wanted to like it 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 24, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

I played the course very early in it's existence and didn't enjoy it much at all, but was convinced by a friend to give it another try as some work had been done over the past couple of years.
The front nine was more enjoyable to me. There were a couple of interesting holes early on in the round, but nothing really to write home about.

Cons:

The back nine really did nothing for me. The best was done with the terrain at hand, but the shots were either fairly pedestrian, or else they were "toss and hopers" with no clear line. A lot of slick-surfaced hill climbs that were a bit of trouble to get good footing on ( it had rained the previous evening, so I can't imagine playing if it had rained more recently than that).

Other Thoughts:

It would appear than the park is also frequented by an "undesirable" element at times. I could see what they left behind at and near some of the more tree-covered tees on the front nine. I noticed this in both of my visits( a couple of years apart ) so looks like the issue still exists.
Maybe it's just me, but really got no joy from either of my rounds here. The pro's equalled the con's for me. Okay at best

Course is Now Officially Open 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 14, 2016 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

- Now that the course map is poster in the parking lot, the "next tee signs" are in, and the tee box signs are up, the course is good to go. It officially opened on October 1, so any reviews prior to that should be read carefully. This is a course with all kinds of potential
- Earlier the course was a bit nasty for beginners, with the risk of lost discs on a number of holes. But now that the yellow beginner tees are in, that has been completely addressed. Brilliant placements.
- The course is challenging because of all the trees, some of which appear to move after you throw. Strange.
- However, the course makes you work almost all of your shots, save perhaps the distance driver. Some great basket and tee box placement makes this course a good challenge for most players. The course will teach you what you need to work on. This is a fun course to play and to play again and again.

Cons:

- The course is still under development. The park was a mess, and the designers and community have done a ton of work to clean the course up. Amazing. But there is still work to be done. Some of the undergrowth is unsightly. Some of the brush still needs to be cleaned up. Garbage and glass appear with regularity (and then generally get cleaned up quickly).
- The course is in a rougher area of town, which can lead to some interesting interactions with the locals...many of whom are quite intrigued with the new game in town.
- Because of all the ground- and shrub-work, there are areas that can get quite muddy and slippery when it rains. Some of the paths will be a bit challenging as a result. Quality footwear is a must.

Other Thoughts:

It has been incredible to see the growth and development of the course...and interest in the game. The designers and support community are to be thanked for their steady committed work.

Course update 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Sep 23, 2018 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

17 out of 18 pads are in. The other 1 is great shape and will be updated in the soon.
Our parking lot course map, next tee signs and beautiful tee signs are all in! Have a look as each tee sign has a bit of history abut the park.
Only 4 alternate pins are installed but be assured new ones will be popping up with the spring flowers.

Cons:

Course plays great dry but add some rain or melt and some of those hills and paths get pretty slick. Good footwear a must!

Other Thoughts:

Looking forward to giving this course a good polish over the next year!

Nice course, lotsa work put in 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Apr 14, 2017 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Holes 1-9 are really fun. Decent signage, good tees and baskets. Some fun and challenging holes. Holes 10-18 are now signed and with tee pads.

Cons:

Set in park so there may be some waits for pedestrians. I didn't love the back 9, lots of climbing and lucky shots through trees.

Other Thoughts:

I mostly like this course, many thanks for all the work the local club has put into it.

An Unexpected Treat 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 20, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

18 baskets in good repair.
The concrete tees mostly feel like a large concrete brick that is a touch small for a tee pad, but it works.
Great variety of holes. Open, tight, long, short, huge downhill shots and a few uphill, lefts, rights... yadda yadda yadda...
Easy enough to navigate.
Water holes are fun and are not too hard, but will definitely eat plastic if you screw up.
Really fun course design that kind of eases you into things and gets you warmed up for a much more challenging back nine, but without being boring or repetitive.

Cons:

The back nine still has some holes that are in rough (new) shape, but that will come I am sure.
The signage could be better, but with a map it really isn't hard to figure out. It basically makes a large oval loop following an established walking path, without interfering with the walking path too much.
Would be awesome if there were multiple tees/pins on each hole, but I'm sure that isn't the number one priority here.
Hole 9 over the water feels a bit gimmicky. I feel like it is too short and too hyzery through a fog of trees on the other side. The water really shouldn't come into play here ever. Would be super neat if a long tee pad were placed closer to the walkway on this hole.
Hole 18 feels kind of like a disappointment. After such a great series of holes, to end on that note just doesn't do enough for me.

Other Thoughts:

I have full confidence that this course will mature as the community around it keeps building it up into a 4.0 course. Lots of potential and lots of great stuff already going for it. Great job, eh

Coming Along Very Nicely 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 23, 2015 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

It's been an absolute joy watching this course come together. I have been playing it since the very first basket went in ( even when it was the only one)

There is a good mix of righty/lefty shots, short holes and long holes, and definately some elevation changes. (Hole 6 !! )

There is also some water that comes into play, mostly on 9 where you have to throw across the old canal, but is also ready to claim your disc on several other holes if you hyzer out too much.

The park is scenic and historic, and the totem pole in the middle of the park is definately something you don't see very often (well not myself anyway)

Overall, an enjoyable course to play and am excited to be able to play the back 9 when completed.

Cons:

Still a work in progress, but very much playable and enjoyable.
