I wondered the same in that specific 450 ft. shot too, and maybe it's a bit of both in that case.
His max distance "flat" shot looks a little less yanky, but you can see his butt is oriented quite far toward the Line of Play there too as he goes into the "buttwipe" to smash it.
We do sometimes mention that Gibson gets his body a little more twisted up than other pros/torques through his lumbar region (owie!), and I'm still not sure if/how that relates significantly or not to the orientation of his stance to release angles and other details.
