What is the main cause of your putts to going wild? Most of us can screw up a putt in many ways but what putting sin do you commit most often?

Lack of concentration for sure,

Second though, crosswinds, they kill me. I can headwind and tailwind putt, but crosswinds get me all the time.

The three cues that almost always fix my putting when I'm off

1. Keep arm straight (locked out even if necessary)
2. Aim to strike a point a foot or two through my target (kinda like a punch or hitting a nail (focusing on a single link, like some advocate, leads to basket chunks most every time for me))
3. Accelerate to and through and release

FOCUS. great name for a disc. evey time I saw that itd remind me to quit looking at the sky. Someone should make that...:D

concentration may be one cause but I don't buy into the lack of practice. I have less than 10hours of putting practice accumulated over 18yrs. I said 10 hours because no one would believe 5 hours. I know people who practice every day and aren't good putters.

The biggest cause of missed putts is lack of consistancy. I see people who have too much motion in their putting routines. They are unable to duplicate their putt everytime. Uneven terrain also makes duplicating your putt difficult. If you would limit your body motion and get a good stable stance you will make more putts.

i totally agree with the no practicing. unless you're practicing EXACTLY like you'd putt in a round. not by having a stack of 10 discs next to you, and making minor muscle adjustments until you're sinking your 25' practice putts.

whatever you do, don't practice. It makes you worse

if you're a mental master of your certain putting style, you will be good at it.

it's all about understanding the effects of environment, and what you're trying to achieve. if you know this you will not need to practice

Here in Eastern TN there isnt many flat putts. Most are either up hill or down and all the other angles that go with that. I find that my nose angle and focus are the best two things for my game.

Thats why I practice with 2 putters, if that.

Wasn't an option in your poll AP, but WIND would be my answer. I have days where the wind wears me out and I have to be inside of 15' to finally finish the hole.

Good point but I left hot/cold/wind/menstrual cycle out of the mix on purpose...gotta factor those things in and still execute the technique. :\

It's confidence for me. It's completely mental. I can call my putts based on how I feel when I throw the disc. I've been able to pull myself up, when I'm 'feeling down' a few times, but it's rare, and the second that little bit of doubt creeps into the back of my mind, I'm throwing bricks ...

I tend to pull putts to the right, RHBH. I guess that wud come under the category of bad timing or maybe follow through...

because you were right and said the same thing i've always said. Practice is such a waste of time. Warming up and stretching also.

Yeah. You're so right. Nikko puts like a crazy magician just by luck of the draw. Never heard of that dood practice putting. OH wait....
