Convenient place to play 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 7, 2018 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

• Usually well maintained and clean of trash
• Bathrooms and water spickets placed convienently throughout
• Has a great variety for location, moderate tree coverage for a city park (on like half the holes) and baskets placed where you have to use your skill to approach it avoiding trees
• Great for beginners, yet thrilling enough for moderate experienced players
• Has long Par 4s (550ft) to Short Par 3s (157ft)
• Easy central location in town
• Great for a quick game (30-45 minutes)
• Great place to meet other players and connect and just casually play a game, requires less focus to be played than other area courses

Cons:

• Hole 1, 9, and 10 all make you shoot over busy park roads
• Hole 4 and 5 you have to shoot right past (best line is through it) a busy playground
• In several places you shoot over or near walk paths, but they are easy to watch and make a diligent throw while it has no one walking
• Signage is sub par, and badly placed right on the side of the tees
• Hole 6 is right on the corner of a busy intersection, with nothing to stop an overthrown disc, granted you ahould not throw it that hard it is more common than you would think
• Park surrounding the disc golf course is aging, minus the baseball park which draws a large crowd often in summer, but due to the lack of parking for ballpark, cars often park in the way of the Disc Golf course
• Course can become boring when played often for higher skilled players
• Other than the map at hole 1 there is a lack of direction from hole to hole, great example being 2 to 3, where they are a good 400 ft apart, there really should be another hole in between those two holes, yet in other areas like 4 and 5 it is cramped and you throw head on at each other
• Needs an overhaul
• Sadly, the least fun of the Cape Area (when compared to Scott City, Litz, and Cape County)

Other Thoughts:

• It's nice to have hole 10 as a tie breaker or practice hole
• Great place to warm up after a lack of playing for a while

great location 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 20, 2013 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

good location and easy to get to with concrete T-pads and all.

Cons:

BAD LAYOUT! The park is too small for 18, be careful when you are around playgrounds. There are some decent holes

Other Thoughts:

it's in a great park next to the southeast missouri campus and Capahas stadium

Share the Park 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 17, 2012 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

-Cape Girardeau's first attempt at a course
-Good variety of short and longer holes

Cons:

-Errant throws can reach the lake or busy streets
-A few holes play across park roads and over parked cars
-Very close to a few playgrounds and pavilions
-Some sketchy characters in the park

Other Thoughts:

Patience is the key word when playing this course. If a shot looks "dangerous" near a playground while children are playing there, simply take caution with a wider flight path around. This course can be difficult if played aggressively. However, know your options. With two courses to play in town, play capaha in the mornings and through the week when the park is less busy. Be glad that this is a busy park where many people who have never seen the sport can be introduced to discing. I have had many park people stop and ask questions about the sport and I encourage them all to check out the local disc dealers to get hooked as well!
