pretty fun 9 hole course

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 13, 2024 Played the course:once

Pros:

-nice park with mature trees, open spaces, and a creek
-Liberty baskets in good condition
-natural tees are mostly flat and in good condition
-small signs with hole number and distance on trees near each tee
-despite missing and difficult to find signage, the course is pretty easy to follow

Cons:

-finding the tee signs takes some searching and a few of them are missing
-holes 6-9 play through an area closer to other park users
-some of the tees are close to becoming rutted

Other Thoughts:

First things first: this is a 9 hole course. There may be separate numbered signs for the "back 9" but this is very obviously a 9 hole layout with 2 tees per hole. That said, this is a fun little course with some interesting shots. Salt Creek bisects the park and the area north of the creek that contains holes 1-5 is not exactly disc golf exclusive but it's further from the rest of the park amenities where most of the people are. You cross a cool suspension bridge to traverse the creek too; it's creaky and moves quite a bit but it's plenty safe.

The creek comes into play on holes 5-7, with hole 6 throwing directly across it. A bad shank to the left could find the creek on hole 1. Nearly all the holes have mature trees in the fairways; hole 2 is the most open and holes 8 and 9 are the tightest. Shots aren't really forced on most holes and you can choose your lane on a number of them. The first set of tees are mostly shorter with only 1 shot at 300'. The second set extends the distances a bit but they still don't go beyond 400'.

I'm at a loss to say much more about this course, partially because it was the first of a 4-day, 20-course trip for me but also because there is just not a lot to say. It's fun and the holes are interesting but it loses it's luster quickly. For the record, I was expecting the navigation to be much more difficult based on previous reviews but I found it not too bad. Fantastic for such a small town to have a decent course. You will most likely have the course to yourself and possibly even the whole park. Worth stopping to play if you are driving through town but not worth a trip on its own.

Poor confusing layout 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 6, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

Its a nice park. Little river nice baskets

Cons:

Lay out is very odd. Cross bridge to much. Cant find every tee marking since they have 9 baskets and 18 tee signs. Most up in trees> but everything is so close hard to tell what basket and find all 18

Other Thoughts:

This is a huge park they could have used a better layout

Where are the freaking tees 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 27, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

decent use of the land given
Baskets
Tee markers with hole number and distance
good amount of shade

Cons:

Sandy tee areas
While there are tee markers, they are on trees and very hard to find some of them.
#5 tee sign is missing (tree has been cut down) But there is a groove where the tee is.
Crossing fairways

Other Thoughts:

This is actually a nice little short course. Specially if you play it as 18 holes. While the holes are not long by any means, the shots are not boring either.

I was unable to find any maps to this course before I played it, I had to really search hard for a new of the tee signs. Most are about 8ft up on the sides of tree's.

Bridge the course. 2+ years

Pros:

Great small town course.
Water hazard.
Good mixture of shots.
Signs are marked on trees.
2 tees for an 18 hole layout.
Pretty solid course for the area they had to work with.
Great for a quick round.

Cons:

Needs teepads.
Needs signage or course map.
Not easy to follow.
Only need a driver on a few of the holes.

Other Thoughts:

15 needs some trimming.
Hole 1-5 are across bridge.
6 and 15 play across the creek.

Nice Course But Need a Local To Play It 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 10, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Great landscape, very scenic
- Two tees per hole so you can play it like an 18 hole course
- Lots of trees make for some interesting shots
- Compact course, can be played quickly
- Good mix of long and short holes

Cons:

- Only 9 baskets so if it gets crowded you will be playing through each other when shooting from alternate tees
- Holes are very hard to find if you never played it or don't have a local showing you the routes
- Plays over walking paths so if the park is crowded you'll have to wait

Other Thoughts:

Overall a very well maintained and fun course with a lot of shot selections if you know where you're going. I was lucky to meet up with a local who showed me the routes, but without him the course would have been unplayable. There's a local group who meets up on Mondays at 5pm, so hook up with them if you can.

Quite the Surprise 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 1, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

1. Beautiful park/course with tall trees & a decent creek.
2. Course is fun to play as it is fairly well thought-out & there are no holes that rely entirely on luck (unlike #7 in Breckenridge).
3. Suspension bridge is a trip. Nice bonus to the experience.
4. The park was not crowded & the handful of folks that were playing were very approachable/laid back.
5. Holes were fairly well marked with signs higher up on trees.

Cons:

1. This is not a long course, and plays almost too quickly given the drive to get there. This course is probably better for beginner to intermediate levels. Next time I am taking my daughter & we will follow play with a picnic.
2. It is a 9-hole course with 2 tees for each basket: #1 & #10 play to the same basket, #2 & #11, etc. Not certain this is truly a con given the course is not crowded, but when searching for where to start or go next, this info can be quite helpful.
3. The course is not flat, but it is not hilly either.
4. The dirt tee-boxes were not a con today, but the course was dry. There was evidence of recent rain with puddles in the road when entering the park, but tee boxes were dry. Still, it is not hard to imagine how a soggy day might diminish the experience.

Other Thoughts:

As stated below, park your vehicle by the suspension bridge and cross over to start. If you drive from West Texas, you might rate this course even higher based on the park being more lush in terms of grass & choice trees. It is not only a fun course to play, it is quite pleasant in ambience. It was triple digit temp today, yet tolerable on most of the holes due to the shade (I weigh 280 & sweat just looking outside so this should tell you something about the course). Those coming from DFW might not rate it as high as it is not such an abrupt positive change environmentally other than not being in a metropolitan area.

great fun 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 5, 2014 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

While not a terribly long course it plays well to the beginner as well as the seasoned player. Nicer baskets than some larger more played courses that I have played. Some challenging terrain and water makes for good play. Well kept park with playground and large duck pond close by so bring the family.

Cons:

Dirt tee pads not my favorite. Hard to play a full round after a good rain. Even after a few days 7-9 still muddy. Trees around the water holes always seem need to be trimmed to avoid hitting the water so bring a floater or one you don't mind loosing.

Other Thoughts:

All in all a good course. live in the next town and get to play it as often as I can. Courses here are far and few between so it works well for us. My buddies and I are working on getting a 9 hole course put in where I live which will be great. If your passing through and got an hour to kill its a nice spot to play!

Noodle Arm Review 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 11, 2013 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

This course needs to be reviewed for what it is, and that is a nine hole drive and putt course. It is not advertised as anything else and serves its purpose very well. The tee signs are all clearly placed on a tree and easy to find from the previous basket. The layout is simple to follow allowing easy flow from hole to hole with no crossovers. The park is well maintained and family friendly. Its nice to even see a little tee shot over the creek. For such a short course it provides a fair amount of variety.

Cons:

While some holes are thought out and make use of the terrain, there are a few that are seemingly thrown together. Some baskets are put in awkward places amongst the trees that count more on luck than skill for getting your disc safely to the basket.

Other Thoughts:

Look for the suspension bridge, park right next to it and you'll be at the 1st (across the bridge) and 9th (to the right of the bridge). Seeing as this course is the only one for many many miles it is a welcome escape form the everyday grind that is Graham. Do I suggest you go out of your way? No. Do I suggest you take a 45 minute disc golf break if you're in town or driving through? Absolutely. It's a nice little park with a variety of things to do but a little slice has been set aside for this course and it's a nice place to throw some discs.

Nice little local Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 25, 2011 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Only course available in Graham. Layout is fun. The park is pretty.

Cons:

When I played, the homemade baskets that were used were starting to fall apart. I have heard that these have since been updated, but do not know that to be true.

Other Thoughts:

Course is scenic but not challenging and definitely not long. Worth a play if you are driving through or visiting, but not a destination course by any means It has the potential to be one if they would just take a little time and money and use the land and space they have to create a full 18 set-up. As it is, they don't really have to as it is the only local course and if you play in graham, you play that course.

Other Thoughts:

This is my hometown course and I'm glad I get to play regularly.

Great Location. Large Park. Awesome Suspension Bridge with Salt Creek affecting 4 of the holes. Bring a floating disc if you own one. Great course to show off your roller.

Cons:

Dirt Tee pads and no course map or detailed hole placards available.

Other Thoughts:

You will smack a lot of trees so best to get premium plastic if you play here a lot.
