Amateur World Doubles at Selah Ranch, Texas

Got an email from Dee Houck that they are full. No room for Seniors:(, again.

Based on a cryptic email, I got the impression they are saving 8 team spots for the women until some undisclosed date. I think we have 4 women's teams right now, and not much chance of getting 4 more, so don't count yourself out if you got on the wait list today.

any women wanna play and need a partner my mom really wants to play we have a cabin that sleeps 14 if that helps
(i just realized i pretty much said this yesterday but its important damnit)

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: There seems to be a lot of misinformation out there. We are finalizing the list of players and we will let everyone know Monday who is in and who is on the waiting list. Your patience is greatly appreciated while we continue processing registrations. If you are still interested, please continue sending in your forms.

Thank you,

Jason Hendrickson
Assistant Tournament Director

Jason, could you please also verify tee boxes for divisions, and at the same time which courses will be used for which format during the tourney..(ie creekside alt and best disc or whatever). Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

TK

I am extremely excited to be playing in this tournament. This should be a very memorable event. I can't wait!

World Dubs Still Has Room!

I misinterpreted a communication and posted bad info recently:eek: They are filling BUT NOT FULL yet. In fact there may be a Legend and/or a Senior Legend Division this year. So get your applications and payments in. There is always a chance even if they have to start a wait list.

uh oh well i signed my mom up in the womens division today and in the intermediate division friday hopefully they dont charge her card twice

List?

TK,

John is still working on course format, and tee assignments. We will have a final answer in mid February.

Jen B,

The list is available on the Facebook page for the event:

We apologize for the delay. We have been working out of town and around the clock. However, we can tell you that this year the tournament sold out in about 2 1/2 weeks now that we have counted the number of applications received. We also sold out about 2 months before the event! This is a record-breaking year in many ways! 4 discs in the players packs?! WOW! Thank you Millennium, Innova, Discraft & Gateway!

Copied directly from my email:

"We hope you can be there all day Friday to enjoy the activities we have planned for you. There will be a business showcase of vendors from the local community selling their goods, variety of food, and all types of merchandise.

You will be welcomed at the gate on Friday by our volunteers where you will receive information about the event. If you arrive earlier than Friday, we ask you to go to the gate once it is staffed (around 9) on Friday to pick up some of the information you will need before you show up to sign in at the clubhouse on Friday to receive your players packs, etc. Go to the gate and then come into the clubhouse to register if you are arriving on Thursday or earlier!

We are expecting a huge crowd this year and there is a lot of media coverage for this event. BLING JOHNSON will be filming his show at the Friday night party by the clubhouse. The Live Band will be preforming under the Gazebo and food will be served outside the clubhouse where we will have a putting practice basket set up for playing ring of fire later that evening. Lots of prizes & drawings.

We are also inviting VIP's from the community and sponsors to this party. We appreciate your support in representing the sport in a positive way. This event could have a significant impact on the sport as it may bring in major sponsors as they see it on TV, magazines, newspapers, and hear about it on radio around the country, state and region. Our PR committee has amazing people from radio, newspapers and the business community on it. Freelance writers are submitting articles in national magazines and press releases are going out to TV stations in the region.

Children from the local schools are taking home a flyer with them describing this event so that they can bring their parents and enjoy it on Saturday and Sunday. Each spectator will receive a ticket for drawings for free. Additional tickets can be purchased and will benefit CASA, a non-profit that helps kids.

We are planning on 1,000 spectators and we want to make sure that you know that this will be run like a MAJOR. DGP-TV will be shooting LIVE for 3 days. Spectators will mostly be non-disc golfers so let's show them how awesome disc golf is!

Dynamic Discs is our "Hole-in-One" sponsor. Each player will get a ticket at registration that will present at the area where there is a specially designed hole and a camera person ready to record your throw. You can only do this during the lunch time between 11 and 2:30 so make sure you save some time to go and compete in the hole in one specially for the registered players.

Players who are ordering lunch and breakfast tacos should go to the clubhouse for their meals and must present their tickets at lunchtime or breakfast. Tickets will be numbered so please do not lose them. Volunteers will need to collect them & they won't be able to serve you without it. LOST TICKETS = LOST TIME, PLEASE DO NOT LOSE THEM!

This year we have 200-300 volunteers. This event is HUGE! We want to show off disc golf, and we want the sport represented at its finest. This community is pouring their heart and love into this sport and they don't even PLAY IT!!! So, please make sure you thank the volunteers and visit with them. Spread the LOVE OF THE SPORT! A lot of them will be prominent members from the business community who are just wanting to help out because they appreciate the courses that John has designed. Some just love to volunteer...but most of them have not played. This is all new to them.

It appears over 1,000 people have played Selah from 35 states in 2012. This community is very appreciative and they want to give back to the disc golfers for their support. This year, we are so blessed to have this opportunity and present to you an event like we've only dreamed of.

There will be viewing areas. There will be certain holes players will be driven to to save time. There will be large PDGA tents and Pro World Champions giving clinics Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There will be other fun games for all to enjoy like ring toss, darts and other easy carnival type games.

There will be cotton candy, popcorn, hamburgers and other food sold all weekend long by multiple vendors. There will be disc golf vendors selling all 3 days. Plan on coming early to enjoy everything. Please wear your best disc golf attire. Remember you never know when you will show up on TV and which TV station! There will be news people all around even though this not a Pro event, it's still getting more press than any event we know about. This is due to the community's efforts. We could not do this without them and we need to thank everyone there. Just wait until you see how nicely this event will be ran.

This resort is a very beautiful clean well-maintained resort and a Christian resort, we ask you to be respectful of the property and to each other. We all want disc golf to rise and continue to grow. This event will start a new era. You are going to be a part of something historic and very special.

There is plenty of camping and parking, and all we ask is that you don't litter, that you follow volunteers requests, follow good common sense to represent this sport to the world in a way that uplifts it, enjoy all the activities and extras we are offering, and we know you will have a great time!

Awards will be presented after the competition, and we are planning on having finger food there like sandwiches, cookies, etc. We hope you can stick around and enjoy that as well.

Friday greens fee is included, and if you want to arrive earlier, it's only $10 for greens fees and $10 a night for camping. Just let us know.

There is a pro shop that will be stocked with drinks like water, Gatorade, Red Bull, event discs and special Selah discs. The pro-shop will be run by Discs Unlimited.

Campers will get a special stamp and a tag for their tent. We want to ensure that everyone is paying for their camping and volunteers will be assigned to check for this. So, please make sure you get your tag and your stamp for camping or otherwise you will be charged the $20 a night rate and not the $10 discounted rate person. So, if you are bringing your wives, girlfriends or family, please make sure you include their camping on this form or call us with the updated information so that we can charge your card and get it covered.

Make sure you pick up your over 21 wristband for the Friday night party!

Look forward to speaking with you at the event, and come up and say Hi Friday night at the party! Remember, that's the night Bling Johnson is recording the band that's performing, so show up and enjoy the great Music of "Lucas Cook & the Collection". You can also check out: http://www.blingjohnson.com/.

This is going to be AWESOME and so MUCH FUN! We are so thankful to all the players that support us and help us grow the sport in a positive direction. YOU ARE ALL AWESOME and we want to wish you best of luck in this years competition!

I'm attaching two sponsorship packages, one for the disc golf world and another one for non-disc golf businesses. Please feel free to forward them to anyone you know who might want to become a sponsor. We need more sponsors to make this event even better. If you know anyone that wants to donate prizes for the drawing or putting games, please let them know they will be announced at the time of the drawing and we appreciate all of the support from everyone coming to this event.

Lastly, invite your family, friends, neighbors, community to come and watch you play and be a part of this big event. They might even win some prizes in a drawing or a putting game just for spectating! We are giving out over 400 prizes just to people who come and watch! They will definitely enjoy all the activities and the beauty of this amazing ranch that was once owned by NFL Cowboy, "Dandy" Don Meredith, and now is owned by Candy & Dave Hickerson. The dogs in the logo belong to them and are the mascots of this ranch and event. You will love meeting Pete & Cookie.

We want to THANK all our sponsors! Please check out the latest sponsors on this page...we will keep updating as we get more every day! Please support these businesses and if you meet them at the event, thank them for supporting disc golf with their time, energy and resources...we mean the ones that are not our companies! :)"

Wow. This looks to be like an awesome event!

Played both courses today, they look great! Water is sort of down, not too much, course workers are doing a great job keeping it cleaned up after the big wind storm we just had. Also they just got in 2 big truck loads of gravel for the new RV sites with electric they just added. Couple new walking bridges. Everything looks great!! Keep up the great work guys!!! Very friendly staff to all of those who have not been!
