Longest 18 hole course?

I played Old English Golf Course last weekend and they had a map with distances of the disc golf course thanks to the Patoka Lake Open played there earlier this month. As I was adding the distances here on DGCR, I got wondering what the longest course is. Flyboy Aviation is about 350ft longer than Old English, but Flyboy has 9 more holes.

What's the longest course you've played?

Anyone know of a longer 18 hole course than Old English at 13,920ft?

Yeah it is awfully long, but you get a golf cart which is a tremendous help.

Thats a damn long 18.

Anything over 9k is damn silly IMO.

I would generally agree ........ However on that course you have golf carts so exhaustion and leg fatigue inst that big of a factor; arm fatigue will be though.

The longest course I've played it Blue Valley in KC .... tips out its around 11,000 ft. I don't hink a single hole is under 500ft in the tips which makes for a long and not that fun of a round ....... with that said it will challenge your game and make you learn to throw in the wind and will want you to be able to throw farther than 400ft

The longest wooded / rugged course I've played is Ozark Mountain in Vichy, MO. The roughly 10,000 ft has it all ..... huge elevation, creeks, ponds, rock faces, open shots, woods, tunnels, long holes and ace-able holes. It is the most complete course on a design and variety level I have ever played. Getting par 72 and 10,000 ft with ace runs and not all 500 ft holes is amazing.

All 3 courses at the IDGC are also great exapmples of wooded courses with considerable length ..... Steady Ed - 7'900; Warner - 9'300; and Jackson - 9'300 ft. I was pressed for time when in the area and played all 3 back to back to back in an afternoon .... I was hurting for a few days to say the least :gross:

I'm really hoping to check out the IDGC courses soon, they look like a lot of fun!

Iron Hill is listed at 10045 and is a bona fide SSA 72. The only listing for Old English is an SSA under 66 in 2008 so it must not have been played from its max positions. Seems like the DG course that used to be on a Sarasota golf course was around 13,000 ft.

Patapsco Valley Stare Park in Marriottsville, MD is ~9300ft par 67 long tees to C baskets. They got a second set of baskets about a year ago so you can play the 'Green Monster' layout anytime you want. A local guy won 9 green DGA baskets in a raffle, and the local club came up with the funds for the other 9.

I'm not sure what tee pads and OB were used for that 2008 tourney.

The course was played in the Patoka Lake Open earlier this month. Pro and adv played it round 1, int and rec played it round 3. That's where I got the hole info from. I'm interested to see what the SSA and official round ratings are. It really sucks I had to miss that tournament :(

The Ozark course may be the toughest long layout anywhere. I have yet to play it; but from what I've heard...I also keep trying to get in on the "One Horse Gap" layout; which, I believe, changes each year. Dave Mac doesn't communicate very well in regards to that temp course layout though....Search for some vids on that course; crazy layout to say the least....

The ball golf course layouts are probably going to win in the longest course contest; in the long run. IMHO that's not fun disc though. Huge arms will probably disagree.

Iron Hill in Delaware and Foundation in Centralia, IL appear to have the the highest SSAs in competition at 72, topping Ozark by a shot or two. Dave McCormack is the designer for 2 of the 3 mentioned.

Centralia is some tough, but amazing fun disc. Iron Hill appears to be a beat down course; much like Nevin, in N.C. except for much more elevation than Nevin has....I liked Nevin. Tough; plus tight lines = fun, for my taste. Simply long = boring....Again, huge arms may like pure length. It is the wave of the future though. You will probably all have noted the recent rise of Flyboy to the top ten.

I played FlyBoy without a cart and it doesn't feel long. It's playing 27 holes that makes it feel long. Also, consider that 1600 feet of that length for the first 18 is one hole and there's another 1000 footer. That means many of the remaining first 18 holes are reachable in one (good) shot making the course not feel as long. However, there are only two reachables on the final 9 and two par 5s so that finish makes it feel longer.

Edgebrook DGC on a ball golf course in Chicago is listed as 15000'+ from the longs, though there's only detailed hole info from the shorts (still well over 12000').

The 9 hole course on a golf course at Hobson Grove in Bowling Green is listed as 8512' from the longs, extrapolate that to 18 and that's 17000'.

I'm not a dg on a ball golf course hater, I actually think its a novel idea and a great way to add exposure, but in this conversation about longest courses I kind of discount these DG / Ball Golf courses. Of course there long .... A - they usually follow the golf course so they naturally will be long for flow reasons and B - They're usually long for the sake of being long because usually the only real challenge they try to offer.

I think DG on ball golf course should be discounted. Lets change this to the "Longest 18 Hole Course Not on a Ball Golf Course"

never played a hellishly long course yet. I would say Moraine is the longest I've played at 7064 from the blues and 8264 from the one gold tee round I did. It doesn't seem like that long of a walk though.
