Predictions for Worlds

so whats the deal with the scorecards???(i have yet to play a sanctioned tourney)

does everyone on your card carry the same 1 scorecard? or does each person take care of their own scorecard keeping everyones scores?
There is only one record taken of the round if that's what you mean. Sometimes everyone on your card for that round has their names on a single card, sometimes everyone has their own card, which is used for all the rounds. I've seen it done both ways. As far as scorekeeping duties go, it is customarily split between the members of the card over the course of the round. Everybody does it for 4-5 holes or whatever.

and then theres something about initialing or signing it? please explain
You are required to add, and add correctly, your total for the round. Failure to do that adds two strokes to your correct score. Far as I know, there is no requirement to sign or initial it.

the requirement for all players to initial their score was (mistakenly imo) removed several years back.

In the tourneys I've played in, the TDs requested that people initialed their scores, seemed like a good idea to me. Makes it less likely that the card gets turned in without someone having the opportunity to check and recheck their total.

We have two people who only picked four, because of the nature of the contest I add to add a score of 100 to fill in their fifth pick. Four people picked a list of five that was exactly alike. One listed no tiebreaker, and another only listed one so its impossible for them to win. Good thing this is just for fun.

We might have to come up with something a little bit better for next year. Maybe one of those grid pool things.
:)

how do you guys stay up on how people are playing during the season?

everyone looks at the rankings puts the top 5 guys in a hat and picks them - but you have to pick doss / climo / feldberg as predicted winner

if 1 in 5 people wins year after year its not very interesting convo - just as bad as predicting Tiger to win every Major

I'm thinking we ask Timg to add a fantasy DG section for next year to follow the entire NT (majors included). Maybe he can even get some of those great sponsors to donate prizes for the top finishers. I have seen a decent system for ball golf at Yahoo and the adjustment to DG would look something like this.

In each tournament you get to pick four players
You get to pick one player rated 1000+
You get to pick two players rated 970-999
You get to pick one player rated below 970

Then to earn points you could do one of two things.
1. Use PDGA round ratings and you earn each of your four players round rating in points. This would give us some huge scores.
2. The best round in any particular round earns 100 points for that round and every stroke below that earns a certain (I like 2 or 5) number fewer points for that round.

YEAH!!! I would like to thank all my sponsers, such as pedialite and quest at for making the best discs on the market. Lol That was fun though, we should do that for more tournaments.
