weeks ago at the DG park and some disc golfers went up to them and got in their face and there was a pretty big argument and some pushing and shoving before everybody took off because someone yelled "here come the cops!". It was a lot of drama. Kind of reminded me of jackass when Johnny knoxville was blowing an airhorn on the golf course. The world is full of all kinds of wierdo's and douchebags and sometimes they bump into each other in public.

Sorry that happened,
if you dont feel safe about confronting them, then its just plastic, better than a hospital visit! (still blows pond water)

you could call the cops on them, tell the cops they are loud and being rude and you think they are drunk!
