For your straight shots, the DX Teebird will work very well. I've also recently tried out 2 discs that would work even better that you might want to look into:

I consider myself to be a somewhat spontaneous person, and once in a while it's nice to just head off to the disc golf course at the drop of a hat and play a round, no matter where I am. Also, driving home to pick up discs is a gas waster. However, this requires that I keep discs in my car...
I personally switched to power grip (from some kind of weird fan grip) about a month ago and have consistently hit 30-40' farther than previously; however, i also adjusted several of the mechanics of my throw in order to get the nose down, which I'm guessing had more of an effect./
