Pros:

Boyceville School DGC is a nine hole course that plays on the north side of the school and south of the football field in the open area with the creek running through it. The course is completely flat and basically wide open. The creek does come into play on a couple holes and there are a couple trees in play on holes 4, 8 and 9.

The baskets are purple banded Discatchers. These are all mounted level and catch great. One basket and placement per hole.

The course is totally open for the most part but they did a good job with the design to at least put some baskets in an area with some trees within the circle or near enough to the creek that you need to weigh your options. Honestly it's about as good of a design as is possible here.

There's the "Bulldog" bridge which gets you over the creek from hole 7's basket to hole 8's tee. The course should always be in good shape since it's on school grounds.

Cons:

The tee pads are wood pavers imbedded in the ground. I didn't see any for the first three holes but maybe I just didn't notice them. They are hard to see. That's the only amenities here in the tee pad or tee sign department. The course is basically impossible to figure out as intended without a map or playing with a local.

Long walk from hole 3 to 4. You need to walk up to the sidewalk and then cross the bridge and back down to get to hole 4's tee. Not a huge deal or even that long of a walk but again, without a map, impossible to figure out what's going on.

It's been extremely rainy around here this year but there was a very real chance that you'd never get your disc back if you ended up in the creek. I highly doubt it's normally this fast flowing but it might be.

Not playable during school hours or if there's any kind of activities going on on the baseball or football fields. I suppose you could play it if a game was happening but you'd have to park a ways away and probably have to start on hole 4 and play it in that order.

Other Thoughts:

Pretty stereotypical WI school course but with some water in play. On the flip side you aren't challenged with any fences from tennis courts or baseball fields either so it's sort of a wash. Luckily this one maintains the WI tradition of having no way to decipher what the hell is happening without a course map (aka Udisc) available to you.

I mean, if you're in Boyceville for some reason it's worth a quick play just to say you played it. Not sure why anyone would ever be in Boyceville though. Or even passing through. Kind of the middle of nowhere out here. The course is pretty decent but nothing special. Bag it and bounce kind of deal.
