Def utility level of OS, mini firebird. Recently discovered the RocX3, which is more what I wanted in an os mid, and my flat firebird can be finessed for pyro things.
I think there just must be a lot of variation in different runs of the Pyro. I see everybody describing them as super beef when every one I have ever thrown just flies like a longer Zone. Throw it flat, flies straight for a good bit, then has a strong but pushing fade at the end of the flight.I would respectfully disagree here. The Pyro is an overstable disc, without a doubt, but I found it very similar to the wasp. The main difference I felt was that it would continue further forward as it faded in flight. I did have a neutron Pyro which did seem beefier than the prism protons and I didn't like that one nearly as much. I can appreciate it may have been pretty beefy for you or maybe you got a weird one, but the aforementioned Tilts/Max's are in a class of their own that the pyro does not encroach on.
I wouldn't throw the pyro out on one person's review here BUT....the pyro really is 5 4 0 2.5. I get what you mean about the Reactor, it's probably one of my favorite mid-ranges and I love the baby HSS turn it has when new. But unfortunately for MVP there is a definite gap between the pyro and reactor. I think the Pyro would be pretty close to your quake.
I love the pyro...though I definitely think a max weight neutron one has the potential to be pretty beefy--the prism proton one's are the sweet spot.

That being said, if you want a beefy mid get a Deflector. Those things are straight beef. The Pyro and Deflector are the best OS mid pairing.
Local shop had a stack of unstamped prism neutron so I grabbed one. Definitely won't slot between my Hex/Quake, seems to be half a tick beefier than a Quake to me. Bagged it a couple rounds and I might like it a little better than a Quake, and I f'n love Quakes. Super flat which I love for FH and good glide, will be almost exclusively a FH disc for me.I've owned three deflectors and three pyros and the most OS Pyro was similar to the least OS deflector. I don't think the current runs are super beef, at least in my opinion.
Yeah, the plasma I threw didnt' feel like no 3 fade. 2 for sure.True 5/5/0/3 but not utility OS.
