Dye Help for a newb

I'm looking to get into the wonderful world of dyeing. I've seen things that people do with shaving cream marbling. Is the process really just put shaving cream on a plate, throw the dye down in any pattern you want and let it sit for hours? Am i missing something? Any help is appreciated :thmbup:

Basically yes, to the question in the OP. Getting a good result requires a little more nuanced answer though. But that should be answered in the thread linked to by Mr. Howard.
