I'm turning over Pro Destroyers & Wraiths. Any suggestions to help a guy?

I have really increased my distance in the last year. I have started to reach back farther and get my hips more into the motion. I now throw very steady at 320' and can hit 350' on occasion. I know these distances are accurate because of where I play. I have thrown it past number 17 at Newport News and I can just reach number 2.

My problem is even releasing my Wraith, and now my Destroyers, with a hyzer on them I am still turning them over. It is not a little turn over it is really flipping.

Would a simple plastic change help or do I need to go to a Boss or Katana. I like wide rims.

Seeing as you have 2.9 years experience, I'm not going to accuse you of having OAT problems but I will ask, do you?

Either that, or the discs you're using are severely broken in to the point of no return.

Also, what weights are you throwing?

Its not OAT. I know the difference. The discs are not past the point of no return. The weights range from 168 to 175.

I am simply turning them over. I can throw a Discraft Flash in Elite Z plastic and it flies dead straight with a little hyzer at the end. It is very overstable and a great disc. Very much like a longer flying Innova Viper. But I lose about 30 to 40 feet in distance.

I started to have that problem with Pro Destroyers and Wraiths as well. I moved to champion plastic because they are a little more stable and that provided better results.

you need to drop both the Wraith and the Destro and go back to a Teebird (or anything slower) while you get your form straightened out. If you are throwing with a hyzer motion but still turning these discs over you are putting off-axis torque on the disc (read you are twisting your forearm during your swing).

I'm not one to coach a guy that throws over 300 feet... so... I'd buy some star or champ plastic. They start out more overstable than pro plastic... and take longer to wear in.

You could also be throwing too hard. I know that it sounds silly, but I caught myself doing that exact thing. I was trying for more distance and throwing big arm discs flat. The discs would come out flat and then go right hard (RHBH). You have to back off and let the discs do the work.

Plus, most discs aren't made to go over 350' flat on a straight line. Most people use big turn over or a flex shot to get up and over 400. For me to get out to 350', I have to do a slight hyzer turn over with my beat in 166 gram Nuke. The max I can get on the straight and narrow is 300'.

Look it is simple.

I know the difference between OAT and turning a disc over. Making assumptions about me and assuming I cannot own up to something is ludicrous. Hell I am 49 and I have no use for machismo. I just want to improve my game and I AM turning these discs over.

I have been having this problem for awhile. As a matter of fact I it began before I bought the discs I mentioned. SO even when new they were turning over, getting flippy, or whatever you wish to call it.

I am adding hyzer to the release and I am not perfect in my mechanics but I work very hard at them.

As for the Flash. That thing has flown for me just like a long range Viper. SO weather it is a freak or what ever it is how it flies.

Don't listen to all the pinche vatos. :(

Get yourself an Echo Star Destroyer, and a Flat top Star Wraith, and let er rip. :D

If you like lighter weights, Innova is now producing Star Light Destroyers down to around 165 grams that are stable like a Firebird.

You can buy new discs if it makes you feel better. But new wraiths and destroyers wont turn over at 350. After you start rolling your new champ max weight destroyer, admit you have an oat problem then come back and learn how to fix it.

Sounds like it's time to throw from the longer tees...I hear some teenager aced #2 from the long tees... :)

If you're turning over fast, stable discs when brand new, even when thrown hyzer, you've got a technique problem. Shoot a video and post it and maybe someone wiser than me can help you. As for me, I've only birdied 17 twice and 2 once, and I've never overthrown either of them, so I can't help much.

No it's not, he knows the difference. He's reminded me twice...

Your sarcasm is lousy. You can do better.

I have had others with a lot of experience, over 30 in one case, watch me do this. I just want some disc help here. I have plenty of people I trust, on site, to help make technique adjustments.

As it was related to me the ace you speak of was done by Tyler. He is 17 and very good. He has had a measured throw in a distance competition of over 600'.

If you just want disc help, pick something faster and/or more stable. Try a star version of the same discs, or pick up a pro boss, or a star boss etc.

Putter rounds are also great. If you're overthrowing with a driver, see if you can get a roc out there.
