Grip EQ large bag

If you come to Austin you will be treated very very well :)
PM me your address, I am going to send you a local beer :)

I'll get down there one of these days. Portland, Austin, Charlotte and New England are high on my list for future disc golf vacation destinations.

While I appreciate the local beer offer, it is really not necessary. I will send you a PM anyways because my momma taught me to never look a gift horse in the mouth. ;)

Good luck on the contest! :hfive:

Who's had one of these since last summer and can comment on durability so far?

I purchased a "gently used" 2nd run in September 2011.

I use it at least once or twice per week. No issues whatsoever. The only reason it looks a little different now is because of some dust/dirt.

I certainly hope I am able to say the same next year and the year after that....

I've had the 2nd Ed. since they came out. Bags gets dirty but cleans up to look new. No holes, rips or malfunction on my bag. Its solid. A mahal owner I know just ordered a grip ;)

I'm also a Mahal owner who just ordered a Grip after using my wife's for a week.

I purchased my Grip bag around July of last summer. It's been nothing but awesome. Absolutely no problems with it at all. Only thing wrong with mine is its a little dirty and I can't seem to find a good pocket to keep my loose change (it just goes everywhere haha). Sometimes its hard to get the bag to stand up on a hill, but thats not a major issue unless the bag rolls down the hill.

Yeah, that's the first thing I noticed when I got mine. No zippered internal pockets to keep loose change and other small stuff. I'd write but that doesn't mean MY bag is going to get an upgrade :p

The hillsides are my numero Uno concern, with any bag. But the rails on the Grip hopefully give it some help...

FWIW, I use the zippered pocket above the GRIP logo for my keys, loose change and other misc. stuff.

As a player who typically carries 12-16 discs for a round, I have no need to stuff that pocket with discs.

The rails are a big plus IMHO. On steep hills, you just have to position it correctly, otherwise it will fall over....no BA, BS or GED required to figure it out. ;)

Wow. If I may ask, why the switch? Everything I've read is the Mahal is like the Holy Grail of bags...

The grip feels lighter and rides better on my back. Plus I like how the putters sit higher off the ground so I don't have to bend down to grab a putter.

The mahal rode great if I used the chest strap, but otherwise I would have to tighten the shoulder straps every time to get it to ride comfortably. The straps are designed for backpacking, not constantly removing the bag.

I rarely used the pockets fully expanded on the Mahal because I didn't like how discs sat in the side pockets. I can fit a couple more discs in the Grip than just the main part of the Mahal.

I'll probably hold on to the Mahal for a while in case I change my mind, but right now I'm liking the Grip better.

Im am the former Mahal owner Mr. Sleezo was talking about. I actually sold my Mahal not because of disappointment with the bag but wanting to get some funds to buy a cyclocross bike. However, I sold some more golf related stuff and had enough funds to buy the Grip so I did. I didnt buy another Mahal because Ive already been there and done that. I loved the Mahal for sure but I do think the Grip will suit my needs better.

I agree with a couple of the points discreid mentions. I too constantly had to adjust the shoulder straps because I never used the chest strap. The chest strap is just not functional for golf as you have to put the bag on and off way to often.

Also, my bag was always set up in pretty much the smallest position, I typically carry between 13-16 discs. I very slightly expanded the side pockets because I like to put my mids in the side pockets overstable one side and understable the other side. So it was a lot of bag for what I really used. I also dont carry many extras at all, just towels and socks really.

I will also say an annoying feature of the Mahal even though it really wasnt a big deal to me was that it always wants to fall backwards due to the weight of the yoke. Again not a big deal but can be annoying, also makes putting your bag on a stool very difficult. Lastly, even though the Mahal rides wonderfully and saved my back tons it does weigh 5lbs with nothing in it so it can get heavy once you load it up. The yoke does distribute the weight very well but still heavy is heavy after 2-3 rounds in a day which I do a lot.

I put my keys and wallet in the pocket in front of the disc compartment. When its pushed back to allow access to the discs, its easy to grab and put things into that pocket.

I wouldnt do that they will fall out I lost some patches in the pocket:/

Well less than a week and Ive got a snag.
Already emailed them about it.

The system to raise the putters in my quiver is broken. The piece that holds the snap has come undone. Not the side with the ribbon, but the other snap...

Did you hear back on this yet?

My new rig! Waiting on the paracord to show up and then I will have matching zipper pulls (Neon Orange/Green).

I have not taken this bad boy to the course yet, however from playing around with it here at home I can already say I like it More than my Mahal that I had for about a year and a half.

I posted on here earlier that after 3 rounds I had a problem.

Where the snap on the backside of the putter quiver came off. The thread just simply unraveled.
I emailed Grip and they immediately responded and said theyd replace the bag.

I asked if I could re-sew it myself without voiding the warranty, and they said go for it, but if its not a success theyd still replace it.

I fixed it fairly easily.
Sending me a tshirt too.

I was a little bummed it happened. But, no harm no foul. And a free tshirt.

Other than that little snag, the bag is built like a beast.

I played a tourney this weekend. A whole round was in the rain.
Only guy on card not constantly wiping my discs off.

I can't see how theyd possible fall out. If I held it upside down maybe and relea
sed the velcro and shook it.

I think if you add Velcro to it so that it has no way of slipping out then you would be safe other wise your taking a chance.
