I just got an Android phone and downloaded Easy Scorecard. It has a really cool feature of bringing up google maps with a drag and drop pushpin that then automatically measures the footage (for DG and yardage for BG) from your location. I think it would work perfectly for open holes as you can see exactly where the basket is and if the GPS has you in the correct spot.

I know this will not help you gke, but it seems really cool and maybe useful to interested parties reading this thread.

yea I hope to actually upgrade to a real phone this summer, I am just really cheap when it comes to phones.

free aps for phones are the cheapest route, but they are innacurate

if you are only concerned for your commonly played courses, just physically measure distances to land marks on the desired holes. you should be able to guess withing a few feet of any throw after that.
