Update of Old Review for New Layout 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 27, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Concrete Tee Pads are in!!!

-Most holes have alternate pin locations to add some potential for variation.

-Fairways are fairly well maintained for a course out in open space.

-Good mix of various distances, and use of terrain to make a challenging course with plenty of birdie opportunities and apply few ace runs to reward good shots.

-Within 30 minutes of most the metro area.

-Very little traffic in area and almost no having to wait for foot / bike traffic with the new layout.

-Very safe design, unlike the old one, with little risk of striking people on other holes or anyone out walking.

-Easy to navigate with signage in place.

Cons:

-Tall grass outside of fairways can have you spending a lot of time searching for your disc after a bad throw.

-Signs are basically real estate type signs with some just leaning against tables right now. Unfortunately they will be easy targets for theft/vandalism so who knows how long they will last.

-All par 3 with no variation in par (not entirely a bad thing but I'd like to see a professional level course with some par 4's to have the possibly of attracting larger professional tournaments).

Other Thoughts:

I am a huge fan of this new layout! Much, much better that the old original layout. It might just be my favorite Metro area course now and it's very close to home for me. Bright colored discs are definitely a must as any large skips or errant throws could leave you searching for discs.

The only real down side to the course is I think they could have gone bigger with the space available. A couple of par 4 holes would have been possible with the amount of space available and would have been a nice change over the other par 3 courses in the area. I would also have liked to see some more technical challenges such as an island hole and maybe some elevated baskets just to add even more variation to an already good course (still could be added in the future or done artificially by TD's). Those two changes would have made this course the best in the area and worthy of attracting top pros to the area.

Those gripes are really a huge stretch and are more focused on competitive play and trying to grow the sport out here by attracting the top players. The new layout is still awesome and is a major improvement from the old one. Kudos to all those involved with the new design!

Adams Hollow 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 25, 2015 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Holes for all ages. Birdie course makes for lots of fun--if you have the skills. Fairways are maintained well and trash/recycling/restrooms are all available. Pins take advantage of mature trees.

Cons:

Some of the spots are disc eaters because of tall grasses, so keep your eyes peeled. Hole 18 is blind.

Other Thoughts:

Course design is going to continue to improve as it moves towards becoming a championship caliber course. Phase 2 is coming with multiple pin placements and concrete pads.

Pros:

Fun design with a descent challenge. A few holes you get to bust out a long drive but it is mostly a midrange/putter course. Fairways are open but lined with long grass rough and trees. Some of the baskets (brand new Innova baskets) are under trees with low hanging branches so tee shot placement does play some importance. The course has a nice isolated feeling without being actually isolated. There are some bike riders and walkers that go through the first few holes so keep your eyes open.
Dog friendly but a few holes do have some cactus and other nasty plants, mostly safe.

Cons:

Not holding these against the course since its still in development.
- Needs signage, from the parking lot to the tee and hole 6(?) to 7(?). Mostly easy to follow.
- For the amount of trees on the course they are not used to their full potential.
- I dont think the clay teepads will stand up well to the test of time. Course is very young and the pads are already showing signs of heavy wear. Cheap fix would be to flatten the clay back out and ut turf over it.

Other Thoughts:

Has alot of space and features to add in some pro tees/pins and turn the course into a solid 3.5 rating.
Another course that it would be nice to see a donation box! Denver metro courses in general really need to add these.
Short detour from I76 and worth it.

Adam's Hollow 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 15, 2015 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

UPDATE: I have edited my review to reflect the new, permanent layout. The course greets you after a short walk with a practice basket. Unlike many Denver area courses, this course has plenty of old growth trees. Many baskets are situated directly next to low hanging branches. This also provides plenty of shade relief for those hot days.
The course makes great use of available land and features, and forces a variety of shots.
Distances vary from a few in the 150ft range, to #18 which is 450+. The average hole is about 300ft.
Located in a nature preserve, there's not much other foot traffic on the course. You are fairly well isolated from other parts of the park. The course has had it's rough area's cleaned up, so there are defined fairways for each hole, and, at time of writing, a low chance of losing a disc. There is a well maintained PortoPotty on site, as well as a water pump.
The course is well designed for safety. Most tee's are protected or situated away from other holes. Only two holes come into contact with a sidewalk. It is also easy to navigate, the course flows fairly naturally, only 7 to 8 isn't plainly obvious (8 is located by the sidewalk near the railroad tie fence).
The yellow Innova DisCatchers are easy to spot and catch very well. The recent update to the course has blessed it with concrete tee pads, which are just barely long enough but plenty wide. Additionally, most of the front 10 was changed, permanent signage for each hole and multiple pin positions were added to almost every hole. There are benches and trash/recycling throughout the course.

Cons:

UPDATE: The redesign/update addressed most of the common gripes found on the original design. Its hard to find much fault in the course now, but nothing is perfect. Tee pads could stand to be a few inches longer, though they are still very good. There are no navigational markings (yet); it could be tough for a first timer to find 8's tee and 18's basket. There's about an 1/8th mile walk from the parking lot to the first tee.

Other Thoughts:

Designed for beginner to intermediate players, this park is a great compliment to nearby Benedict Park. Overall this is a fun course to play. The update was done right, and addressed nearly every complaint, so there's really not much to dislike.
