Disc Golf Pet Peeves -

Do you guys ever actually ask to play through? If someone comes up to me on the course and asks if they can play through, I'll let them. Its just common courtesy, you've gotta remember everyone else's time is more valuable than yours.

Likewise, anytime I've ever asked to play through a slow group, they've let me. Maybe its a southern thing?

Understood, but it's still a pet peeve of mine. I shouldn't have to ask to play through. You should always allow faster groups to play through regardless if they ask you or not.

I agree, and oftentimes find myself letting groups play through without waiting for them to ask.

But at the same time, not everyone looks behind them at the course to see if there are people waiting at the tee-pad.

We were following a fairly slow group for the last few holes the other day. It wasn't like we really needed to play through with a couple of holes left, so we waited. And they knew it.

Fine.

But then they finished 18. Put their discs and bags on the basket, and began leaning on it and shooting the sh*t. We hollered. They looked.

...And continued to loiter on the 18th basket!

My buddy then proceeded to make an amazing hyzer shot that skipped off the base of the basket right in the middle of the four of them. He may have yelled fore.

I don't know what was more amazing, his shot, or his timing.

Either way they got the message.

Idiotic white college kids...

I get tired of the Innova/Discraft debate. Who cares what you throw? I have a mixed bag. The majority of my drivers are Innova but I can't get away from the Buzzz. Nikko throws a ton of Gateway, Doss throws Discraft and so does McCabe, while other greats throw majority Innova. Each company has several go-to-disc.

well said its all what fits best in you hand, but my biggest pet peeve is when you are putting and finishing up a hole and the people behind you start throwing their drives, which i dont mind when its a really long hole( say over 450 feet) but its happened to me at one time where i just thew my drive and about to bang in a putt on a little 175 foot par 3 and a champion boss with that nice thick rim it has hits me in the back of the head.
which first of all if your throwing a boss on a 175 foot par 3, go back to the practice feild dude, and second of all its not like it was a dogleg right or left in the woods were he couldnt see me, it was a hole with literally zero trees and it is a straight shot from the teepad to the bucket, and i usually get along with everybody and im easy going, but that guy was a headache literally

Agreed.

I throw Innova Drivers, a mix of two Innova and one Discraft midranges, and a mix of MVP, Wham-O and vintage DGA putters.

Then the question is: "Why don't you just stick with one company? Man, you should get some more Discraft! A Nuke would fix your game right up!"

Damn fanboys.

I need to print this out and hand it out next time someone starts going on and on about how awesome one company is.

My biggest pet peeve is with the clouds of smoke I have to walk into anytime there is a secluded spot on some of our best local courses. They're not bad people, heck half the time they even ask if I want a toke (thanks, but no thanks), but I have kids that play with me sometimes. Children should find out about that stuff like the rest of us did (in high school or college), not on a fun day with dad in the park. I know you shoveled mulch, but it's not your backyard. I know you walk around and pick up trash, but it's not your house. It's still illegal, even if I don't see any harm in a grown man doing something that doesn't hurt anybody but themselves (financially). Next time just go light one up in the middle of Wal-Mart, or in the stands at a high school basketball game. You have just about as much right to do that there as you do in our public parks. Do what you do where you live and keep it off of our discgolf courses. You make us all look bad, and in the end, we all get punished for your ignorance and selfishness.( http://www.discgolfatlanta.com/phpbb...hp?f=44&t=3140)

i agree with the illegal activity comment above. it does make us all look bad.

but for me, my biggest pet peeve is that i don't get out enough to play

Really? I'm not trying to call you out, but I learned about it the way most other kids did. In 3rd grade when the cops came to my school with their incense that they burned on the front row desk to fill the air with the smell of weed so we would all know what to stay away from.

thats hilarious ... kids can find out anything with press of button now n there are still parents out there that think they can shelter their children from the world

The same could be said for the people that made it illegal in the first place.

This is a political matter. Support Prop 19 if you want to see change. Countless hours of research has shown that smoke (of any kind) is harmful to our respiratory system. Legally, what we are speaking of is still against the law where I live. You sir have no argument. I don't even have to argue you this point from a moral standpoint of a father protecting the innocence of his little children because you do not have a leg to stand on.

Are you a parent? I seriously doubt it. If you ever get the chance to see life that you helped create come into this world, everything will change.

Being a parent doesn't make you automatically right. Sorry.

Prop 19 is taking it's time, but state by state, people are pulling their heads out of the sand.

Fact: Pot was made illegal to punish Mexicans bringing it across the border.

Now we give them health care for sneaking in.... But that's another thread

Trying to explain what it is like to bring life into this world to someone that hasn't experienced it themselves is a very difficult thing to do. It's kind of like trying to describe the ocean to someone who has never seen it before. Yea, it's water, alot of water, no bigger than that... Tough to do.

I'm not going to get backup on this site, because the average discgolf player and user on here is early 20's and single (college age). Someone that age has no clue what half of life is all about. Their life consists of what are we doing today, and what do you want to eat? Your whole world is about this big * and it's all about you. As you get older, more things become part of your life and you grow. At least if you are lucky you do.

Doing drugs in front of someone else's kids should probably get you an a$$-whooping. If you can't understand that, then maybe you could relate to a perv sitting beside your mom and granny while looking at porn. It is that offensive to me as a father. It is my biggest pet peeve on the disc golf course, and that is what this thread is supposed to be about. You morons that want to argue the legality of drug use have completely missed the point. I don't care how you decide to waste your life, I'm not your dad, but you're not going to do that crap around my kids without hearing about it. I didn't mean to hijack this thread, so I'll let it be. My appologies to the OP.

I'm going to try to keep this on point. One of my biggest pet peeves in disc golf is when someone assumes that when they are in a public place with their children (i.e. disc golf course) that everyone around them has to take on the role of acting responsible and parenting their children.

I'm 34, have three kids, and apparently am a moron wasting my life along with all the other juvenile degenerates here. Nice.

That is one HUGE horse you've got there, pops.

I drink beer while playing, but my peeve would be piles of cans at every tee pad. Like it's ok as long as you put 'em in a pile!

I don't like kids to be around smoke either but studies have shown the most harmful drug of all is alcohol, and everyone laughs about the prohibition era and idolize moonshine runners as the forefathers of US auto racing now. The only constant is change.
