Little chance of losing a disc.

Very, very poor drainage. Easily can go weeks during the rainy months between a complete dry course. Rocks are highly ineffective compared to mulch to soak moisture.
Low overall challenge. Mature trees do force some shot shaping but even from the longs it is a deuce or die course.
Somewhat cramped in the middle holes, many holes and tee pads are in close proximity and can be confusing.
Holes 20 and 21 are poor design and filler in nature compared to the rest of the course. Stopping at 19 at the parking lot makes for a better round.

Agnes Moffitt is a well trafficked course that is a relative old timer in the Houston DG scene. It is a well done park style course that offers moderate line shaping, making the most of the flat, mature tree laiden landscape. Fun factor is high here and you can easily breeze through multiple rounds due to a very good, compact course flow (unlike its brother TC Jester). Overall challenge is low so higher rated players may not get as much enjoyment as lower rated rates. I recommend the course during dry conditions for an enjoyable, carefree round of par 3 park style golf.

I lived in Houston 4 years, moved away for 5, then finally played this Houston staple of a course. It's right off the highway on the westside of town, and once you get started, flows nicely. I had a guide with me so I never had to try and navigate but it didn't seem too difficult.

Agnes Moffit is a 21 hole course in a park in west Houston. It looks like, for as old as it is, it gets an update every once in a while with nice concrete tees, good signage, and reliable baskets.

The holes are pretty various, but you can forehand almost all of them, and they fall in mainly the 250-350 range with just a few outliers.

The way it plays through the park is pretty nice, making good use of space for so many holes. I never felt like we were near park amenities, other players, but I also don't feel like we were ever too far from the parking area. I know that's not like a huge pro, but it just stood out to me.

It's Houston, so the course is flat. And because it's so flat it can kind of stay muddy. But it was never around a tee or a basket, just on walks to my lie, or between tee's. It wasn't bad at all but just worth mentioning I guess

It's almost a neighborhood course feel, so nothing too epic. Though there are some good big holes, there's no real beauty. It's regular public park. Maybe a little trash, not too bad but nothing you're going to take a picture of.

I am so glad I finally got to play this course. I really enjoyed my round there, and would happily play again. I REALLY debated between a 3 and a 2.5. It's hard to really pull apart what might just be me liking the course, and whether it really is the design and equipment that makes it Good versus Decent/Typical. It's a solid course, but I don't know if there's anything that makes it stand out other than I had a good round. BUT was it the design that made that happen? I don't know. I'm still not sure what I'm going to rate it. I guess you'll just have to see with me.

EDIT: I just read some recent reviews, and while I apparently only played this the day after the last review, there ARE 21 holes there. My partner and I played a full 21 holes to 21 baskets on December 28, 2021

The re-arrangement of 17 and 18 was a huge improvement. Taking the pool out of play (since even a dry disc was lost if it went over the fence on a course otherwise risk free for lost discs) and removing the awkward break in flow from 16 to 17 which used to exist.

Unlike other Houston public park courses, this one actually gets consistently mowed in the summer making it playable year around.

The white tee pads are a nice mix of sometimes longer sometimes just a more challenging line. Many of the older Houston courses were all about "are you 25 with an arm which can throw 500' all day long" and Agnes is a nice exception where you're more often challenged to shape a shot rather than rip a bomb (although #4 will test even big arms from the white tee).

The portion of the park at interest to non-golfers is well out of play.

During the 2011 drought this course lost most of its trees (the whole course wasn't exactly wooded but it was shaded and more technical). Since then some tee pads have been moved in an effort to make the shorter pins more challenging again, but the main issue is drainage. Without the large number of mature trees to soak it up, certain places (basket #2, #17 leap to mind) can take weeks to dry completely after a single hard rain -- and in Houston it typically rains at least twice a month (if not every week) meaning the course is now almost always muddy.

Despite this, course is often crowded -- which is especially a problem given how tight the front nine links are. Not only do you struggle to play through slower groups, you're often waiting for them to tee off lest you risk hitting them playing another basket.

If you're confused why this site indicates there are 21 baskets when both the map and the photos only show 18 (and you've been playing it for a decade or more and it has only ever had 18) apparently three have been added and the resources are now out of date.

Nice tees and the flow of the course was very good, very natural. Baskets were in good shape -- and on the day I played the course was VERY busy. That's a good sign.

As others have mentioned, there was lots of standing water on the day I played the course. (I was in Houston for business and picked this course to play.) Although the course was flat as a pancake, it was still fun to play. My only issue was the standing water -- and I suspect there is very little that can be done about that.

A fun, maintained course that -- if I lived in Houston -- I would play again.

Agnes Moffitt is large, with a swimming pool, ball fields and a busy covered basketball area. There were way more guys hooping today than throwing plastic. The course starts just beyond the BB games. There is a kiosk here with the usual rules of disc golf posted. There is a old beat practice basket at the start. Two sets of tees, the Reds and the Longer Whites. I played from the Reds. The Whites wen't much longer but seemed to give you just enough of a different look as to make them a nice alternative. The concrete tee pads are nice sized. The only signage are 4" x 4" poles with the hole # on them. Someone has written the distance on a couple of poles with Sharpie. How about writing it on every pole?

I see this course playing at a very, comfortable recreation level. One reviewer called it his comfort food. It is a very low pressure round. There's very little chance of even having to search for discs and even less chance of losing one. The course is wide open enough that hitting a tree is harder than avoiding them. But after saying this, I think better players can enjoy playing here and putting up scores way under par. I don't think there are any par 4's here.

The area would seem to be disc gold exclusive. You may find the occasional park user wandering out here or perhaps, walking a dog, but that shouldn't pose any problem for you.

There are clearly marked Mandos on two holes, keep left on # 5 and keep left on # 15.

There was plenty of standing water on the course probably left from the recent flooding. It was impossible to play today without getting your boots wet.

Signature hole? I thought # 17 was pretty cool with it's well constructed 20' x 20' green area. Today, it was totally surrounded by water fully adding to it's difficulty. You didn't want to miss the green and really get wet feet. I kinda doubt this area is usually this wet. Also, some homeless person seems to be living about 50 feet left of the basket. I wonder? Are the homeless in Texas as likely to be packing heat as the average Texican? Probably don't want to be bouncing your drive off his humble tented abode and finding out?

I was confused at times as to which basket I was throwing too. Also, I had to ask other groups for directions a couple of times.

Baskets are old and not so attractive but have good bones and catch well.

Better signage would be nice.

There were benches on about 3 holes. I've played courses where the locals have carted in multiple benches on every hole. I guess you Texas players don't need the rest or aren't stopping to smoke a bowl every other hole like some courses I've visited.

This was the third in my personal trifecta of Houston's mostly open courses, along with TC Jester and the White Oaks North course. These three are all so similar in their look and play. They all have their strengths and weaknesses. TC and North both have some big throws. North has that nasty green water. North is the most challenging and also, the scariest. Agnes Moffitt is the least dangerous and most comfortable round. Rating them is really interesting, I believe. If I had the option, I would rate them as this:

White Oaks North. 3.35
TC Jester. 3.10
Agnes Moffitt. 2.90

But from my weiny armed rec prospective, my ratings would look more like this:

Which makes it easy for me to just call them all 3.0. Actually, coming from that giant rain forest that is Washington state, where most of our courses have extremely thick underbrush and trees galore, playing these more open courses was most enjoyable.

Good location near I10 and the Sam Houston Tollway on the west side of Houston.
Eighteen holes with alternate red and white tees creates variety.
Plenty of parking with water available and one portable toilet.
Concrete tee pads with distance marked on the red or white posts.
Nearly all baskets are visible from the tee pads.
Most holes provide birdie opportunities.
Baskets are well worn but are still straight and sound.
Low likelihood of losing a disk on this mostly open course.
Some benches scattered along the course.
Barrels, considerate disc golf players and the park department keep the course clean.
Even though the park is multi-use, the disc golf course is situated such that only disc golf players are on the course.

Can be difficult following this course without a map as the posts only have distance, not a map of the hole with an arrow pointing to the next hole. Many folks miss the tee for hole 7 which is behind and to the left of the hole 6 basket behind some bushes.
The course is flat with lightly scattered trees; the drought of 2011 killed off roughly half of the trees on the course. New plantings will take several years to replace the old majestic oaks, cypress and pine trees.
The alternate white tees 2, 4 and 15 can be difficult to find. Print off a map beforehand. You can reach hole 18 by walking the path behind hole 17 for 50 yards.
More than most courses I've played in Houston, Moffitt tends to hold water after rains with most of the baskets sitting in puddles.

It is worth printing off a map of the course for the first few times you play the course. I've been playing this course for the past 8 years and despite the existence of many better courses in Houston, I enjoy Moffitt which is like "comfort food" to me. With 18 holes and alternate white tees, there is enough variety to remain interesting. The park department keeps the course reasonably maintained. There are many low spots on the course which retain water; while this makes for a wet course, if you wear appropriate shoes, playing around these temporary puddles makes for a more interesting course. When freshly mowed, long skips are possible; after a week of growth skips are rare. Being mostly open, especially on the front 10 holes, wind can play a major factor on long drives. These micro-environmental differences add interest to a flat, mostly open course.

- For most part wasnt to trashy except for one of the back nine holes by the tee box has a big build up of trash

Like i said it is fun and is a good course to go play by yourself or with a group of people.

Careful #7 tree WILL hold your disc in the limbs and has thorny branches lol

This is a course that players of all levels can play and get some good practice throws in. I liked this course for the concrete tees and the layout in general. Ms. Lehman made good use of the land she had to work with here. This was a course that I could play off the long tees and still had a more than good chance of achieving par on most, if not all, holes. I only got turned around twice while I was playing here the first time. Most courses similar to this one might have nine to twelve or so holes, but these are 18 holes of good practice play. I found this course to be similar to one I played last year in Temple. It too, did not have a lot of land to work with, but there were 18 holes and concrete tees as well. One thing I can give the designer credit for on this one is that a player doesn't get that cramped feeling that you would get on a lot of other courses.

Slightly muddled navigation between holes 6 & 7 as well as 13 & 14. When you finish hole 13, if you were to go straight, a player would encounter hole 16. Other than these two items, I find very little wrong with this course. The baskets are even still in pretty decent shape.

I was looking for a course a little closer to me to play and I had heard some talk about this one. This course filled the bill nicely and I know I will come out here to play again.

For starters the 36 new concrete tee pads and hole number posts are a huge plus for any level of play.

For amateur and recreational players, the holes are not too intimidating as they are all in the 200-360 ft range (red tees) and devoid of insurmountable obstacles. The fairways weave moderately around a few large oak trees for the most part. From the red tees almost every hole is birdiable when playing from the red tees--an enticing challenge for recreational and low amateurs. The white tees are longer and a little more challenging, but also very manageable.

There are no water hazards where you are likely to lose a disc.

The baskets are excellent quality disc catchers, although a couple are banged up a bit.

Parking is ample. The grass is generally mowed. The disc golf course is set aside from other park attractions, so typically no risk of hitting other park patrons with a wild throw.

All in all, it is a very enjoyable course for recreational play.

As of May 9, 2013, hole distances are not indicated on the number posts by the tee pad. The only way to get distances is to measure yourself, or download the hole info from this site.

The course layout can be confusing, until you have played it once or twice, and there is not an accurate map posted anywhere (that I observed), so print the map on this site and bring it with you.

It is true that some of the holes and tee pads are quite close, but it is not as extreme as other reviewers have indicated, now that the tee pads are marked with hole numbers and red or white posts.

There are some low spots that retain standing water after a big rain, but no worse than most other Houston courses.

Finally, if you are looking for something really challenging as an advanced amateur or pro level, you probably won't be satisfied with the Moffit challenges, and it is true that some of the holes can seem a little repetitive, but this has not bothered me yet.

As a RHBH thrower, my most memorable (red tee) holes are ...

Hole #2 Anhyzer flight path in to the basket loosely surrounded by trees, or a risky low ceiling hyzer path.

Hole #3: Big straight tunnel shot out of the tee box, which then opens wide up approaching the basket

Hole #10 Another longer anhyzer into a clearing where the basket is loosely surrounded by trees.

Hole #11 Tight tunnel shot out of the tee box with a necessary anhyzer path with thick vegetation on the left all the way to the hole.

Hole #12 Low ceiling shot out of the tee box with a little room for an alternate big hyzer over thick trees on the right into the basket.

Hole #16 Big dogleg right into a clearing 270 ft to the basket.

-There is a practice basket. The baskets on the course are old but all of them still hold their structural dignity.

-The new dual concrete tee pads are awesome. A huge improvement from the previous tee pads which were basically holes at this point. The dual tee pads also changes the look of the hole completely on a couple different holes.
-The new hole design for #17 and #18 flows a lot better then before. The 18th hole ends right by the parking lot rather then a couple hundred yards away like the previous pin placement.

-The course has a few technical shots that need a good anny or flick for a chance at a 2.

-On that note, this is a good beginners course, nothing is too long to discourage newer players but every hole is birdie-able and even ace-able which could result in record low scores for experienced players.

-This park is 100% disc golf so there is no worries about hitting oblivious walkers.

-There is a restroom and water fountains on site. There are also a few benches on the course.

-There are not too many obstacles in play here and some of the holes are very repetitive and can get boring very fast.

-The course layout is very confusing. There is a point where at least 5 tee pads for different holes are sitting within a 10 foot radius of one another. Some of the colored sticks are missing in this part of the course so it can make knowing what tee you need to shoot from very difficult.

-This is one of the more popular courses in Houston because of it's location so you can always expect a bit of a wait for shots and you can expect a very crowded course.

-Because there is a lack of trees and obstacles the wind can be very bad at times.

This course compares very well to MacGregor Park. At one point both courses had a good number of trees but with last summer's drought the trees have died and been cut down which means that holes are repetitive and open.

-This course may not be the epitome of great disc golf but this is a course that should be checked out as it is one of the older courses in Houston. It also has it's memorable holes.

- 18 holes with alternative tees mean you can play this one a number of times through before growing weary of repetitive play.
- Good mix of obstacles on short to mid-distance holes.
- I enjoy the scenery of the last couple of holes that walk the tree line perimeter of the park.

- Tee layout can be confusing and somewhat over-lapping. Sometimes the tees are on top of the fairways for other holes.
- As usual, I list lack of elevation as a con but this is more of an observation than a discredit to the course. Unless levees are integrated, courses on the west/southwest side of Houston are typically flat.

I've driven out to this course from Sugar Land a handful of times. I would say it's worth the occasional trip from the southwest side of town, but certainly no Mecca destination for DG enthusiasts.

Course was in okay shape, dry and dusty. All tees are rutted (hfds.org is raising $$ for concrete tees to be installed). Baskets were in good shape. Play was smooth with all distance wasily within the 3 par. Trash cans on every other tee or so. Benches were a welcome sight and in very good shape.

Tees need some work, concrete tee project will help (see www.HFDS.org ). Wind was terrible or least for our group. One of our players had a disc stuck in the tree on #7 ( I don't know how?) Some tees were a challenge to find after holing out but other players did offer direction assistance.

Great day for play. Lots of other players on the course having a good time. Scorecard reflects our play. Not too bad for no play in many years. Bring a water bottle and relieve yourself before taking the course. The restroom (porta can) was in the parking lot and very clean.

Alt. Tee boxes offer a mix up for players. The tees themselves are deeply routed. But playable. The back nine tees are in pretty good condition. Baskets are pretty worn. The basket on hole 10 is crooked. I actually think it adds character to the course. The front nine is mostly open with a few trees surrounding the baskets. The back is moderately wooded with some plantation pines and a mix of hard wood trees and srubbs. The park is pretty clean. Benches at most holes. The park can be a little busy with players. So try to let those who are faster play thourgh. I had a lot of fun playing this course. I played all 18 from the pro tees. They are marked with red posts. The Amtr. Tees are marked with green posts. There are numbers on the posts. Parks offers other activities that might interest you. Course does have a course layout by the practice basket. Hole one os located torwards the middle of the park. The baskets you see when in the parking lot that are off to the right of the swimming pool are holes 14 16 and 17. Go left of thw swimming pool by the basketball court. There you will find hole 1. Or if the front nine looks busy, hole 9 is off to you right. When looking at the layout. Really nice rec. Course. Advanced players might enjoy something a little more difficult.

Tee boxes are deeply routed. Some of the tee posts are rotten and fallen. Baskets are old. Not a lot of distance. Only obstacles on front nine are tress and they are mostly located near baskets. Pretty easy to drive up to them and then putt once or upshoot and putt for par.

Back nine was the most fun. Almost had a skip ace on hole 10. Hole 16 was my favorite. I threw down the wooded and narrow fairway on the right from the red tee box and made it within 30ft of the pin! If the tee boxes were raked and flattened I would give this course a 3.5. If the baskets were newer on top of that and a little more distance on the front nine would make this an easy course to rate as a 4.

I believe this is one of the original disc golf courses in the Houston area and is still very popular. It is a great place to meet experienced players and learn a few things. Despite being very flat this course is very fun to play.

Flat, not many hazards, homeless man living in woods is a little creepy, tee pads are more like sand boxes.

Great place to bring players that are new to the game.

Straight forward layout with good hole placement.

Can get crouded on the weekends.

Even though the course is fairly short, the trees give it enough of a challenge without feeling impossible. Overall a good quick play

Crowded.

This park is flat with mature trees and foliage surrounded by a school, houses and high volume roadways. Within the park are basketball courts, a playground and community swimming/rec area. This is a busy park because of the aforementioned attributes. Parking is ample. A bulletin board at hole one shows the basic layout of the course, hole nine loops back to hole one if you only want to play nine holes. Tee pads are sandy dirt, and very unstable. Tee signs are stakes in the ground giving only distance. Alternate tee pads are in the same condition, and sometimes hard to find. Course design takes into account the trees and the boundaries of the park to improve the technical level at the same time not being overly restrictive with obstacles and pin placement. Average hole length on the short tee pads is 250-350 feet, the alternate tee pads stretch the course out 300-400 feet per hole on average.
Amateur disc golfers will like this course the most. Its not super long, its not super technical, and it doesn't have any unreasonable tee shots only pros would like. Maybe that's why its so popular and crowded. A very forgiving disc golf course with a very high fun-factor for beginners, intermediate, and advanced players. Pro players may get bored with this course after a few times out. Maybe not. As a recreational course its outstanding, not sure how it would stand up to tournament play, probably a birdie-fest for pros. Because of the high volume of players, the tee pads show their wear, and the areas around the baskets. The course is fairly clean for all the people playing, garbage cans on the course were full when I was there but nothing on the ground to speak of.
This course is where I would want to get together with a group of friends and play some great casual golf. You could spend an entire day like that here and have an awesome time. Just don't take this course too seriously and it can be all you want it to be.

Fairly easy to navigate this course if you have a basic sense of distance as the tees all point at the basket. Tees were all fairly easy to find with no map. Two sets of tees that give you slightly different looks at the baskets. There's a good mix of medium length and short holes. Only one hole over 350 from the "green" tees, and only one over 400 from the red tees. Most holes have trees strategically placed in between the tee and basket but can't recall any hole that just didn't have a line. The part of the park that the course is on is supposed to be only dg-ers but you will have the occasional dog walker. Pretty good parking, I've never had to wait on a spot or park somewhere else. There is a practice basket right by the sign for the course and by 1's tee box. There are actually scorecards in the scorecard box which is nice. They have maps on the back but you may not need one.

TEE BOXES- These have to be some of the worst boxes that I've thrown from. They are a mix of gravel and dirt that has holes at the end of the box from years of run-ups. Some of them you can throw from the side and some it's almost as unpleasant to do that. This course loses a lot of points because of the boxes. If the boxes were in better shape I'd probably play this course a couple times a week (it takes me about 25-30 min. to drive to it so I think that says a lot).

I only go in the mornings and play this course once every couple of weeks and there are usually a few others playing. I can't speak for how crowded it gets in the afternoons or weekends. Plenty of birdie holes on this course and you should be able to shoot a relatively good score. Would recommend this course to anyone who's looking for a fun semi-challenging course. If you play from the back tees it gives you a different look on most holes and adds a little length. There is also a baseball field right beside #1 that makes for a nice "driving range". I would say depending on the direction you throw you have plenty of room to throw out to about 500' or so, so most of us will have plenty of room. Fun course that you should play at least once.

Nice open course, with some grip it and rip it holes. No real tunnel shots, but placement of trees and bushes on the course due require at least basic needle threading ability. Overall the course is a decent recreational course but not a serious challenge. Disc Golf course is well taken care of with minimal trash or graffiti.

Gravel Tee boxes (lots of slipping and sliding when performing a runup.) The course was clean but the surrounding park is full of trash and graffiti. Hole 17 was muddy even after several days of sun.

Course is in serious need of concrete tee pads or at the very least packed dirt.

Good variety of holes, mostly open with some trees here and there; just a nice course, worth the 25 min. drive for me.

Holds water after rain; although me and couple of disc tossers went out with a slight drizzly coming down and skipped 12-14 and stayed mostly dry; but the mud was in full effect.

TLC for the tee-boxes

It has a number of nice features. The baskets are yellow and easy to see. There are some trees, but everything has a pretty good line to the basket. Every hole is a reasonable distance which makes it a great place to take beginners to learn how to play. It will challenge people who are getting started and be an enjoyable round for those that have played for a while. There are lots of birdie and ace chances with only a small chance of losing discs.

The course gets a LOT of traffic so you can always find someone to play with (but can also be very crowded sometimes). It has a pretty strong league going on Thursday nights.

The teeboxes are horrible. One day maybe the parks and rec gods will drop concrete on this course and it would be a huge upgrade. Until then just try to find a safe spot to throw from. There is little risk/reward. Even if you make a bad throw you can recover pretty easily (although this might be a pro for some people).

It can also be VERY bad after a big rain as the course holds a lot of water.

This is a great course for a fun round of disc golf. I use to play this course a lot when I was learning and recently haven't played it as much. I played it again last week for the first time in like 7 months and it was like getting together with an old friend. Very comfortable and easy.
