The lost art of course reviewing

Well, I figured out how to look up Lat/Long and was about to put those in for the courses I added. Someone already did it though. So thank you to whoever did that.:clap::clap:

I didn't really Tim's been pulling all the weight for all these years.

i tried just doing from closest major city to destination but timg would go above and beyond and put moar descriptive stuff in there

That's what I always do too. It's easier around here (middle of nowhere WI), but it's a lot harder to do in, say, Denver. Where exactly do you decide where most people will be coming from?

The directions ARE very helpful. Or were at least, before I had a smart phone. I spent an unbelievable amount of hours on here when I first discovered DGCR writing down directions for EVERY single WI course in a little notebook that was kept in the glove box. I also have a road atlas somewhere that has a little sharpie dot where every course in the state is.

Then I got a smart phone

This all day. I have occasionally been absolutely screwed by GPS.

***For me, directions to the first tee, from the entrance of the park, is one of the most valuable pieces of information in a review***

I used to do this but stopped because I consider that course info page stuff because not every review should reiterate that kind of info endlessly. Same as if it's 9 or 18, etc.

If I think of it while writing a review, I put it under the local directions section under Location Details. Two examples:

https://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=6961

Totally agree. Most lot of the basics should be (and usually are) spelled out on the main course page.

Reviews should tell me what it's like to play the course, and give me an idea as to whether it's worth my vacation time, or not.

Maybe a PM asking him to write unique reviews for each course he is reviewing. I don't think calling people out publicly for something like this is necessary if you haven't said something privately.

Zander22 just launched his reviewing career with a paragraph+ of all 3 Codorus S.P. courses.

The reviews are identical, word for word. :|

Truly a lost art. Thoughts?

There are slight (very slight) changes to the three reviews. They caught my eye because I just played and reviewed all three recently (mine are the second reviews on each now). And I really, really tried to find the helpful parts of each of the newer reviews - but it caught my eye that each review has the same title and the same score (5!).

By the way, I see that you and I have a handful of courses played in common - but it seems like only one that we both reviewed. I liked your review of Creekside in Salt Lake City.
