Of the ones I've played there are a few that do not belong on that list; though they are fine....they are not in the top 100. Ashe County is actually one of may favorites....

I have played 28 of these, of the 28 they all are probably all top 100 worthy.
I have played 26 on that list...which is pretty solid I guess. 12 of those in this top 25.
Again, my point is simply that the standard for creating the top 10 list is fine. The problem lies with regional biases influencing the scores. That is not a problem that can be fixed by the site. It is a problem that can be fixed by the users.

I've played 25 of that top 100 list, and all were at least really enjoyable courses. My own order is pretty different in a few cases, but that's just personal preference.
I've played only 9 of those courses and I think they're justified; none the less I typically take such lists for what they are: opinion polls.

Speaking on behalf of Winter park, being in the top 10 is a double edged sword, but definitely more of a positive than a negative. On one hand the popularity breeds more popuarity and word of mouth. Remote area courses like this get some much needed recognition in terms of being a 'soundbite' to 'sell' the course, expansion, improvements to the local public and parks department who have almost no knowledge of disc golf, much les what a good course is. They get to see what a gem they have right in their backyard, at least based on a variety of public opinion.
Being in the top 10 also invites the hardxore traveling players who can substantiate the claim, or based on their broader experience, oFfer some differing opinions and ratings. The top 10 will induce some high expectations and thus increase the probability that the picky or opinionated players could be disappointed.
The other negative part is that the popularity and word of mouth also brings in the unwanted trash players who vandalize, litter, disrespect, and generally destroy the beauty of the course.
All in all, being in the spotlight has been a good thing. We welcome the opinions for and against the course and base all our improvements on your comments (and the disc golf obsession in my mind). We have been able to show the parks department this concrete support of the course and alllow them to realize the popularity, value, and viability of the course. All great courses should enjoy their time in the spotlight though, which is why I wholly advocate for a longer list of top courses so that we as an informed and passionate disc golf community can show off more of our excellent courses across this nation (without having to be savy with this site and use the sort tools in the course browser!)M

Those are the ones I've played in the top 100.
WR Jackson, Jim Warner, Horning's Hideout and Milo Mciver are all top notch courses. Whistler's Bend, Dexter and Pier are fun but so-so. Lucky Mud and Lake Walcott are HIGHLY overrated and shouldn't be anywhere near the top 100, I gave both of those courses a 3.5 rating.
So, actually 36 played.
I have not reviewed most of these. Don't have a whole lot to say. My favorites list would be more fun to put together than a "best" list. This is a nice thing about Dave's list; it blends the two.

Those in my top 10 not in the DGCR top 100 are:
4 - Steady Ed Headrick Memorial - I think that is an error that this is not on scarpfish's list (as others have noted)
5 - Hippodrome - it looks like it has changed for the worse since I played it last
6 - Nevin - very new
9 - Yadkin County Park - poor tee pads & navigation.....but has everything I like and fits me perfectly
10 - East Roswell
I can see why none of these would be in the DGCR top 100 (except Steady Ed).....so I am not muddying the water too much.
"Best" is meaningless if the audience is not defined......"Favorite" = "Best" if the audience is me and those who are like-minded.
I can make a quick comment about Wisconsin courses; of which I've played more than 150: Standing Rocks and Sandy Point, as pure courses; are probably not in the top ten; in the state.
Sandy Point gets some extra rating points because it is one of the best destination points for a family; of any course anywhere. It also gets some been around, as a charmer, for a long time; points.
Standing Rocks is one of the premier state tour stops; next to the A Tiers in Madison and Milwaukee. Some of the designers ideas were ahead of their time as well.
Both also get credit for having more than 18 holes; which is probably one of my criteria for a possible rating above 4. Standing Rocks also gets downgraded for never knowing which holes may be in the ground; until arrival. So, it has it's flaws. Sandy Point is short, by modern standards.

Ah, I missed Silver Creek, #14 for me. I've got that as a 4.

Probably in that order. Totally subjective of course.

Holler in the Hills is probably one of my current favorites as it was a top of the list course, during an impressive spring trip (perhaps a couple of unlisted courses beat it...). Seviren Lang was about as tough a course as any we played during the same trip; and earned high praise; from a difficulty stand point. In my world, if a course puts a severe whipping on you; it's probably automatically up there with the big boys....as long as it's interesting as well and not a pure chucker course....Woodshed stays in my mind as a butt kicker; and an interesting private feel. These types of courses I would have to play a few times and see gold level players play them to make a qualified evaluation....

7 or 8...didn't think it'd be that high.
And, frankly, I'm a bit surprised at not only a couple of the course's rankings, but also that some are on the top 100 to begin with.
That said, I've played at least two unlisted private courses better than most of those listed.
