Hi Chiefstang. I play Westminster daily at lunch because it is like 2 minutes from work. It's the only course I am using the ribbon discs on because it is soooo wide open. Those holes are really wide and long with sligh elevation gains (really easy to lose a disc). I love Red Rocks. That's my...
good tips! Using a stable disc helps and nose it up a bit. I just need to tame down the patriot missile line drive...it's tough keeping them under 400 feet. lol
Go figure...I just got back from my lunch break round and I decided not to use the ribbon disc and lost a good Valkyrie in 4 inches of snow/over 330 ft+ drive/ big open area. Looked for about a 1/2 hour and gave up. Luckily I found it completely buried on the way back to the car when I finished...
I pick an older disc that is a good all-around flyer and I drill a really small hole in the center. I run the ribbon thru and make a knot. This becomes my main snow disc. I then sprayed the disc and the tail with water proofing. I only use this disc on the holes with deep snow...otherwise if it...
After losing a few nice discs in the snow, I came up with a good fix. I'm sure I'm not the 1st to do it. I added a really light waterproof tail to the disc...It works like a champ and does not seem to affect flight:thmbup:

I keep a DX Valk in my bag, and for the low cost it does a great job. It is my "stunt" disc. I send it into dangerous situations (over water, thru the brush, deep woods). I have Pro and Champions as well but this is the one Valk that always seems to go out with me. It is broken in really nice...
The bottom is plywood- painted and sealed. To attach the chains to the rim use bolt cutters to clip a notch out of the chain so it fits over the spoke. A little twist of mechanics/ bailing wire will secure it to the rim. I then put a spot of JB weld on the wire to assure there is no slideage...
I "inherited" the lower basket part of the target from a friend. It was off of one of his old targets. I repainted it and fixed it up. I then added an old mountain bike rim (free) and tire chains ($5) from a thrift store. I clipped the tire chains with bolt cutters and secured them with a little...
It's actually pretty decent for what it is, and the chains grab the discs pretty well. It's just something simple and cheap to shoot at to work on accuracy. Prior to this I was using a tree. lol. I'm in the process or making an all steel replica target all built to PDGA specs.
My Lil' Tiki Target
This is a simple target that I made for under $10 using an old tiki torch, tire chains, a basket, an old disk (for the top), some twine, wire, and a little duct tape. I obtained a few scrap pieces of exhaust pipe from a local welding shop to hammer in the ground as placement...
