List your top 5 favorite courses

The best so far...

I live in Buffalo but have had the chance to visit some great courses elsewhere...

1. Deer Lakes (Pittsburgh)
Love this course...not sure why only one round of worlds in 2015 was played here...elevation, woods, water, basket placements, memorable holes...3 and 9 are just plain awesome...

2. Moraine (Pittsburgh)
Just under Deer Lakes...also has elevation, woods, and memorable holes...especially 15 and 16...

3. Brewster Ridge (Vermont)
Great amenities and layout...as well as a gorgeous location...

4. Black Diamond (Buffalo)
My favorite home course...long and tough...the front nine is a great challenge...holes 3,4,5,14 are great wooded holes...

5. Parma (Rochester)
Perfect park golf...love holes 4 and 5...

6. Lakeside Beach (Buffalo/Rochester)
Two great courses right on Lake Ontario...plus beautiful campground...

In my limited travels to areas of the Southeastern United States......

5. Langley Pond - Burnettown SC - brutally long course, but mega fun to throw.

4. Hippodrome - Hogback - North Augusta SC - clever use of geographic features, and some
gimmicky holes also.

3. IDGC - Steady Ed - Appling GA - I see a lot of love for WR Jackson, but my noodle arm
prefers Steady Ed. I finished +17 on WR Jackson - ouch!

2. The Admiral - Semmes AL - very new course, opened Nov 2016, John Houck's 100th course design. He did good!!

1. Warrior Ridge - Tishomingo MS - visually stunning, great use of the terrain, Hole 4 is
unforgettable, once you realize where they hid the basket.

My next two DG trips are going to be to Charlotte NC and Everett WA. Probably going to take quite some time to fit in all the courses these two areas have to offer.

1 Idlewild - Burlington, Ky

2 Seviren Lang - Georgetown, In

3 Castle Hayne Park - Wilmington, NC

4 Big Creek State Park - Polk City, Ia

5 Osage Grove - Goshen, Oh

I find it curious you rated gave Shore Winds Blue a 4.5, yet you like Black Diamond more. I thought Shore Winds Blue was my favorite course in that area. I thought Black Diamond was excellent in many, but simply had too many flaws to bump it up that high.

That said, some of those flaws them had to do with nav and layout (obviously more of a factor for visiters like me), and are easily overlooked by those familiar with the course (guilty of that myself). To each his own! :hfive:

Black Diamond and Lakeside Blue are both top notch courses with memorable holes, lots of distance, and plenty of challenge...

I put Black Diamond ahead of Lakeside Blue (I've played both many times) for a few reasons...

1. In moderate to high wind, Lakeside Blue can be either brutal or unplayable...
2. Black Diamond has better wooded holes (which I prefer)...
3. Lakeside Blue is basically flat while Black Diamond has some awesome elevation change on the front nine...

Fair enough. It was a beautiful day when I played Shore Winds, but I suppose they named it that for a reason. I can see how a nasty wind coming off Lake Ontario would make that course miserable to play.

Top 5, not ranked:

Rollin' Ridge

Nevinssss (Charlotte, NC)
Renny Gold (Charlotte, NC)
Cedar Hills (Nashville, TN)
Langley Pond (Augusta, GA)

Cedar Hill is in Nashville. Cedar Hills is in Raleigh. Not trolling, just there is no comparison between the really fun Cedar Hill in Nashville and the meh Cedar Hills in Raleigh. Now I might be jaded since I only played Cedar Hill twice and I've played Cedar Hills over 2000 times. Oh and I think Langley Pond is actually in SC.
