I'm taking a person out who's never thrown a disc and want advice

Disc down yourself and consider a putter only round as to not discourage the newer player.

I actually disagree with this attitude.

A player trying out a new sport for the first time should not be discouraged because an experienced player can outplay him. He's not out there to try to compete with you, he's just throwing to learn the course.

In some ways, it can be better to really show off your big drives to show the newbie what he'll be able to strive for with practice. Especially if the person you're playing with is of similar athletic ability, it makes those big drives feel more attainable to the new guy.

^Probably depends on the player in question. I feel like most noobs, I'll still be able to embarrass the crap out of impress them enough with just a Proxy.
