855' Disc Side of Heaven Championship Course #16. Probably the signature hole for course. Wanted to stake claim to it here, but do not have a picture of it just yet. Will try and remedy that this weekend and I will add it here. I will, however, walk you through it.
From the Gold Tee, during the winter, you can actually see the basket 855' away from you. Par 5, no worries, right? You are standing on top of a ridge, the fairway drops hard to the right, and to the left, but not so much. The 500' marker is straight in front of you, also on top of the ridge, but quickly after that the fairway disappears.
You throw a perfect drive 375-400 feet dead center. You land about 40' past the 500' marker so you are sitting just 460' away from the basket. You can see the basket, but now you can also see that the basket is just 40' or so past the waterline. So now you need a 420' shot just to clear the water, trees line the pond the entire right side so you either have to throw a HUGE hyzer, a dead straight shot, or a big flick. Do you go for the shot so you are putting for Eagle, or do you lay up. Did I mention you cannot see the near waterline due to the hill. So you are throwing a blind lay up. If you do lay up, you still have a 220' water carry to get to the basket that is still protected on the right by the trees.
So, what do you do?
