Open the Doorchester and come on it 2+ years

Pros:

1) Chainstar baskets with flags on top. While the flags are not necessary they are a nice touch.
2) This course has a lot of variety including some water shots. Water is something that is hard to come by on disc golf courses in our part of the country so anytime three holes can have water nearby is always exciting.
3) Flags in the ground help to identify the tees and help you figure out where to walk to the next tee.
4) Red granite tees are in pretty decent condition. They are approximately 4' x 6' in size. They are better than grass/dirt but not quite up to the par of concrete tees.
5) Good distance variation here from the short ace run holes to full distance drives to 1 that is a multi shot hole for most players.
6) Nice use of an island to create a shot that cannot come up short or go long . . . it looks tighter than it actually is because over-shooting is by far the safer miss. You then tee off of this island although the water is not in play (I sincerely hope no one has thrown into it).
7) Nice park with all sorts of other things going on

Cons:

1) Overall the course is very flat. There really is only one hole that goes downhill and then the couple of shots that go over the water have elevation change down to the water but back up to the ground (effectively making a net effect of no elevation change).
2) Difficult to navigate and they also have the tee flags all messed up indicating a 12 hole course on some of them throwing off the numbering of the holes. I got very confused for a few holes. It is also hard to know where the last 2 holes are because they are hardly visible from #10. I found them but only after some searching. Others that might not know it is 12 holes might never find #11 and 12.
3) The 2 final holes actually play through an area that is reserved for tent camping. It felt a little weird even playing over there because I could imagine what it is like when you throw through someone's morning breakfast cooking on the firepit.
4) Teesigns are lacking on this course and would help a lot in figuring out the layout.

Other Thoughts:

This was a fun course aside from the navigational issues. It had some really fun shots. Throw in the water (I mean throw over the water) aspect and it steps up a notch. There are enough trees to create obstacles on some of the holes while others are left fairly open. It is simply put a nice mix of shots, foliage, obstacles, water, etc It sounds like a Lou Bega song about disc golf design features . . .A little bit of foliage all night long, a little bit of water in the sun, you get where I was going and I can't believe I actually explained it. The park is nice but I imagine it is a busy park in summer so please be careful not to hit anyone and be sure to be cordial and explain what it is you are doing out there.
