Let's throw my backhand form in the blender and see what comes out.

Hey all,

I've been playing disc golf for around a year now and am fully hooked. I can drive 325-350 consistently with decent accuracy, and 400-425ish if I'm ripping full power with not great accuracy.

In the next few months I'm planning to really focus on mechanics and try to rebuild my form from the ground up (as necessary). I'm fully prepared to be terrible at this game again for a bit while I'm working on things.

Here are some form videos, as well as some synched videos comparing my form to Gannon and Simon. I've got a pretty similar tall/lanky build as Gannon which is why I wanted to make comparisons with his mechanics. And I threw in a comparison with Simon because why not.

I've already made some observations about these videos about things I can work on, but I'm also curious to see what some of you out there think.

Thanks in advance for any help!

1. You are bending your rear knee too much, instead of hinging at the hip. Try to keep your rear shin more vertical while tilting your chest forward over the rear knee/hip.

2. You are hugging yourself/rounding. You can see how much more open your chest is in the power pocket.

Thank you for the feedback! I think for now I'm going to focus on the rounding issue, mostly throwing from standstill. One I start incorporating the x-step again I'll return to the rear knee vs hip issue.
