This course is awesome. Test every part of your game, both mentally and physically.
I used almost every shot in my bag while playing this course. So many "signature holes" that I felt I was playing a best of the best type course. The course itself it just beautiful and the layout tests everything you got. I only wish I could play out there more often. After getting done with 1/2 your round you stop by the hanger for food and drinks. Makes you feel like you are at the pro shop of your local ball golf course. Kelly and his parents go above and beyond and give true meaning to southern hospitality. If you have been thinking about playing this course, give Kelly a call and set-up a tee time... or better yet stay on site in the bed & breakfast.

While there may be some things to work out, I did not rerally see anything that was a con in my book except for the fact that you can't just walk on and play this course.

Some may think the rubber teepads are a con, but they grip well and I had no problem with them even in the rain.

There are some shots where you have to clear water that some may not be able to throw across. Just bring some extra discs and you should be fine.

Can not wait to get back out there to play this course again.

Kelly has built a remarkable thing here at Flyboy, with a course that stands on it's own as a complete, challenging, and fun course, and then you add in the hospitality and amenities and it's a perfect place to go spend a weekend playing. The course itself plays through woods and some more open areas. The open shots bring excellent water hazards into play, often along with interesting elevation. You throw over, along, and toward water on several holes here, and the water holes are generally excellent risk/reward shots where you have decisions to make on where and when to take on the water.

The course plays long, but there's not a single hole on the course that's just a grip n rip. If you try to bite off extra distance on the long holes, you often bring extra trouble into play. There are some shorter ace runs mixed in, so it never feels repetitive. You'll need a wide variety of shots to be successful, every single hole calls for different shots, and many offer multiple ways to attack the hole.

The tees are rubber, but almost all are nicely settled into the ground and make for perfectly fine tees. There are nice signs showing hole distance and layout, a pleasant surprise on a private course. The baskets are temporaries, but all have inner chains added so they catch just fine.

It's a real shame that the disrespect of some players has made this course guide-only, that means you really have to make a tee time and Kelly isn't always going to be available. A few of the tees aren't permanent because they would kill the grass on taxiways, so you either have rubber tees just laid down, or grass, not a big deal at all but a con to some. There are a few long walks that break up the flow, again not something that bothered me at all here though.

This course deserves it's place in the top 10, it's one of the most fun and challenging courses I've played, and offers so many signature holes it's hard to pick just one. If you can, plan to stay in the bed and breakfast here, it makes the experience even better to wake up to a hot breakfast before the round and have a delicious lunch waiting when you loop back to the hangar 2/3 of the way through your round.

Beginners are going to struggle here, there are forced water carries, long holes, and thick woods in spots that will frustrate a player without distance and control. This course will test any level of player, and offers plenty of variety and challenge even for the top pros while still being fun for an intermediate level player.

Where to begin...

From a neighborhood where houses have hangars instead of garages to the beautiful landscape and impeccable course design, everything about this place is special. There is a great deal of aesthetic appeal, but don't overlook the variety of different shots required to complete a solid round on this track.
Kelly Leggette is the most hospitable and friendly host that I have had the pleasure to meet.
Players were asked to keep the course clean and pick up any trash that we saw out there. I looked the whole time and couldn't find anything to clean up.

This course really is everything that you've heard about it.

If you are ever lucky enough to play the course, please take care to be respectful of the neighbors and clean up after yourself. I want a chance to play this one again!

This course is amazing. The course sets nestled in a private aviation community. With beautiful landscape. The course diversity with its rolling elevation changes, Open let her rip holes, tight ally shots, extreme dog legs, lake shots, elevated baskets, and yes even a sunken basket. This course has it all.I don't think any player who has played this course could say it was not fun and challenging. There is a pro shop on site and, a bed a breakfast as well.

The only three i can think of is the pads can be slick when they are wet... However better than mud. Losing disc in the lake wait thats not the courses fault. Ok it is an hour and a half away from my house. wait again not courses fault. Ok so only one thing could be improved on. The other two requires me to be a better golfer and richer so I could buy a house in the community and play all the time...

This course is amazing however due to some disc golfers lack of respect to the homeowners who allows us to play this beautiful course. ON THEIR PROPERTY I might add ! Guys this is not public land. We are at risk of losing one of the finest course in the southeast.
If you do get a chance to play this course be on your best behavior. Don't leave trash pick it up even if it is not yours. Respect the community's right to exist over yours... I think a majority of our parents or elders taught us to be on our best behavior when we are guest some where... well ladies and gentlemen on this course we are guest. If you don't think you can do this simple task. Then do us all a favor and go somewhere else.

I'm not sure you can reasonably expect much more than this out of a disc golf course. The beautiful scenery as well as the course design itself is amazing.

Every hole has nice rubber tee pads, surrounded by wood chips, nice tee signs, and benches. The course was nicely manicured and you could easily tell that a lot of work has been put into making this course something special. There were plenty of navigation signs and the flow was natural and intuitive. There is a little bit of walk between a few holes, but it is worth it just to enjoy the surroundings.

The shot variety is top notch. There is great use of the elevation change. Holes that are long and short, technical and open, with some legit par 4s and 5s included. The course was just flat out enjoyable to play.

There weren't any real cons for myself, per say, but I will list a few things other players should keep in mind. There are a lot of water hazards on this course and a player who does not have a lot of control over their shots could find themselves losing several discs.

It is a long round of disc golf if you play in a big group and can be especially taxing during Georgia summers, so come prepared. I have not had good experiences with rubber tee pads when they get wet, but I understand why they would not be able to use concrete.

I played this course before and during the 2011 Atlanta Open, so it is very possible that I saw this course at its very best, but I have every reason to believe that it is always this nice. Because of this, I did not get to experience all the extra amenities I've read about, so this review is on the course itself. This is quite simply, as close as disc golf should get to a manicured golf course, without actually being on a golf course. I look forward to getting back to play this course again.

Flyboy Aviation is truly a one-of-a-kind total disc golf experience. As soon as we stepped out of the car we were greeted by course- designer/host/guide Kelly... from above flying in his plane shouting greetings down to us! We approached the hangar decked out with plane and disc golf stuff as he landed on the runway in his backyard. He offered us refreshments, encouraged us to relax, and showed us the practice basket where we could warm up. After a while of practicing and chatting we finally got started. He offered us more to drink to take with us (big tip- take some, you will need it, I didn't and wished I had!) And then the epic journey began...

The course is made of 27 holes of all varieties. The course has long and short (par 5's to ace runs); open and wooded; up and down; left, straight, and right; and lots and lots of water. Every hole is unique and there are so many memorable "signature type" holes here. There are a lot of difficult holes here, but they are totally fair if you plan strategically and can execute the required shot. It was amazing to me the various types of terrain incorporated here as it essentially plays through everyone's "backyards".

Many people were upset about the change involving the removal of the runway hole, but it turns out that the course as a whole is constantly undergoing change in an effort to make it even better. Kelly sincerely asked us at the end of the round what we would do to improve it- which is cool that the designer is always looking for feedback and is willing to change things up if needed. In fact, there are baskets you see that you don't even play to because they used to be holes, but have since been replaced or redone.

When I finished my round after 6 hours and 100+ challenging shots, I was exhausted, but I loved every second of it and started thinking about when I could come back. This is not a course you would want to play everyday, but rather it is a great test of skill, endurance, and mental toughness.

The rubber tees were fine, but concrete is always better, but probably not going to happen because the land is not all his. Baskets were not uniform, but that can always be improved upon. Because of the recent redesign you don't make it back to the hangar until after hole #21, and by that time you are exhausted, hungry, and thirsty, and we took a nice break, but then only have 6 more holes to go. A better balance of "front" and "back" would be ideal.

My group lost a lot of discs here, but most water holes offer risk/reward and safer ways to play. You will want to try to conquer the water holes, so be sure to bring some throwaways and backup discs. (not really a con for me, but it could be for those who hate losing discs in water.)

Our group plays quicker than average, and I scoffed at the suggestion to allow 5-6 hours to play, and I was totally wrong. The course is spread out and every shot is demanding physically and mentally. Be sure to carry snacks and lots to drink. There is no charge to play anymore, but you will want to drop a few dollars in the donation box on your way out. Also, you must set up a tee time and be guided around to play here now. Kelly's main goal is to have this as a complete disc golf vacation destination where you sleep and eat on site, play lots of disc golf, and do whatever else to relax and have a good time.

Kelly is obviously financially sound and he is friends with many of the big names in disc golf, however, he treated us (just 4 average guys who just like to play disc golf) as honored guests even when we struggled at times to find the fairways. I would like to come back and stay in the "bed and breakfast" which is really more of a luxurious man-cave in the loft of the hangar. I hear the food here is awesome, and much of it is homegrown in season. The attention to detail and the generous hospitality are all bonuses to what is a superb course.

All avid disc golfers need to make plans to play here at least once.

Balanced and diverse

Great elevation - even mix of up and down shots

Solid mix of right/left/strait shots

Many water holes

Absolutely no random fairways - all clear and well defined

Meticulously manicured and maintained

Challenging but not frustrating

All desired amenities present - pads with brooms, benches, detailed layout signage

Rubber pads were often short and not always level.

Baskets were mixed. However, the only spit out came from an Innova Chainstar.

This was an easy 5 for me.

I got there about 15 mins before Kelly, the owner. I strolled around taking in the bunk house next to his hanger. It sleeps three with restroom included. The hanger itself is layed out with a HiDef projector with a line of seats in front of a pool table with a sick amount of model planes. Out back was a putting basket and even a pin on the pinnacle of the hangar roof. Later I got a tour of the entire bed and breakfast. There are multiple sleeping quarters inside, all very well laid out. One with a roll-in-wall bed and one with 3 full beds.

Once Kelly arrives, we head into the pro shop. He informs me that only he and Brad (his golf pro and good buddy) can escort golfers on the course. There is no unescorted play allowed. Unfortunately, previous folks had not shown the proper respect for the land and neighbors. We chill 'till Brad and Bill show. Then head to hole 1.

I will not bore anyone with wordy hole by hole breakdowns but I must underline BALANCE. This course is loaded with signature holes. Also, the course is continually evolving. This team is constantly working on it. They took time on pretty much every hole to detail something as we played.

For every bomb shot there was a technical compliment. There were zero throw away holes. Many of the courses I have played, with this type of overall length, lack good ace runs - not here. We ran at a few pins. I often feel I have a slight advantage on courses being a lefty - not here. I used every mold in my bag. I needed long and short turns as well as darts, sweeping hyzers and flex shots.

This is key - There is a lot of water and OB. You need to lay your shots well. My group lost at least 3 discs in the ponds. Bring extra plastic!

The hospitality and overall experience was second to none. Two great examples - Kelly's mom prepared us lunch. We came in after hole 21 and she had delicious warm ham and cheese sandwiches wrapped in foil to keep 'em hot with chips, apples and soda. We also had a joiner who played the last half of the 27 holes with us. Perhaps you've heard of him, Phil Arthur. It was a pleasure gettin' in some play time with the 2009 Masters World Champion.

This is a must play. You will create more than just memories...you will create relationships.

The whole experience of Flyboy most definitely helps makes it such a great disc golf destination. The course itself has plenty of variety. There are short and long holes, open, wooded and mixed holes, left-to-right, right-to-left, and straight holes, and every permutation of those characteristics is covered at least once. I don't want to harp too much on the course layout itself though; I love it, and most of these other reviews cover it pretty well.

What I love in particular is that the course offers a genuine challenge every time. I am a huge fan of true par 4s and 5s; holes that in general require some thought to play. Almost all of these longer holes offer a choice of landing zones, lending to a more than a few different ways to play them. Smart golfers are challenged to choose whichever of those ways will best match their strengths and then execute. Scoring a birdie isn't always about who can throw the farthest drive, but about who can place their drive in such a way as to give them a birdie opportunity on the second or third shot. In this way the course doesn't favor any particular type of golfer (long arms vs. good putters, leftys vs. righties), but instead favors golfers who know their own abilities and know how to play within them.

This mental challenge is something that more courses need to incorporate, and combines beautifully with the physical demands of 27 holes at Flyboy.

There could a couple nit-picky things I could say here, but they all stem from personal preferences and can not really count against the course.

Most importantly, be respectful. Tone down the language, don't litter (not even cigarette butts), and just generally be polite. You're in a very nice private neighborhood and should behave accordingly. Kelly and his family are some of the nicest people in the world, so be sure to thank them.

And if you play here and fall in love, let that love find its way to the donation box. Any and all donations goes straight back into the course, so chip in.

World Class setup!
-Great use of property and maximized use of terrain.
-Plenty of distance, and plenty of short, tricky par 3s.
-Alternate pins/CTP shots to keep things interesting.
-Plenty of challenges, but risk/reward shots here are intense to put it mildly.
-Buried basket. Raised baskets. INSANE!
-Fantastic scenery and amazing to see planes take off during a drive. Well worth the noise to see such a display of aerial mastery during a round.
- I cannot overstate the hospitality and welcoming atmosphere, vibe, and actions of these hosts.
-Friendly hounds that actually LISTEN to "No" as they go for your disc. Sometimes the small things are the nicest details.
-The lakes, woods, fairways and runways are shockingly awe inspiring. Every turn is a bend through a magical experience (not exaggerating one bit).

Well, this is where the review gets hard for me. This was my first time ever to make it to this premium course, after years of sitting on the to-do list. It was my fault for not going sooner, and perhaps a really windy, cold December day was not the best time to go.

Regardless.... keep in mind, this is a review of ONLY the front 18 holes of the NEW setup here at Flyboy as of fairly recently apparently:

#1 Complaint: The REMOVAL of the LONGEST HOLE IN THE WORLD (UNIVERSE)... I understand the problem of having disc golfers run around on an active runway. I am totally sympathetic to the owners need to keep safety the main priority. That said, I was really looking forward to playing this hole. Now for the detailed reason it is hard to say that: I was told on the phone setting up my tee time that it would not be in play (I knew ahead of time, its not like I was rudely suprised). The new course guide is in the works, so I recieved an amendment sheet to go with the old guide, which states that the Longest hole CAN be played during events if a 'full-time runway moniter' is on duty with a 'golf cart, red/green flags, hand-held radio and whistle.' With all of those rules, I was still told that if we were careful, we could just play it since the transition was still underway. We were a little beaten down by the weather and it just felt a little better sticking to the new set of rules as it was our first time there. This complaint is not meant to be me whining about the removal of this legendary hole, but merely a way to let newcomers know what the deal is about to be. I will just be even more determined to play this course during some kind of tourney so that I know I can take on 1600 feet of raw runway power.
-The new setup was kind of difficult to navigate when seeing other baskets moved to seemingly random spots (between 7's pad and pin, off to the right of 13's pad, left in the woods on new 16/old 15)
-Perhaps another couple trashcans would be helpful
-Personally I love rubber pads and I really like the movable nature of these baskets, but 1/2 of my group felt differently so I guess, like most other people reviewing Flyboy, they fall under Con
-Loosing discs due to my own inability to set up shots near these tricky lakes.

I NEED TO GO BACK! To play the back back 9 (which would probably make me give this course a 5.0 according to the pictures). To play the longest hole in the world. To buy some of the premium plastic in the pro shop. To stop in and get lunch after 18 next time. To thank Kelly in person for his wonderful setup. If you haven't played here before, go ASAP, you won't regret a second of the drive after you're done. You will feel like you've cheated the owners for ONLY paying $5 greens fee. Take it from me and every other reviewer on this site: Theres a DAMgood reason this course is ranked 3rd in the world on the Homepage

First off, I can't say enough about the hospitality from Kelly, his parents, Chris and Phil. Thanks to all. Everything about the course, the bed and breakfast and the hospitality is first class.
This course starts and ends the first 18 at the Flyboy Aviation hanger-which is about the time you would be thinking of breaking for lunch. The final nine start and finish the same way. This course flows smoothly with no two holes that are the same and several 'real' water holes that will take your disc if your game is a little off...it has three of mine. It has rubber tee pads, a variety or baskets, benches or chairs at almost every hole, plenty of elevation changes, well groomed fairways and awesome overall beauty. The only thing that I would change is add more holes...and I'm sure that will happen.
With plenty of par 4's, 5's and not so easy par 3', it is obvious that a lot of meticulous care and time have been put into designing the course and in my opinion, will be hosting a NT tournament in the near future.
This course represents the future of disc golf and It was a privilege to play and I can't wait to get back there.

I wish it was in Cincinnati.
The only things missing are an ATM machine and a masseuse waiting on you when you get done with the round.

#25...375 feet to get over the water or lay up-yeah baby!
#27...a tight S-curving 700 footer with bushes and a runway o.b.

If you have a big arm and can control it , the difficulty factor is about the same as Idlewild.

Three of us drove down to flyboy aviation last weekend from Cincinnati. We contacted Kelly to get permission and headed out. Kelly wasn't going to be there but he said he would make sure the bed and breakfast was available and that he would leave the light on for us.
The motel 6 slogan was blown away by the hospitality that we had all weekend at Flyboy. Kelly's mom and dad were very friendly and helpful. The bed and breakfast, hangar and pro shop were all first class. The weather was great(it was snowing in Cincinnati).
So we get there at 3 am, get up around 9, grab some breakfast and head out to the course. We were all very excited and ready to throw some plastic. Kelly had Chris(a local disc golfer) meet us and show us the course. Needless to say we were feeling pretty special, kind of like tourists.

The course was well designed, beautiful to look at and fun to play. With lots of water, par 4's, par 5's and several par 3's. #18 is a par 7 1600 footer that goes up the runway to the Flyboy hangar. You would think that 1600 feet of wide open fairway would be boring, na baby na. With the runway lights as the ob lines it makes it very challenging and fun. My best score on 18 was a 9(I was working on my roller).
Saturday, Phil Arthur played with us and showed us how the course is meant to be played. He asked for our input but we decided that we wouldn't change anything, it's a blast playing it the way it is now. I can see why his game has picked up a notch since he's been playing at Flyboy regularly. It was fun watching him throw.
We were planning on going to Flyboy then heading up to IDGC and play there but we ended up staying at Flyboy all weekend. We'll hit up IDGC and Charlotte next time.

I'm sorry to say that I liked it better than Idlewild and I helped design Idlewild. It has the fun factor that Idlewild doesn't.

Nothing that I can think of because I know it's only going to get better.

Bring extra discs, I lost 5 in the water holes(bad disc selections).

I have played close to 200 courses over the years. I have won a national championship along the way and have designed or help to design 15 + courses. I say this to say that I've been around a while and have played a lot of golf. In my opinion the course at Fly Boy Aviation has hit the nail on the head. You here the hype about new courses all the time, but the course seldom delivers in such a way as Fly Boy. It exceeds the hype.This course was meticulously laid out with no and I mean no filler holes. The course has some old school, woodsy charm with the new wave of Par 4+ holes. A big lake comes into play on several holes as well as lots of elevation shots and risk/ reward abounds. Idlewild in Cincinnati was my favorite big course for years, but as Alison Krauss so aptly put it, " I've got a new favorite."

Needs a little more signage for direction.

You really can't say enough about this course. It requires shots of all sorts and includes many unique holes that really have molded its own reputation. Hole 3 is generally considered the signature hole of Georgia and for good reason. The 1600 foot runway hole is probably the signature hold for the course however. On a different note, Kelly is an incredible host along with his parents. The work he puts into the course is incredible. He keeps all of the fairways manicured consistently. Other unique holes include the raised basket on the twisted tree and the ace run into the ground level basket.

There are a few cons, but they don't take anything away from this incredible course. They are just a few things that could be improved. Some of the baskets are single chained, but it does not make that big of difference. Also the tee pads are rubber which really work well; however, I have not played this course in the rain.

All aside this course is a must play. As soon as you pull in the drive and see the huge Flyboy Aviation mural on the hanger you know you are in for something special. Also a big arm helps, but don't be discouraged if you can't throw far. Huge variety of holes in an awesome course.

Where to begin..there are so many things that are just THERE with this course,from the instant we got out of the car,you knew there was something magical about to happen,we walked into the pro shop,and were greeted by Kelly's father,who talked to us for a bit,and was extremely kind,but i think we were all slightly antsy and we had to get to the first tee.

When you step up to the first tee,it is a solid hole,nothing to write home about,but it gets you feeling pretty confident,i took a par and was pleased and excited for the rest.

The second hole was a very fun downhill shot into a nestling of trees in the woods,but still nothing overly exciting.

Well,anything you have learned about this course you completely forget when you step up to the third tee,you instantly see why this place is special,an amazing par five,that takes great shotmaking if you want the birdie,or maybe slightly more conservative for par,450 feet from the tee to the first shore,then a 250 foot crossing,laying up is a tough choice to make,but if you don't you could lose your perfectly seasoned echo star wraith,like i did.

Now I could go on and describe every hole,but I would be here for quite a while,needless to say,this course is great,and it does not EVER get boring,there is a perfect blend of challenging par 3's,lengthy par five's,and perfectly placed 4's,a large variety of elevation changes also make for a perfect change of pace from hole-to-hole.

A few more random things,Kelly has changed 14-18 unless you are playing with Kelly,or a guide,which means no runway hole which is clearly the signature hole of the course(Unless as i previously stated,you are with a guide.) This was due to some people cutting it a little too close with the airplanes i would imagine,but do NOT let this deter you from coming,it is still amazing!

There is one thing that ALMOST keeps me from giving this a five,that is the rubber teepads,we played after a light rain,with a slight drizzle throughout the day.

Not only does the material of the teepads get slightly frustrating at some points,but also the length is pretty varied throughout the course.

Some people complain about single set of chains on some of the baskets,but i don't really see it as a bad thing,sure there are better catchers,but you just get so lost in the course the first time,your score doesn't even seem like that big of a deal.

To cap this off,there is truly one thing that sets this apart.

I haven't played a lot of the bigger courses out there,in fact,i've only played four,including flyboy now,but i feel like i would have a difficult time finding anybody nicer than the people that allow us to play,I had to call Kelly three times or so because the directions we had printed out did not help,and he kindly instructed us on how to get there,even after i annoyed him multiple times,I am sure,his parents were both extremely kind,and the land is absolutely beautiful.

Make sure you get a chance to play here,I can certainly say that I will be back here on a regular basis,and that's with an hour and a half drive,so no excuses if you're within the area!

EDIT; Also,I should add,a lot of people say this is not a beginner course,well I will agree to an extent,yes,this course is EXTREMELY challenging at points,but do not stop yourself from coming,i've been playing five months,and I shot a +11 thru the first 18,and then kind of stopped keeping score,I'm not saying that's a GREAT score,but for my first time out here it's not bad! You'll still enjoy yourself regardless of skill level!

3/7/11: Just got back from a day trip,this one was so much better than the first.

Today Kelly led us through and we played some of the newer layout with a lot of oldies(but goodies) still around,and it was amazing. This time I truly understand what people are saying about him,he's a great guy,he had just gotten back on little to no sleep for the past couple days,and still was gracious,and after the first 18,his mom even brought us out some hot dogs and cokes,it was an awesome trip,definitely have to get back and continue to redeem myself!

This course represents what disc golf should be. It provides an extreme challenge of all of a disc golfer's skills in a picturesque setting with no need for gimmicky artificial out of bounds. The tract is made up of par 4's and 5's that are well thought out providing "real" risk-reward. The term "risk-reward" is often used in disc golf but virtually no one has any idea what it really means. Fortunately the designer here does. Some of the risk-reward holes are evidenced by water carries that must be managed in correspondence
with the wind and one's ability level. In addition the layout features multiple challenging par 3's that require good shot making and are certainly not automatic. While this is a long course length does not necessarily give one that much of an advantage if any. A premium is placed on shot making and "real" course management as well as wind play often times. This is not a throw and hope course filled with silly woods shots that are completely luck or holes where you are forced to throw a putter off the tee to a 90 degree turn in a forsaken forest and call it "risk reward." No, this is real disc golf and only the best players will rise to the top in this environment.

I personally think the course would be better overall if it were 18 holes instead of 27. I also think the pars on some holes should be adjusted and get rid of the stupid buried basket.

With the horrendous courses that disc golfers often classify as the "best" like the Charlotte courses, Paw Paw and Maple Hill I really don't know if the average disc golfer will even like this course, it is too good! In light of this it amazes me that it is so good. Typically if a disc golfer would be given property like this we would end up with a bunch of luck tunnel shots and some open 300 foot holes. What makes the difference? The designer here is a great guy but not a high level player yet he can figure it out when so many others can't even come close. Course design, as agreed with by a multiple time world champion, is going backwards as a whole. Why is that? I think the desire to be cute and a lack of a golf background overwhelms any thought of what makes sense and what is fair. A good course designer does not need to be a 1000 rated player or a rocket scientist but instead just to heed common sense on a level above that of a failing preschooler. If the land you have is not congruent with disc golf, like the IDGC and most of the Charlotte courses, do not build a course. This hurts the game more than anything. If you do have good land take your time and be open to changes before anything is set in stone. The Flyboy course goes to show you that bad courses are just not necessary. Thank God!

When you come upon this course that you've been hearing of, You're anxious to see what you are about to endure. You are certainly in for a lifetime experience! From the hangar and the airplanes and all of the scenery its just so hard to take it all in!

Once you're on the course, you just get mesmerized by how stunning the course is. It is very unique, but it also requires all the shots you can think of to score well too. Open Shots, Water shots, Wooded shots, Short holes, Risk/ Reward holes. It goes on and on and on...

Although there are not level concrete pads, you use rubber pads its really not even a con in my book. For other players, maybe so.

Kelly and everyone around the area are truly the nicest people I have come across. True southern hospitality!!! They will take good care of you out there. Definitely the best 5 dollars I have ever spent! Do yourself a favor and get out to Flyboy. You will for sure Love this course!

Breathtaking views and a fantastic layout. Excellent mix of long workout holes to short technical ones. Incredibly well manicured and maintained.

Rubber tees and single chain baskets. I'm sure both will be replaced in the near future.

Flyboy Aviation is a premiere championship course in the making, challenging every aspect of your game with varied terrain, distance, elevation, water and obstacle. Often technical, most types of throws are needed to negotiate a wide variety of shots: left, right, open, tunnels, mixed, water hazards. Some excellent pin placements and shot shapes, particularly those near water (3, 4, 6, 9, 15, 25), present terrific risk / reward; a few shots as well lure you with their distance when perhaps a shorter more calculated flight could serve you better. The rubber tees and accurate signs serve their purpose while the benches and baskets are quite good. The CTP dock shot after #9 is fun and does well for the walk between holes 9 and 10(throw something you could do without for 5 holes unless you want a much longer walk to 10!). Flyboy certainly demands a good mental game and course management, requiring its flyers to deliver both bombs and short strafing runs, accurately. Most holes are picturesque with the unique 1600' runway being the Signature Hole; #3 gets my vote though. There's a good flow to the layout, easily followed while seamlessly winding through the community as well the adjacent woods.
All the amenities are here and golfers will want for nothing; Pro shop, hangout, B&B, showers, lunch service, etc.The hospitality and welcoming attitude of the community is top notch with the hangar-clubhouse providing a most unique epicenter for it all.

Since the course is still somewhat in flux, with potential changes ahead, the rubber tees and laminated signs are sufficient, but once the layout is finalized concrete tees and better signage should be installed. Most holes are away from the homes but several feel rather invasive: 20, 21, 25(one of my favorites!), and 27. Having to wait for landings and takeoffs between shots along #18 (10mins or more) can be a detriment.

Flyboy Aviation is no doubt a disc golf experience unlike any other, set in a well-manicured airpark community you get a unique "country club" feel, and it's all about flight - a destination every serious golfer should have on his/her radar. Pro or Con this course is not beginner friendly; one should be practiced and ready for a top tier pro level challenge.

Everything basically. Great layout, very easy to navigate, lots a tricky holes,

baskets... lots of different ones... but only a single chains

Best Course by far i have played on my road trip... i know have 2 favorite course this and Flip City... The experiences i had both on and off the course will never be forgotten.. Planes taking off and landing(even a helicopter) Would like to thank Kelly and his family for allowing me to visit... This course is a must to every disc golfer... Thanks again Kelly and i will be back

This could take awhile...
The course plays around a beautiful airport community. Many of the holes are along the perfectly manicured and maintained grass taxiways. There are three ponds that come into play on 7 holes. Many of the holes would be signature holes on any other course and the others are awesome must-have holes. Even if you took away the amazing, unmatched aesthetics, this would still be a premier 5 out of 5 course. If you play disc golf, add playing this course to the list of things to do before you die.

Oh, I know. It takes me over 3 hours to drive there from my house. It should be closer to me.

Flyboy Aviation Disc Golf Course is the epitome of a course. I can't imagine anyone ever duplicating this kind of quality. I can't wait to go back.
