Graham Park 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:May 30, 2020 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

-- Tee signs for all holes.
-- Practice basket.
-- Baskets are numbered, but in a way that you can't see the number until you are a few feet away.
-- Water in play on several holes (two baskets close to water and one short water carry).
Slight elevation on several holes (good for Texas)
-- Several large trees.
-- Navigation.
-- Starts and ends at the front of the parking lot.
-- Beautiful park with restrooms, a playground, fenced dog park, picnic tables and a pavilion.

Cons:

-- Tee pads are not good. Crushed granite (or just pebbles) that is not bordered in any way, so there is really no defined tee box.
-- Flow is terrible. In a couple of instances, two fairways are basically parallel. Instead of the tees and baskets being on the opposite end of the space, they are on the same end, meaning after you finish the first one, you have to walk the length of the hole to get to the next tee. The worst example is 8/9. After putting on 8, you have two options to reach the No. 9 tee: Walk up the No. 8 fairway or walk up the No. 9 fairway. Also, a couple of tee pads are too close to the previous basket, creating some safety concerns.

Other Thoughts:

-- A local player told us about a second nine so that you played each basket twice. After you finish No. 9, you cross the creek/ditch and tee to the No. 8 basket. Then you basically play the baskets in reverse order and finish with No. 9. Those "tees" are marked by orange spray paint but are not easy to find. He said they are on the map on UDisc.
-- On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, the park was very crowded. Many of the folks seemed oblivious to the sport even though there are signs warning of the dangers of flying discs. A family was basically camped around the practice basket.

Ok 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 27, 2017 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Nice small 9 hole course in the area, really good beginners other than hole 5.

Cons:

There was always kids in the play ground and running around so you have to be careful. Also a lot of geese and geese poop. The tee signs suck and there is not a definitive tee pad anywhere. There also is potential to hit a car either on a road or parking lot.

pretty fun 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 21, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

-good design utilizes the park space well
-a variety of holes that are simple but fun
-makes use of elevation and water OB
-signs (except hole 9)
-nice park, well maintained, restrooms, horse shoe pits, pavilion, etc.

Cons:

-natural or loose gravel tee pads, poor footing
-sign missing on hole 9, not obvious where the tee is
-lots of park patrons oblivious to disc golf
-only some much you can do with a small park with limited obstacles

Other Thoughts:

Graham Park is surprisingly fun and makes great use of the space available. The park is pretty small and the course plays around the perimeter, beginning just inside the park entrance from the street.

The holes have a good variety of distances and make use of the obstacles available. The first hole plays about 300' to a small patch of mature trees, the second is a long bomber hole, the third is a short ace run with the basket nestled between a few large trees. Holes 4 and 5 both have baskets near the pond. 4 is a left to right wooded shot toward the pond while 5 goes across a wide open area to a basket not as close to the water as 4. Holes 6 and 7 play across the pedestrian path and you'll probably have to wait at these tees, there were a bunch of pedestrians about on a weekday afternoon. Hole 8 throws from slight elevation and 9 plays next to a dry, rocky creek bed. There was no sign for 9 and I couldn't discern where the tee was supposed to be exactly.

The pads are not great but you can easily throw from next to them if you prefer, except on hole 8. There is a slope in front of the tee and a tree to the right so you're kind of stuck right there.

Obviously not a destination course but I'd be content with it if I lived here. Definitely worth playing if you're in Greenville. Simple but fun for experienced players, appropriate for beginners, and the park is family friendly.
