Some of my friends have been thinking about organizing a team league between the 3 main courses in our area. Does anyone else do anything like this? Give me some good ideas.

I did this for a short while, about 15 years ago, between different cities. (Courses were few and far between, back then, around here).

At the time we did it on Saturdays, on a home-and-away basis. It was hard scheduling around tournaments; it would be impossible now. But if you've got courses in the same community, you could do weekdays instead.

We did 8-man teams, Ryder-cup style. We'd play captains-choice match-play doubles for 1 round, then match play singles the 2nd.

Great fun, while it lasted.

New England has a HUGE team league that runs from Oct-April.
Been around for 8-10 years, as far as I know
Three team pools.
We(DisCap) just got a team together for the C Pool, where all new teams start.
C-Pool has 16 teams, divided regionally into 8 east and 8 west teams. We play one match a month.
Three home matches and three away matches.
Each match is one round match-play singles and one round stroke-play doubles.
Top 2 in each region goes to finals and the top 2 teams from finals move up to B Pool.

Rosters:

•Roster size is (20) players, including a female.◦Women's spot is unlimited. You can have as many women on your team as you want and it doesn't count against the other 19 roster spots.

•Player can only be on (1) team, regardless of which pool they're in.
•Players must play in (3) challenges to compete in finals.
•Maximum of (2) roster moves per season.
•Minimum of (12) players present at a challenge.◦Check under "Penalties" on how to handle less than 12 players

Format:

•First round is singles match play.
•Second round is doubles stroke play.

Scoring:

•Singles victory is worth 1 point.
•Doubles victory is worth 2 points.
•Team with highest points after (2) rounds is the winner.
•At least the same number of points has to be available in the 2nd round as there was in the 1st round.

Penalties:

•If you don't bring the minimum number of players to a challenge, you will be penalized the difference between the minimum and what you brought each round. ◦EX: Minimum is 12, you bring 8. You're giving your opponents 4 points each round.
◦If an odd number, you can play 2 vs 1.

•If you don't bring and/or play a woman and the other team PLAYS their woman they will get a bonus point.
◦Winner of that guy/girl match still gets a point.

•If you have fewer players available than played in the first round, you will be giving the other team the difference in what was played 1st round and what's available 2nd round.

Tie Breakers:

•Singles matches tied after the round will each be awarded 1/2 point (halved).
•Doubles matches tied after the round will be played out until the tie is broken.
•Matches tied after the two rounds will play Sudden Death, Best Disc Doubles to determine the winner.
◦Captains can agree to another tiebreaker if they wish, if they can't agree these are the defaults.

•Season ending ties will be broken by:
1. Head to Head◾H2H can't break a multiway tie if teams haven't played each other OR they haven't beat the other team(s).
◾IE: Team A beat Team B, Team B beat Team C. This does NOT mean that Team A > Team C. This is when Pts % comes into play!
◾If Team A beat Team C and Team B beat Team C, then C loses H2H with the other two teams and they are out.

◾If there is a multiway tie for multiple spots, H2H is always the first way used to break the tie.
◾IE: Teams A, B and C are all tied for the last two spots. We must break the tie for the first spot with Pts %. Now there are two teams tied for the last spot and we need to break the tie. H2H is the first method, if they didn't play each other it's Pts % again.
◾H2H is ALWAYS the first tie breaker!!!

2. Points Percentage◾Points Scored/Points Available.

3. Playoff between tied teams.

This sounds like a lot of fun. I've been wishing for years that they would do something like this in metro Atlanta. :(
