Yes is hard to brace on ice. I think The brace looks much better in the second throw but the surface could not hold me.

Im having trouble timing the throw when i dont "pronate". Is it just to gain more power or consistensy one would like to supinate The arm in the backning?

Yeah, second one did look better with slip.

IMO it's both power/efficiency and consistency to supinate in the backswing. The disc swings further back behind the elbow so the swing is longer and with the disc swinging back and forth flatter on plane there is less angle change and air drag during the swing.

Try separating your hands more closed like he demonstrates below:
