I recall reading that in some other thread a maybe 2-3 years ago. To his credit, he's getting more out of disc golf than I am.He also runs the local shop here in Des Moines. Still plays in the MP40 class in some tournaments.
I didn't see him do any of his bug eyed staring into the camera schtick today.Watched the free 1st round coverage.
That caddy still likes to break the 4th wall.
Or maybe Simon, being older and wiser, told him "look, I am on the lead card and who people want to see. Not you. Remember that if you want to be my caddy next round". I am curious why he and Buhr parted ways... Well, not really.I didn't see him do any of his bug eyed staring into the camera schtick today.
I'm guessing he was told by the PDGA to knock it off.
Just after AB threw his tee shot on #1, he looks straight into the camera here.I didn't see him do any of his bug eyed staring into the camera schtick today.

i wonder if he is doing the stare thing on purpose. it kind of interupts the flow when i am watching the edited coverage to suddenly see "the look".Watched the free 1st round coverage.

Apparently, he's a fairly popular among touring pros. But I just don't care for the guy. FWIW, he's gotta be the only caddy I recognize, but that's probably not a good thing.
I thought the same thing about Christopher Robbins. He is playing like pooh though. This probably isn't an original observation, but "B. Sides" just looks like a super fake name.
One change to make 17 play better with smoother scoring separation would be to mark all of the OB as a Relief Area instead so there's only one stroke penalty for each throwing error. Players would still go to the DZs as marked when missing Iowa and landing in the RA. The way it plays now with OB, there's at least a 2-stroke penalty for each throwing error.Gannon's first efforts at course design (17 and 18) turned out well. Rules on 17 are probably a bit too punitive though- maybe let the shots that make it to Iowa but go outside the state boundaries (green is shaped like Iowa) play traditional OB rules instead of heading to the drop zone. Also perverse fun watching Hole 18 bite him on the ass. (I like Gannon and generally want him to do well but have found myself in that position from time to time.)
I thought a relief area plays like OB, but without any penalty stroke? One change to make 17 play better with smoother scoring separation would be to mark all of the OB as a Relief Area instead so there's only one stroke penalty for each throwing error. Yes, it's played like OB with the default mark as last point IB. However, just like OB, you can also specify Drop Zone(s) like they've done on hole 17.I thought a relief area plays like OB, but without any penalty stroke?
I haven't seen any of the coverage so I'm not sure how the 17th hole gets played.
I still don't understand the layout on hole 17 when you say it would be a "one stroke penalty" if it was a relief area vs "at least a 2 stroke penalty" for it being OB?Yes, it's played like OB with the default mark as last point IB. If the player misses "Iowa" on their second shot, they go to DZ1 190 ft away which in essence is a 1-throw penalty when played as a Relief Area, 2 strokes if it's OB as designed. Then, missing "Iowa" from the DZ sends the player to DZ2 at the west end of "Iowa" from where they are unlikely to go for or make a putt. So, again it's the equivalent of 1-throw penalty if RA or 2 strokes as OB as designed. There's no need for the OB tacked on penalties. Playing it as RA is already punitive enough.I still don't understand the layout on hole 17 when you say it would be a "one stroke penalty" if it was a relief area vs "at least a 2 stroke penalty" for it being OB?
