Pros:

This is a wide open course, with longer holes that big arm players will enjoy. It's quick and convenient to play being right off the highway, and you'll be by yourself - the people who worked at the church didn't even know this course was out there (I thought it was a bit weird). The open layout makes most holes and tees (marked by a wooden post) easy to spot, and once you find #1 the first five holes are easy to follow.

BEST HOLE/S: #1; #9

Cons:

Wow, where to being? Let's start with holes #6 & #7 that are M.I.A. #6 post is visible in a weird part of the property, but there is no basket. I assume it's because once there realized it was in a horrible position and parked cars kept getting hit that they probably pulled it. I played to a tree at the posted distance away. I can't even figure out where #7 might have been. Maybe the parking lot was built bigger or something, because you can't tell where they fit it - then #8 & #9 are clear on the other side of the property. It's sad too, because they are both decent holes, with #9 being especially challenging due to length and dense foliage to the right. Use the Google Map I created to help you find your way, especially for #8 & #9, (#9 tee isn't visible from #8 pin because it's at the bottom of the drop-down on the other side of the road).

When the course was first built, I bet the designer thought it was a great idea to angle the tee signs for easier viewing, however, after years in the elements all of the necessary hole information has been completely worn off leaving you to guess the distances. I believe the baskets are crappy Lightning DB-5's, so don't plan on any forgiveness when trying to stick a long putt. Plus, you are at the top of a hill in an open plain, so any weather will always be a factor. Finally, besides #1 & #9, everything is just a straight-forward open shot with length being the only factor. Heck, even #1 isn't tough, but at least it looks a bit different.

WORST HOLE/S: #4

Other Thoughts:

I wanted this course to be so good when I first discovered it, and it just wasn't. I enjoyed it only slightly more than Tiffany Park a few miles down the road, but both are at the bottom of the College Station/Bryan DG world. It's a shame really, because even though the terrain is fairly uneventful, I think with a little TLC this place could be at least passable.

Having finally played all of the current courses the Bryan/College Station area has to offer, I have made two separate lists for you to consider when making your next visit to Aggieland. I have ranked them first by overall course quality and then my personal enjoyment rating which varies a bit from the first list. Please note however, I enjoyed all of these courses, and none of them stood out as the clear favorite.

Course Rating and Quality:
1. Research Park 3.5 discs;
2. Southern Oaks Park 3;
3. Wolf Pen Creek 3;
4. Austin's Colony 2.5;
5. Oaks Park 2;
6. Bonham Park 1.5;
7. First Baptist Bryan DGC 1;
8. Tiffany Park 1.

Personal Enjoyment: (1 is best & 5 is worst)
1. Southern Oaks Park
2. Wolf Pen Creek;
3. Research Park;
4. Oaks Park;
5. Bonham Park;
6. Austin's Colony
7. First Baptist Bryan DGC
8. Tiffany Park
