Oh no he di-int. Yep, I went there. In the spirit of the legendary, are overstable mids pointless thread, I've decided to throw down the gauntlet on you Rhyno, Pig, Bulldog, Zone, etc throwers.

I found a Champ Rhyno a few days ago and was literally aghast at how glideless and short it was. What's the point of a putter like this if it can't be put on finesse oriented lines? "But BroD, it gets windy here." Okay, couldn't you throw a mid instead when it's really gusting? Sometimes I think some of you guys need to man up and learn to throw a regular putter (Wizard, Aviar, Magnet, etc.) with hyzer instead of chucking some glideless hunk of plastic at the basket like some sort of crutch.

Prove me wrong DGCR faithful. :D

i totally agree with you. all putters fly basically the same when you putt with them...driving is a different animal. i personally rotate between putter molds all the time. most people stick with one, and i do for the most part, but it's a neutral flight putter (magic).

that being said, any given month, i'll have putted at least a round with a rhyno, aviar, ion, wizard, voodoo, magic, magnet, challenger...

i also agree with the fact that the rhyno flies like a dried cow pie. they drop so fast. especially when you've been putting with an ion...that's why i have a few 160s rhynos, they stay up a little longer

Added a poll. Now we be all like, scientific and stuff.

i guess its all in preference. some people like neutral putters, understable, or overstable. i love my vp because it has some glide but its also overstable.

n' shizz

*the spirit of Jukeshoe lives on*

the ONLY reason i could justify an overstable putter, would be big spike hyzers...even then, give me a buzzz

i dont see the point in driving with them when you could just use a mid. maybe thats just me though

I said yes, but thats just because I royally hate putters with alot of fade.

I too, don't like overstability for actually putting, but love my Challenger for approaches, so I can see how the Vibram and Rhyno fit into some people's bags.

But for hitting chains, I like something more neutral, that I can put a bit of loft on without fear of severe fade.

Agreed. Wizards and Aviar-X's are tits. I do enjoy a good Warlock for anny putts just cause it'll hold that line with little or no force behind it. Played with a guy who used a Challenger and he kept missing left or trying to hook it in...

I am a part of the Wizard faithful, but I've seen some great putters using Rhynos so they can't be entirely useless. I even bought a VP (and an Ion to cover both sides of the Wizard's stability) to see if I was missing something. Haven't had a chance to throw it yet, but I see it being more of a mega-windy/utility putter than a workhorse.

Might have been ME,
....pre APX!!!:D

this whole poll really depends how you putt. if you "swing" putt, you probably use overstable putters. if you loft/push putt, your probably throwing a neutral putter. i don't know what the point of UNDERstable putters are more than overstable ones

My Challenger is beat enough that it flies like a Magnet on approaches and putts. I'm digging the Challenger more right now because it feels better in my hand. Of course it feels kind of like an Aviar, which makes me wonder why I don't just throw one of those instead...but I don't really ask myself questions like that.

I too will dissent, I have used rhynos or pigs for years for forehand approaches and long forehand putts. They are very accurate in the 75-200 ft range. It can be easier than throwing backhand since you can look at the target straight on as you throw. Never used them backhand or for putting.

The best putter is the one you are most familiar with. Some are great for driving, some are great for precision, and all are great for anything. Question is, can you make this putt? How 'bout the next one? I'm sure you've all heard the term "Drive for show, putt for dough."

Pick one that feels ergonomic, consistent, and confident, and use the **** out of it. You can't go wrong.
