Very open course, with a lot of room to let loose.
Well designed with very few fairways crossing.
There are benches at nearly every hole which is nice.

There are no signs at the teepad so you have to guess at the distances.
Also there are no signs leading you from one hole to the next.
The bathrooms aren't very close to the course, which is an annoyance.
The course actually has 20 holes, but typically it's set up for 18, you just don't know which layout until you get there, especially to # 3.
There are very few trash cans placed along the course.
The teepads are TINY, they're really more of a landing zone for your feet.

This is a decent course that has some variety but nothing spectacular about it really. Even though there are very few trash cans it's kept fairly clean, and it is definitely well groomed (Mowing, trimming, etc.). The course will test your arm strength, and occasionally your precision. It's just a little too basic for me #'s 3, 16, 17 & 18 are just grip and rip holes with very little risk involved. #'s 4, 7 & 8 are almost the exact same in being long RHBH hyzer shots that might have a tree come into play. It's still a good place to go and play because you can play 2 different courses & 2 different layouts of each in the same day.

10/24/09 ** I was asked to reconsider my review because I was informed that it was a touch to harsh. I will leave it at two stars but, I will amend what I have said. I think the course is very nice but, it didn't inspire excitement in me. I do think playing the course in the Fall would be more enjoyable. Overall, the course plays well but, the holes are not marked clearly though. **

Be prepared to walk a lot on this course. By the 10th hole we were tired. Walking from hole to hole was at times a bit confusing. When we were walking to from hole 2 to hole 3 we found hole 5 first because it was acutally closer to hole 2. Same thing was true with hole 10 and 11...hole 16 was closer. That lead to some confusion. This course would be better on a cool fall day. With that in mind I only gave it two stars.

This is the most open course I've ever played. Almost every hole is wide open, with several options on how to play it. There are four tees on each hole that make it playable at any skill level. Benches at every hole are a nice touch if you need a break. The course is in great condition and very well maintained. I played Cedarock and Wellspring on my way through town and it was a great experience. Having two courses on one property is great, and they are very different so it is worth checking them both out. If you're looking to catch some sun on a course with plenty of chances to air it out, Cedarock is for you. The shots and terrain are varied nicely, and it really is a beautiful course to play. If there wasn't another course right up the street I would have played a second round here - it's that nice.

The only notable downside to this course is the short tees. I have played plenty of courses that had worse tees, so I don't want to focus on it too much, but they were far too short for any kind of run-up to a shot. I started every shot from a few steps behind the tee, and it worked out fine.

I highly recommend checking out Cedarock (and Wellspring, too - if you have time for both). It's only about 10 minutes off the highway, and I was able to squeeze in a round at each course in less than 2 hours. The locals were very friendly and helpful, and the course itself is a gem. My favorite holes would have to be 10 (requires a tomahawk over a patch of trees), and 17 and 18, which both give you plenty of room to air it out.

What I personally like and how this course stacks up:
1) Holes with good risk/reward -- B
2) Holes that have rewarding birdie opportunities -- A
3) More wooded than open - lots of variety of shots required caused by hole shape and topography -- B+
4) Natural beauty (Appalachian beauty preferred) and seclusion -- A+
5) Multi-shot holes with defined landing zones, good risk/reward and multiple options to play them -- C-

I ranked this course subjectively based on my own personal enjoyment factor...more accurately my "personal addiction factor". Since I have played a decent number of courses (115 18-hole, 50 9-hole as of early 2009), my hope is that players/explorers who have similar tastes will find my ratings list helpful as they chose courses to play and explore.

Over time, I expect to fill some of my reviews in with more descriptive verbiage...if what I say adds anything to what has already been written. For now, my list is more important to me than the verbiage of my reviews.

Only played this course once but did enjoy myself. Would have played more but it is about 50 miles from my home. I definitely recommend you visit this course. it is a lot of fun and there is anthoer course within walking distance

Nice Baskets. Concrete pads. Alternate Pin and Tee Locations. Challenging gaps on off the tee and Good Pin Placements. Course Flows from hole to hole with good options for different kinds of shots. Long Tees challenged my distance an putting. Hard to put a finger on a favorite hole. Liked Hole #5 uphill hyzer with good distance can get a putt for two, but well protected off the tee the shot has to be the right shape to get all the way to the hole.

Could use a couple next tee signs. Hard to paint baskets with alternate pin positions. Tournament OB may take care, just to Tighten up some of the landing areas. A couple holes play near each other.

with 36 holes in the park this is a great destination for disc golf. I really enjoyed my afternoon and would make it a point to come back. Personally liked Cedar Rock better than Wellspring, but both were a lot of fun.

great layout with open holes and some wooded as well. Great course for beginners and still a fun course to get out and play for more experienced players.

you can get some smug snotty players out here. Dont be fooled they are yuppies and if you tell them to screw off they will.

There are vast stretches of open grass fairways, covering 10 acres of rolling countryside, including nice elevation changes, lots of trees, and a creek. The mixture of terrain allows for uphill, downhill, direct, banking, and tight shots on goal. This is a beautiful, serene course which offers challenges for players of all levels.

While playing the course with two other friends of mine, we quickly discovered that navigating the course was much more challenging than anticipated. We did not have the luxury of having a map on hand, so we often found ourselves uncertain of which direction the next tee would be.

I highly suggest downloading and printing out a map from their website (http://www.alamance-nc.com/Al...k/Disc+Golf),or playing this course with a friend that has played it at least once.

With multiple tees, and great scenery this is one of the top courses I have played. There is something for everyone at this course especially when you consider Wellington is neighboring it. Nice Technical throws and also some air it out distance shots.

The same thing that makes it great also makes it confusing. The multiple teeboxes can make it hard to navigate for the first time.

Beautiful course and great disc golf. Worth the drive for anyone considering going.

A bit confusing but the map helps, was 20 holes the last time I played but now it's 18, which is a good thing. The walk from previous hole to next tee can be annoying and/or taxing some times.

Much better organized than last time I played, could still use some signage though.

The link above has the correct map, just follow the map on the 18 hole side of the scorecard. Hole 5 is further than it shows on the map also. With this knowledge you can save yourself the twenty minutes that I lost today trying to figure it out!!

Now to the review, Awesome course. There are two to four sets of tees on each hole so a disc golfer like myself, 6 months deep, can have a great time, and an old pro like yourself can play the harder tees to up the ante a little. Not much more can be said that hasn't already been said below, I agree with it all, Beautiful open course with a great wooded 18 hole course next door, a disc golfers dream!!!

Lack of Signage, Confusing Tees, even with a map I was lost, however with the information I posted above hopefully you will not be!! If this course had new signs and tee markers I would have probably giving it a perfect score.

Not much to think about, If you can get to this course in an hour or two it is a must see. If you are farther away you can come when it warms up a little and camp out on site!!!! I don't know about you but I am planning a camping and disc golfing weekend already!!

For out of County campers there is a fee of ten dollars per day for up to ten people. I think it is a dollar extra per person for more than ten. You just go to the office which is one of the first buildings when you enter the park and fill out a paper.

Nice scenery and good mixture of holes when considering Wellspring next door. Friendly locals.

Fairly confusing, and I even had a map. Part of this confusion was the fact that apparently a basket or two had been stolen, which a local that I joined up with told me. Not a lot of variety on its own- you really need to play Wellspring also to have an all around experience.

Two quality courses in one park is pretty cool, so if you have the time to play both you should check these courses out.

Several elevation changes create added distance and depth without overexertion. Good mix of open and wooded shots. Variety of tee and basket positions.

Nice layout and very challenging if playing long tees. Favorite hole: #10 with raised tee pad built upon downward sloping incline - throwing over creek and through a natural tree barrier with a small "window" cut out to approach the opposite hillside and basket.

Great course with awesome layout, it is now 18 holes and this is considered the open course. The also have a great wooded course that is called Wellspring. This is one of my favorite parks in the US. This couse have techical shots, long bombs, multiple pin placements and tee pads. There are 8 set ups that are possilbe at this course, as there are 4 sets of tees and at least 2 pin placements on all but a few holes.

Mach 1 baskets.

This course offers camping, has bathrooms, a fishing lake, horse trials, kids playground and a hiking trail that takes you by a waterfall. Wonderful.

2 distinctly different 18 hole courses in this park. The first one is pretty much wide open and the other one is almost completely in the woods. Only played the course once and I believe we played from the short tee's. From the tee's we played, the course wasn't to hard, but fun enough to keep my enjoyment.

This course did not have any tee signs to help you out. On more than one occasion we started the hole playing to an incorrect basket

This is one of the most beautiful courses in the whole state of North Carolina! With the best grassy meadows, it is also the best course for rollers in the state. There are still enough trees to add character and challenge, though. With four layouts (Am-Short, Am-Long, Pro-Short, and Pro-Long) there is enough variety to satisfy every player and every mood. The course uses a creative combination of long basket placements and long tees to create these four layouts. Each month the baskets are alternated between Short and Long. Every hole has a Pro tee pad and 5 holes have separate Am-Long (yellow) tee pads.
In the Pro-Long layout the big arms can experience the thrill of watching their discs rip in long flights over the beautiful grassy meadows. Hole 20, 633 ft. in the Pro-Long layout, allows long open flights over the grassy field. You'll be sorry to be finishing your round as you walk up to a basket guarded by trees. For a contrast in venue you'll can then head over to the wooded Wellspring course right next door. You could have a fulfilling day of 4 rounds by alternating between the two courses and alternating between the short and long tees. In my opinion, this is one of the best courses in NC and it's one of my top favorites of all the courses I've played. Don't miss it if you have the chance to play it!

The multiplicity of layouts and tees can be confusing, and it may take a while to figure out. Having a course map is essential to figure out which tees you should be playing from. Note that 6 holes don't have long basket positions. Unfortunately they don't have any explanations posted on the course bulletin board.

Here's an explanation of the layouts--
The Short course (Pro and Am) is played when the baskets are in the short positions. The Long course is played when the baskets are in the long positions.
Tees are marked with Green, Yellow, Red, Blue markers
Am-Short = Green tees to the short basket position. From the Green tee on holes 4, 6, 13, 16, 20.
Am-Long = Yellow tees to the long basket position, From the Yellow tee on holes 4, 6, 13, 16, 20.
Pro-Short = Red tees to the short basket position. From the Red tee on hole 20.
Pro-Long = Blue tee to the long basket position. From the Blue tee on hole 20.

Matters of opinion:
In the Am-Short layout lower rated players will enjoy that the course is not too difficult, especially since it is mostly open. There are still challenging holes, though, especially 17-20.
On the Pro-Long layout longer throwers and higher level players will appreciate the length and the challenge. This layout really lets you air out some shots.
