IMHO - Anything that breaks up the solid color pattern of a disc makes it harder to find...that's camouflage 101. Look at nature. Wherever the background is somewhat irregular (jungles, woods, forrests, reefs), animals with patterns in their fur or skin are harder to spot among in the weeds or on the ground than those with a single, solid color. The exceptions being places where the background is a single color, like the arctic or a desert.
That being said, some dye jobs aren't nearly as tough to find as others. Simpler patterns are easier to find than more complex patterns.
