Pros:

Set in a very nice park near the center of town. In fact, I'd say everything in this park is in nice shape except for the disc golf course. Does have some interesting and challenging holes if you can get past the fact that a good portion of your challenge will be keeping your disc away from the other park amenities. Makes a nice recreational activity for folks at the community college next door. Baskets catch okay for as old as they look.

Cons:

Many of the holes are flat out dangerous if there are other people using the park. (The hole that cuts over the tennis courts takes the cake). Orientation is terrible and it will take a little while to figure out what hole you're on. The few tee signs that are left are rotting away. Its almost as if this course has been left for dead.

Other Thoughts:

Forest Park is apparently Parson's old course. This is in many ways looks like a similar situation to City Park in Concordia, KS. Its a course that was installed a long time ago when it wasn't as crowded and was built with the disc technology of that era in mind. Eventually the city put or improved other amenities in the park that crowded those holes out. Add in our present era of warp speed drivers and denser plastics, and its just not safe when you've got some one disc carrying casual making errant shots with his Boss or Xcal.

Much like MD, I had the fortune to play this in a winter setting when the park was empty (albeit I had no snow to contend with). If you come here during the summer, you may have to get here very early or settle for putting practice. Better yet, just play the newer and much better course at the Glenwood Park arboretum across town.
