DFW disc golf

i don't see why a group of us from the forum or any other group can't just pick a day to go clean up the course.

Please allow me to suggest you to seek the advice of an attorney on this matter, or at least look up the term "waste" in black's law dictionary.

Bottom line is, don't do anything without the city's explicitly written permission.

TINLA IANYL

PS: And good luck with getting this city's permission, or any DFW city's permission, to do anything at all, even if you bring money to the table.

FT claims 3 home courses on Disc golf Scene, one of which is Vets. While you're on DGS fact checking my story, how about you accept my friend request already, ya bum you?

DGS is a poor excuse for research Jen... =P. I haven't been on that site since my hdd crashed. I will jump on right now. Thanks for the reminder.

Looking at the list... Z is listed before V. =P LOVE YA JEN!!

Know how hard it is to get a group of people to clean a Fort Worth course? I gave up and I do it myself.
On a side note: There is an organized clean-up event tomorrow at Z-Boaz tomorrow. Get involved if you can. If any course needs attention in DFW, it's the most populous course in our area.

I would gladly help at zboaz but I will be at work. I have noticed the trash getting a little out of control out there. I need to start carrying a trash bag out there with me just to pick up some when I go play.

Funkytown and ADGA both claim Vets. ADGA seems to pwn the heck out of Vets, basically live there, and even hold multiple PDGA tourneys there per year, so I would agree that if either of the two should drop vets and adopt Gateway, it ought to be FT. But what's stopping you from extending your influence as far as Gateway? If FT and AGDA can share Vets, seems you ought to be able to reach out as far as Gateway. And if you did, you could make sure it was done right, and not have to shake your head in sorrow at the feeble efforts of others and call them out over it on the Internet. That's so win win!

If it wasn't on the other side of the world I might make an effort. I played it cause I happened to be there. The sad thing is, is that course had been there for far to long for even the locals not to make an attempt. So before you go trying to knock me down for not helping try helping your own cause. After all I got Towne lake

Agreed. GW isn't that far from me, but it is out of my way... and I have never cared for that park since it was known as a homosexual hookup. ZB takes enough of my time/space.

I was interested in playing the course at GW... but I have been told numerous times to not even bother.

I've wanted to play Gateway for over a year now. I'll get out there asap. The group of 50+yo guys I usually play with think of Gateway as yellow fever or something. I'll give it a go alone. I'm in pretty good shape for a grandmaster and usually play conservatively.

I live in Garland, so this is a long trek for me. Greenbriar, Bicentennial and Sonora Park are also courses I want to play (because I've never played them). I've heard good things about Bicentennial.

I think you are more fortunate than you realize to live in a city that is willing to let the locals get involved in course care like that. I and others have tried to extend a hand and even money to improve courses in Mesquite, Garland, and Grapevine, at least, only to be told no. Grapevine won't even let people pick up trash or hold minis. I'm not sure how Ft Worth is, but Mesquite and Garland are extremely reluctant to let people do anything at all, and put up obstacle after obstacle, and then delay and say maybe next year.

I know how fortunate I am to have 2 sweet courses that offer all types of players from the very new to the top pro and everything in between and I'm grateful for that. I am just wondering why that course has been there so long, has unlimited potential, and nobody seems to care?

I have avoided Gateway because everyone says the back nine is so overgrown with waist high grass that you should expect to lose a lot of discs every time you play there. But even if it were well groomed, I think most people would avoid a course that difficult, sort of like Dogwood at Lindsey Park in Tyler, TX. The other two courses in Lindsey park usually have people playing, but I've never seen another group on Dogwood when I played it. The difficulty level makes it not that fun to play for the vast majority of people. You have to be pretty hard core to subject yourself to that kind of 4 hour beat down, when there are two, two hour, happy fun times nearby to be had. Gateway has similar competition with a lot of other, less difficult courses nearby.

Be that as it may, too bad for people on that side of the world. I going to my 2 favorite courses so like a fat kid in dodgeball.....

I played Gateway 3 years ago. Why have I never gone back? It was a bitch to navigate using a DGCR map and the roughest course I've ever played. It felt like I was battling the elements more than playing a round of DG. There were chiggers, huge mozzies, poison ivy, thorns, marshes, hidden stumps, and high grass on the fairways, if you can call them that, and the icing on the cake was the creepy dudes popping up out of nowhere to stare as you go by. I did not have fun or feel safe there.

On the positive side; With the drought, this may be the best time to play there.

I played last week and there was no swanp or huge bugs. Fall/winter is the best time to clean up and try this course out.
