Watch out for the park goers 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 4, 2017 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Layout flows very nice and the holes are different and challenging to play.

Tees and Baskets in good shape.

Park is well maintained

Cons:

There are a few times the parks walking path comes into play. Lots of older folks walking their dogs or people jogging with the earbuds in.....

Watch out...these things are mandos to avoid.

great course for teaching others 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 9, 2014 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

-If you are trying to teach somebody new, or trying to learn a new mold, this is the place I would suggest.
-This course runs in a clockwise fashion, so navigation is a non-factor.
-The clubhouse for the adjacent golf course has discs for sale if aforementioned new player decides they want to purchase their first disc (marked-up prices, but hey, supply and demand economics...).

Cons:

-Course runs parallel to some roads, so hyzer slicers get punished (could be a pro if you're sadistic/dislike the people you play with)
-Watch out for disc thieves! I personally had my teeshot, a DGA SP Hurricane, stolen on hole 7, which is a blind shot. I advise using a spotter system.
-Hole 9 is sometimes a shooting gallery consisting of oblivious small children.

Other Thoughts:

This is the course I played my first round at, way back in 2002 (when it ran counter-clockwise, way better course back then IMO) so it will forever hold a place in my heart. Aceable holes include 1, 3, 6, 8, and 9 (I speak from experience), but I did witness a guy ace hole 7 with an annybombed G* Destroyer (amazing) so I guess you can add 7 to the list.

Home Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 11, 2012 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Good place to get your feet wet if it is your first time playing. You have to try to lose a disc, unless your throw drops the disc in the back of a moving pick-up.

Cons:

Can get crowded at times with other players as well as patrons. Maybe throwing your disc in the street can be a problem as well.

Other Thoughts:

On hole 7 up and over the hill is what i've found works for me. On hole 8 try to stay low coming off the hill.

Good solid course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 2, 2012 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Love the practice putting hole with the distance markers! Convenient parking, your game starts and ends near the lot.

Hole #8 is definitely the signature hole. Practice getting your Ace here!

Cons:

Pretty vanilla course, no surprises here. I wouldn't play this course day in and day out, but it's nice variety if you regularly tour the city courses.

Other Thoughts:

I remember the original course layout, and thought it had some better technical lanes before the current layout.

Winter Rules at Central Park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 11, 2011 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Well maintained;
Nice tees;
Nice putting practice hole with distance stones up to 40';
Easy access to the park;
Course starts and ends next to the golf course parking lot;
Plenty of tree hazards, but without much risk of losing a disc;
Holes are well marked;
Holes 4 and 5 are nice back-to-back par 4;
Hole 8 tees off a hill to the basket 400' below - ace-able (maybe someday).

Cons:

Hole 7 is at the bottom of a sled hill, so has been removed for the Winter sledders.

Other Thoughts:

I skip hole #7 (the basket is missing anyways), and play the practice putting basket as hole #10. I've measured using my GPS 307' from the ballpark dugout to the basket (call it a par 3).

Good place to learn 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 13, 2012 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Practice basket near parking lot with marked incremental distances

Well maintained course includes wood chip greens and regularly mowed fairways

Course flows clockwise

Many open holes to let it rip and practice shots without worry of losing a disc

Concrete tee pads with marked hole # and distance (some are wearing off or illegible)

Aside from the predominantly flat course, there are a couple of more interesting holes. Hole 7 has one throwing around or over the crest of a hill toward a blind target and hole 8 shoots off the top of the hill. Hole 8 is labeled 400', but plays horizontally more like 310'.

Of the times I have played at Central it hasn't been too busy, but enough players to keep a steady flow.

Cons:

Hole 9 can be hazardous to children playing nearby as there is a bike path running parallel. The park building on the right is something to try and stay clear of as errant shots could hit someone by surprise if your disc wraps around the building on the fade.

Most holes are generally long and open with a scattering of mature trees, which can make the course uninteresting for those looking for more tight, wooded shots.

Other Thoughts:

On the whole Central has a good basic,beginner-friendly, well-kept course, and I would recommend stopping by if you are in the area.

If you happen to get your disc caught up in a tree use a rock from one of the parking lot drainage culverts by hole 2 to get it down.

Central Park Review 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 7, 2008 Played the course:never

Pros:

Has some holes that will test your distance and a fun downhill shot on hole 8.

Has a practice basket with marked distances that make it ideal for practicing your putting game.

Cons:

Busy park, sometimes there are kids in the way of the pin.

Not too much variety, most holes are pretty wide open.
