I am by no means a bigg bomber on my drives..... I am however pretty gosh darn accurate which allows me to par most and birdie some..... I have played with people who can spank me on the drive but not beat me on the hole..... although I do wish I had more distance I would not be willing to give up accuracy and control..... what about you?????

Unless you're playing wide open courses all the time, distance alone will not get you very far.

Both would be ideal of course, but distance in the shule or OB is useless. You can manage pars almost always with accuracy.

I know a guy that can bomb it 400ft plus, but he can't approach for putt to save his life.

I definitely rely on my accuracy to keep me in the game. I max out at about 275 feet, and I would say I average more around 225 to 260 feet. Most of the people I play with can out drive me by at least 30 to 50 feet on most drives, maybe more on good drives, but I still stay in competition because I have a lot more accuracy than they do.

So far it's 17-0 unanimous. Guess that answers that question. Here's another way to look at it: on a par 3 hole, distance only matters on your first throw. After that it's all about accuracy. :)

It is worth noting that it's a lot easier to be accurate at 300' if you're maxing out at 400' rather than maxing out at 300'. You have a lot more disc and line options when you're not trying to throw as far as you possibly can.

I voted "distance" since the distance you land from your intended target is the most important. :D

Seriously though, it is not an either/or - disc golf skill is measured in a combination of distance and accuracy.....and good courses test both and reward those with both.

Distance is great, but that alone won't help you on holes like this:

My friends would always make fun of me because I have always been able to drive much farther than anyone we played with, but would end up throwing (...) my stroke leads away because I couldn't putt for anything.

So we would do doubles tournaments where I would pair up with a guy with an "accurate" short game hoping to create an unbeatable team... I found out after a couple times doing this that it is much harder to putt under pressure than to throw over 300 feet under the same pressure. And I would end up hitting more difficult putts than my supposed "short game specialist" partner.

I voted accuracy because the key to my drives is more distance-accuracy, rather than just pure distance that can get you in the middle of a lake. Though I would question anyone that says distance drives aren't as difficult to achieve as an accurate short game, since it seems to me that being able to throw a 350' drive isn't all that common and even the 300' milestone seems more elusive than it should be (imho).
