Discs that you wanted to make the cut that didn't

What discs have you been really excited about, but ended up being a huge disappointment when you finally got to throw them?

My most recent example of this is the Halo. That disc is complete garbage. Yes, it looks cool, and maybe I got a bad run but it pales in comparison to ALL of the other wide rim discs I've thrown. This includes Destroyers, Bosses, Nukes, Forces, Xcalibers, DD2, and Katanas. I took all those out to a field and threw both FH and BH and not once in the 30 minutes I threw was the Halo within 40 feet of the others. Maybe it still needs to wear in to get the glide I hear others talking about, but I just didn't see it.

The D Avenger. I might have gotten a bad one but it was overstable with very little carry. It flew like my Spirits but shorter and harder to control.

Distance Driver- Destroyer
Fairway Driver- Stalker
Mid- QMS
Putter- APX

All are fabulous discs but just didn't quite beat out the competition. The auditions were very very close though.

Classic Roc (not the midrange, the one classed as a putter). When I bought it a couple of fellow players told me I'd love the thing. But, after using it for a while now, I'm not really a fan of it. I'm not sure what it is but it's just not my thing.

I think the biggest flop I've seen was when a buddy of mine ordered a Groove. Oh my...

Stalker. I heard so many great things and got it first in ESP. Felt good in the hand and I really like the looks of the plain white with a nice blue "Discraft" across the center but didnt care for how it flew. Tried a glow and a Z after that thinking the ESP was just different but I didnt like those either.

Im sure there are others but thats the one where I really tried and didnt like it. Theres tons of discs I like a lot but just dont find a need to carry them.

Katana. Really like the idea of it, but a broken in surge or wraith goes just as far, fits my hand better, and is easier to control. Thanks, but no thanks Innova.

Wow, that's almost exactly what I would have said except switch Destroyer with Wraith or Xcal.

Rhyno for me. maybe it's because I got it in dx, but the thing flies like an ostrich

X comet = the bomb btw, don't know whats up with yours

Exactly what I was going to post. I thought the katana would give me an extra 30-40 feet. But turns out my broken in star wraith goes just as far if not farther, and much more consistently.

I have a few discs that I love, I love how they fly, but they would just overlap too much for my bag. The first two that come to mind are Buzzz and Mako.

I really wanted those (bought years apart) to work, but neither really had a place in my bag. I liked them so much it was really hard to reach that conclusion.

I have a sweet CE Firebird I don't carry anymore. i think I carried it just because I liked it as a disc. But it didn't really fill any gaps for me.

I have had a multitude of Star and Climo Champ Tee-birds. Haven't loved any of them nearly as much as my DX plastic.

I carried a custom stamped X-Clone from my home course in illinois (hey there GRABM folks) for years, but finally put it on the shelf as I didn't actually throw it much at all.

I have to imagine if I looked through my cabinet of plastic I wcould really expand this list.

For me, it's been just about every Lat 64 disc that I've tried (Blitz, Striker, River, Vision). It's not that they don't fly well, it that they fly fantastic but just don't sit well in my hand. For whatever reason, the relieved inner rim that feels so nice makes it so I have a tough time getting a proper grip. I would get these amazing lines, but at the expense of consistency and some accuracy. Not the disc's fault, but disappointing nonetheless.

As far as disappointing discs go: I'd have to say the Groove, Mako, Tracker, and my first run ESP Crush let me down the most. The Crush was heavy and out of the box it was flippier than my 167 Surge.....Not exactly what I was looking for.

CE QMS...great disc and CE but I couldn't throw it
anything faster than Speed 11 (except for the Ultra Light Destroyer)...I don't have big enough hands or good enough snap to throw/control them so they are wasted on me

After I read all the cool stuff here about the Katana, I really thought it would be the disc that would get me the extra distance with control I am always looking for.

I keep Xcal's, Boss's, Destroyers, and even a Groove in the bag, and can throw them all, but the benefits of the Katana continue to elude me.

So it lives in the box. :(

Drivers: All wide rimmed stuff just cant get them up to speed but I still try them every once in a while

Mids: Core Fuse and the Latest Ace race. Nothing wrong with any of them I just keep going back to the Buzzz

Putter All Gateway I get one in a plastic I like and then cant find it again for backups. Gave up and am very happy with Omega AP

Most Recent River I truly liked this disc but its flight for me was more like a PPD so it didnt stick and the Cyclone is back in the bag
