Challenging New 9 Holer 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 28, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

+Nice new baskets.
+Dual tees with significant difference between the holes. My first time out, I shot a 7 stroke difference between the two sets. The longs are a lot longer but also usually offer tougher lines instead of a more straight approach.
+A little bit of elevation on a few holes. Both shoot downhill so it may be a con that there isn't really a hole that shoots uphill.
+A great mix of open, slightly wooded and true wooded holes. Even the open holes have some challenges. 5-6-7 are all fairly open but the first two have some obstacles as well as plenty of distance and 7 has a tree protecting the basket and OB behind and left of the hole.
+Some ace runs, especially from the shorts, if you hit your lines right. At the same time, a bad shot on these holes could net you a 4 or worse.
+Pretty high overall fun factor for me at this course.
+The course is very easy to find. You can park at either parking lot but turning into the first entrance works best. There is plenty of parking, bathrooms, playgrounds, shelters, etc.

Cons:

-Potential to lose a disc in the water on hole 1 or 2 and in the woods, trees, or tall grass on a few others. All hazards are fair in my opinion.
-Holes 8 and 9 will require more wood chips or routine clearing of the brush in order to keep them under control.
-The tees are made of baseball field gravel. They work alright but are not ideal. Concrete is much better.
-No signs right now. This should be remedied soon and I will update my review to reflect that.
-This course does flow pretty close to some other park activities but this is a small county park outside of a small town so this shouldn't be a concern most of the time.

Other Thoughts:

+There was a lot of work done on this course and it doesn't appear to need a lot of breaking in. I am sure that more lines will be found for all holes as time goes on but it is quite playable right away.
+With signs and concrete, I could see rating this a 3.5 which is impressive for a 9 hole course. My favorite 9s are rated 3.5. This area is full of solid 9 hole courses, an 18 is needed soon.
+I would totally recommend a stop here. It is a fun and challenging course and 18 holes can be made with the dual tees. It is easy to find just off highway 7.
