Super Ace thread!

To start it off, I recently aced hole 12 at Red Arrow Park in Oshkosh, WI with a yellow Z wasp. It is a pretty wide open hole and is 286 feet.

What did you ace?

This ace thread is off to a shaky start

Just got my first 'first throw' ace tonight Hole 3 Westmoreland, 270' or so, I'll have to look it up.. Eagle CEX 175, nice smooth hyzer, lost track of it over the hill, gratifying sound of chain smashing.. Did it spit out? Nope, ACE!

Hopefully my luck carries over to the Ace Race comin up

I actually witnessed two last Saturday, July 24th. Hole 1 at Rankin Lake, and the safari playoff hole to break a tie in club singles earlier that morning. It was a sweet shot, about 220 feet through and around lots of trees.

And don't I sound like a jerk here with that "shaky start" business

When I posted it originally it was in an Ace discussion thread that didn't have any actual Ace posts in it

Anyhoo, I'm pretty stoked, 1 Ace plus one cubby Ace (second toss hole 7 short Westmoreland, SSS 171 Wizard on that one) in 2010 so far! None before this year (Thank you Westmoreland :D)

Hi Eagle01,

Westmoreland in Eugene, OR? :) We need to play a round sometime! I'm there most weekday evenings, after around 6:30pm. Westmoreland is definitely a great place for Aces, too.. I have one recorded here on DGCR there.. hole 7 in the short position. I have another ace there on hole 6 short position from one of my first rounds ever, and a second throw skip-ace on hole 3 (too bad it wasn't the first throw :p). It sounded from above like you'll be in the Ace Race at the Grove? I'll be there, too. :)

Hey jeverett, Eagle01 = Scott, we've played many rounds, and I'm certainly looking forward to many more w/ ya :D

I need to do a better job of posting my rounds on here, I ended up 4 down during my Ace round, was hoping for lower :\. I bogeyed 4 like a chump, birdied 2, 7 and 9 in addition to the Ace on 3 (Westy is a basic 9 holer for the unitiated). A good round, but you had 9 down was it? That's 4 strokes better than my best (and tied for the best I've heard of for nine holes at Westy), which I didn't quite match even w/ my Ace .

9 down is a sick score, please tell my wife I need more practice lol

I will just do my 2010 aces. First was in the snow in I think late February hole 17 east side in A position at Anna Page Park in Rockford Illinois. Only 195 feet down hill open hyzer with a camp rhyno. Second was in early April. I hit number 5 from the blue tees at East Roswell Park in Roswell Georgia. I hit it with a pro pig. 257 foot hole pretty cool ace since it was my first time playing the course. Third was sometime in June I hit hole 2 at Oregon Park in Marietta Georgia. I hit it with a star teebird. It's a 320 foot hole with some trees in the way. Threw a big hyzer. My forth and most recent ace this year was again at Anna Page park but on the west course. I hit number 11 in A position. With the same star teebird. It's a 360 foot hole with a low branch you have to throw under and then the basket is in a cove of tress and bushes with only an opening in the front. The last was my best ace ever for obvious reasons. I have hit 9 aces overall as long as you count tone poles. Also have a few bounce outs this year, so it could of been a few more but hey I'm not complaining.

My third ace, and first of 2010 was in february at dexter park hole #3 with an ESP FLX Buzzz

Congrats!

Love my FLX Buzzz... Have any opinions on how the FLX Buzzz flies compared to Z or X? Buzzz has won the mid showdown w/ the Roc in my bag (sorry Roc lovers, but I'm just not into the stages of DX wear game), and I'm looking to expand my Buzzz arsenal..

Fully expecting to hit a Buzzz ace at some point :)

Good News: I'm throwing my Eagle out of my mind lately, just got another ace at Westmoreland hole 7 long, 296' as listed on here, but that seems a little long, 285' anyway.. Anyway, it was the best shot I've done thus far, took the exact line I was envisioning, hit solid into the middle chains on a sweet hyzer line through the middle of the fairway.. Made a run at this same pin on a similar line during the next round, I'm loving the Champ Eagle-X 175

Bad News: My round was a joke up to that point, +1, -1 after the ace.. Finished up -2 that round. Can't count on aces to keep my score respectable.. I have no rational expectation to ever encounter another tee that's as screwed up as Westy 7.. It slopes down and is pointed slightly goofy for the line most people (including myself) take on the hole. Doing well with this tee translates to nowhere else on Earth :D My damn shoulder is acting up if I throw anything but backhands, so the few holes I like to forehand I'm needing to figure out new lines for backhand. My backhand shot is seemingly unaffected by the shoulder, I overshot hole 4 409' by 10' or so w/ my Champ Boss 171, no pain whatsoever

My body is telling me to take better care of it as I get older. I used to throw whatever I wanted as recently as 5 years ago (37 now), thumber, tommy, FH, didn't matter, not a twinge of pain. Feels like Rotator Cuff if I had to guess when it hurts.. I wonder if weight training will help protect that joint?

Hit 16 and 1 from the shorts at Arboretum this year. Hoping to get another during a league game so I can take the Ace Pot.

Aces are crazy. I was playing a round recently and nothing was going right. I told my other players that it was cool because when I played poorly i usually aced. I got to the last hole uphill acroos water and pured it for the ace. It was my ace #133. I must play bad often.

Yesterday at lunch I told a coworker I was going to pay for 2 aces in my weekly series. I run a popular series that averages over 60 players per week. I pay $50 for all aces. Last night there were 2 aces. One guy had dyed a disc for the 1st time and told his sister on the way to the course that he was going to ace hole #5 with his fresh dyed disc. I was on hole 6 and his sister was ahead on hole 7. She pointed it out to me that there was a disc in the basket. $100 gone.

In the past two weeks I have had two aces. One was in Snohomish on hole #3 with a coyote and the other was at Lake Stevens on hole #2. Both are in the state of WA and I have had atleast one ace at both courses previously. I am at 10 basket aces and 4 tone now and counting...
