Redesigned Flying Eagle?

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 3, 2024 Played the course:once

Pros:

-- Best holes are 10, 16, 17. No. 10 is 230 feet (according to UDisc, but it seemed longer) to a basket near a bridge over a small creek/ditch. The ground past the basket slopes down to an OB fence. No. 16 is 410 feet with a few trees to avoid on a RHBH line near a road/parking lot. No 17 is about 200 feet slightly uphill to a hanging basket in a stand of trees. An OB fence is 10 feet right.
-- Restrooms at tennis courts near hole 2.

Cons:

-- Natural tee pads, not in great shape. Other than the post, most tee areas are not marked. A few have bricks in the ground.
-- Maintenance is not good. Holes away from multi-use areas (10 and 11) had knee-high or taller grass.
-- Multi-use area on a college campus, so you've got lots of obstacles.
-- Many tee signs are missing or damaged or lying on the ground. In some cases they are both damaged AND lying on the ground.
-- A lot of throws to blind baskets.
-- Safety issues. No. 3 has exercise equipment about 50 feet in front of the tee pad. No. 13 is 330 feet completely in a 30-foot wide strip of grass between parking lots. Pavement is 8 feet left and 5 feet past the basket. No. 15 has exercise equipment 30 feet slightly right and in front of the tee. No. 9 has no post, but UDisc and a worn spot indicate a tee pad 25 feet short of the No. 8 basket. No. 11 has no post, but bricks in the ground indicate a tee pad 8 feet past the No. 10 basket.
-- LONG walk 11-12. Follow the path all the way around the soccer field and take a right just before you get to the fence at the road.

Other Thoughts:

-- This is the first review of this course in 10 years, and it appears that a major redesign happened at some point during that decade. We have two maps on this site; make sure you look at the new one.
-- No. 1 tee is near the tennis courts.
-- DGA baskets have the number on top, but many of the posts have a different number.
-- I played late afternoon in the summer, so the campus was mostly empty. Trying to play during fall or spring semesters likely would be a nightmare.
